Maybe I'm being harsh, but do lots of kids these days dream of running out in a Scotland shirt at Hampden? Do many English kids, for that matter, dream of playing for a 1-0 win in front of bunch of corporate tossers at Wembley? Who was the last great Scottish footballer a kid in Govan might want to emulate? I can see why you might want to get into the Spanish or German side, there's huge exposure, but Scotland?

As I say, maybe I'm being unfair on them.

I think you've hit the nail on the head. Certainly our domestic teams don't even flatter to deceive. We, the UK international teams, have struck a rich vein of mediocrity when compared to the top international sides. Why would those sides who consistently fail to deliver inspire anyone?

I agree. For years I've thought Scottish football's problem is that there are no decent players around, but they don't even pick those that are.

I think Fleck is still remembered in Scotland as a young hot headed troublemaker, he had a dust up with Ally McCoist at Rangers and I think that is informing views of him up there.

...and that’s part of the reason they’re fucking wank za. Suarez spits and bites players, Shearer booted Neil Lennon in the head, Roy Keane stamped on Southgate and did quite a few other things, all these were on purpose and they all continued to get picked for their international teams, hopefully you get the theme now Za?

Everyone deserves a second chance, some fuckers like Suarez and Keane had multiple chances and the samples I have given is just a very small sample size in terms of footballers having dust ups and wrongdoings.

If you see the draw, if they get out of the groups anything beyond that is a surprise and beyond the quarter finals very doubtful, as whether they win the group or finish runners-up the opponents in the QFs will likely be Brazil or Germany.

I get that most anything is possible if they push through the group stages, and that in itself can be interesting. If the draw keeps Brazil and Germany apart it could amount to a final with real bite. Don't ask why, but I always have a sneaking 'like' for the Italians at competition level....not that long before the World Cup arrives too.
