C9765176-746E-453E-A49C-CCB798CC4D09.jpeg There’s a guy on eBay who I’ve spoken to who can make replicas of this shirt and if there’s enough interest (ie, more than me) he’ll do it. There was a picture on here yesterday from a poster who has bought the Sabella one from the same guy (I forget who it was) so he can vouch for it.

Who would be up for it?

I personally love that shirt. I would be very interested in getting one myself (does it come with a number om the back as part of the order?) but obviously it depends on the price / sizes available etc. More details needed for me, but I'm definately interested.

That picture is one I’ve nabbed off of Facebook, it’s signed too. I doubt it would come with a number on and no way would the signatures be on it - obviously.

The Sabella one comes in all sizes upto about XXL (I think, it may be another X) and I’ve paid £30 including postage from Australia so expect the same.

If you’re on social media his Facebook is ‘grim up north retro’. He’s also releasing that yellow one with the chevrons on it this month which I’m looking forward to. His eBay is ‘gunretro66’.

Edit: it was SleafordBlade who posted the picture up (how do I tag his name??)

Put an '@' symbol followed by the username.

I'd be interested in that. I'm after two home shirts from the year I was born. So the Simonds kit is one of them and the first Arnold Laver kit is the other. Pretty much identical except for the change of sponsor

Aaahhhhh....I like the shirt....and then you have to go and put a picture up of that useless lump of shit wearing it.

Total shite was Peter Withe. Slower than a tortoise with no legs. Only time I remember him having a decent game at the Lane was when Brum came to town and he got both goals against a piss poor defence. Unluckily for us, he was on loan for the Bluenoses that night from us, and we lost 2 nil. Just how bad was our defence in those days to let this moose score twice against us....we must have been total bollox.

There were only two decent images I could find of the kit, but the other one was.....Phil Thompson. So you can see the dilemma.

Phil skinny legs Thompson.....(more meat on a hungry Cambodians legs as mi owd man used to say). I'm starting to go off the kit....

Nah, fuk em. The useless twats managed to piss on my chips plenty of times in the 80s, I will be damned if they are gunna stop me buying a lovely kit like that one as well over 30 years later.

Forgive my youthful ignorance but what year is that kit from? I really like it

Its how a United shirt should be. Its not rocket science to have red and white stripes all over the shirt but its something that Adidas clearly struggle to fathom.

Got this one. Still need the away yellow one from this time. Also the thick red stripe Sabella one. Would pay good money! Looking forward to the yellow admiral one. Remakes are better than nothing. I ordered the Admiral one on e bay at the moment so looking forward to seeing the quality. The shoreham st magnifique yellow was very good.

I'd deffo buy the yellow away shirt from that point

I'll have the 1992-1994 one, cheers

What made that more remarkable was that I seem to remember we had Roger Hansbury playing in goal for us on loan from Brum.

So a Sheffield United centre forward scored twice against a Birmingham goalkeeper and we still managed to lose 0-2.

How Bladey is that ?

That team from the mid 80s was my first memories of United. Morris, Stancliffe, Edwards and Cockerill. Players who produced like one moment but then did nothing...Kennedy, Wigley (best.goal.ever), Young players like Philliskirk, Frain and Daws coming through. Crap old players like Thompson, Withe, McNaught.

Mamaries.

We wore white shorts on 6th Sept 1966 when Spurs brought over their black shorts to the midweek match at the Lane. The ref ordered us to wear white shorts. We won the match and decided to keep the "lucky" white shorts until after the 2-3 defeat to Birmingham in the League Cup quarter final on 7th December 1966. We then brought back the white shorts for all of the home games apart from the last one in the 1967-68 season.

The thickening of the stripes from Dec 1972 to May 1973 is a mystery to me as I wasnt aware of it at the time.

After the match Reg Brealey told Billy McEwan that he wasnt happy about the fact that our player had scored 2 goals against us.

I think we went from a locally produced kit, to one made by Umbro. They made a thicker striped kit, but for some strange reason it had a central white stripe. When they added the collar for the 73-74 season, same thickness, but it reverted to a red stripe in the centre and added the Umbro logo.
