Jeez he can't win, if he hadn't said this and maybe prompted the owners to get together he would have been critised for not keeping us in the no. Now he is being critised for calling the owners out.

You know something I trust Chris Wilder with my football club and back him with whatever he does because I believe whatever he does is for the good of my club.

Part of the reason I don’t post often. Too many of these wanker posts going round, and then when you do bring genuine news (which can find if they go and look) you get called out for it being fake or photoshopped. Not really worth the hassle.

This will really get S24Su forum gestapo going.

It seems Chris Wilder has played a blinder; whether it's just for his personal remuneration, the future of the club or both we'll have to see. I think this could indicate one of four scenarios:

1) This could largely be symbolic. In other words the owners have filled Wilder's mouth with gold to ensure that he gets on with the job and pipes down. The new contract might have a large release clause included which means that no club gets him cheaply.

2)The owners have agreed an interim working relationship which means that Wilder gets an increased budget and a new contract to keep himself and the board sweet. The new contract is not necessarily a pay rise, but a good PR move by all regardless of the finer details.

3) The ownership issue has been resolved, and the winner of the boardroom battle has offered Chris the new deal, presumably with a transfer budget to match his ambitions.

4)We are very close to a full takeover, and the new owner has indicated that he wants Chris and his staff to staff as a matter of priority. Budgets have changed in line with what what Chris thinks we need.

I dont see what a new contract would solve anything. Because money & length isnt the problem. So unless that contract comes with a plan & guarantees about budgets & players. I dont see why he would sign it

just looked & I still stand by what i said a week ago today. wilder "signing" should only be good news as it was never about wages or contract length. it was about budget & strategy for next season. & him staying can only be good. because we would hope that his ambitions to least try & maintain a play off push next season. but at the end of the transfer window we will see if these verbal promises turn into physical promises

View attachment 39572 Seems this is where the story has come from Danny04 do you know here credentials?

She had an exclusive interview with Paul Coutts before the Leeds match in October:-

Went to Silverdale School and Nottingham University. Has worked at Sky Sports for 10 years. Seems to be a genuine Blade.
I'm not sure how she managed to get the news before James "Scoop" Shield or Alan "Heard it through the Grapevine" Biggs though?

Ok Danny04 , Wilder will remain at the club for the duration of his contract, 100% cast iron guaranteed.

But what the point is that if wilder quits he belongs to sheffield united until someone pays compo. Even if we sack him we have to pay him until a new clubs takes on the contract. Looks at the shit we had trying to get cloudy who had left derby because he wanted himself and his backroom staff paying up

Started reading this thread optimistically and then the conspiracy theorists had me doubting. I’m coming through that now. Am I safe to have a gloat on rivals message boards yet « Wilder leaving « etc.bull ploppy. ?

Well he hasn't signed anything yet and there is little information on the terms of the contract. "Warding off interest from Sunderland" suggests there is genuine concern at Board level that this could happen and its not just paper talk. KM doesn't normally give pay increases out 6 months after awarding a new contract.

CW and his team were already contracted to be here next year so the implication they are due to sign up for another year due to a contract extension is inaccurate. There have been suggestions CW will stay another year but whats the point of only 1 year if we are supposed to be continually improving.

"The ownership battle is far from over". So a truce has occurred to try and keep the manager and agree a summer budget whilst the saga is destined to drag on for months. That doesn't fit with CW's desire for long term planning and strategy. This is the most worrying aspect as bitter court room battles will only de stabilise the Club and impact on how CW feels about committing to SUFC.

If the owners are still at logger heads then the significant investment CW desires is unlikely to be met in the summer budget.

The owners may just be protecting their asset in offering new terms to build in a bigger compensation fee in if he goes, sensible move but it won't address the issues CW raised.

It seems we are past the point of KM and the Prince settling their differences in an amicable manner and this is just a temporary fix. If CW is true to his word that its not just about money but how the Club moves forward then how can he sign up to the club long term whilst there is a civil war going on?

There's little point in him hanging around for a year getting disillusioned with off the field antics so is it just about the money or the Club meeting his ambitions? The next week will be interesting should the new Sunderland owners get EFL approval, nothing is ever certain in football.

I know Kate. She has a lot of contacts at United. She’s dam good at her job and knows more than most about football. Cracking lass. Blade for life. Knows everything.

You have lost me here. Are you saying his new contract is nothing to do with more money for him and that it has everything to do with budget and strategy?

If I were a gambling man I would suggest that his increased salary and length of contract are covered in the contract and it has F all about ambition and budget....

That was a byproduct. If they offered him an acceptable transfer kitty, he'd have to accept a pay increase also.

I'm just trying to think... if maybe... nope... there's no way I could put a more negative spin on this news. Well done.

That was a byproduct. If they offered him an acceptable transfer kitty, he'd have to accept a pay increase also.

Why couldn't they just assure him as to the transfer kitty and not bother with a new contract at all, if as you say his pay increase was merely a byproduct?

Haven't we hauled players over the forum coals for threatening to leave in order to get a pay rise?

£20m :D behave.
I bet you that the figure of £20m will be "the figure" within the next few weeks and if we aren't spending 7 or 8 million on a player somebody on here will be demanding to know "where's the money gone" lets start a poll to see who will be the first,
