He’s the favourite with short odds for the next Sunderland job. Twitter says there is a connection from CW Oxford days to their new chairman?

The new chairman has also made them debt free which is suppose be close to £100million!

appreciate your sentiment, but that's my point!
Colmans contract has £4mil left to go, even if he settles on 50% he has £2mil in the bank and how damaged is his reputation? expect him to be in another job (already muted for west ham) within a month or 2!
once your on that gravy train your on it for the rest of your life, ala Moyes, Hodgson, Sam etc
this is CWs chance to take a step into that category of been well rewarded for failure, rather than been taken for granted for success

I know nothing about the consortium who have bought into the club. However, if they have the capability to clean house and sort out the clusterfuck* that the last board made of the club, then they become a very different beast than the one Coleman took over.

Totally. Think they'll have to clear House and start again to get rid of their big earners. So from that perspective Tufty has done that once already.

Probably the biggest obstacle will be Tufty is under contract and McCabe will demand a fee for him, whereas Big Mick is free. Plus for a plethora of reasons Big Mick's CV is stronger than Tufty's....

It was £1m per year and he'd have been paid off so he's just pocketed £3m for 5 months work. The Wales job will have paid £500k per year maximum and he was always on a hiding to nothing after reaching the Euro semis; no way are they going to top that any time soon.

Neil Harris; smaller budget, better result.

If that's for us then forget it. He's Miwaw through and through: think early era Neil Warnock but a little more personable. My shortlist would include the Cowley brothers at Lincoln.

They don't play it long all the time, they play some decent football at times. They've absolutely revolutionised Lincoln City, back into the league, £1.5m profit from FA Cup run, won at Wembley in front of 27,000 people from Lincoln and they should be in this seasons playoffs as well. The club is debt free, best gates in the division, new training ground about to be built and best of all the whole town are walking around in Lincoln City shirts. It's a far cry from 3 years ago when 1,200 were turning out to see them play Alfreton Town.

So it would take a good size Championship club to tempt them, if we loose Wilder (which is very unlikely) then

Bert was told yesterday that Danny Cowley is moving his family up to Nettleham and brother Nick to Welton, both villages just north of Lincoln. Within range of Bramall Lane should the need arise.

I love Deano but as a manager I don't have emotions for the fact he's an ex favourite, or any other ex favourite. I want a manager for my club that's proven to be successful and that's about it. I really wanted Neil Warnock, Micky Adams and of course Wilder but that was because all three were proven managers and the fact they were a Blade was a bonus but that's about it. It is a massive bonus I admit, but I'd never appoint a novice manager unless I thought they were a very special case. I was against Speed taking over for example because again he was unproven and if Sunderland go for Phillips then it is a huge risk and it'll soon turn sour.

I wouldn't appoint him either if I were Rangers. Let someone like Killie take the risk but often these ex big players consider the Championship the lower leagues, let alone Leagues one and two. That's why Wilder serving his apprenticeship at Alfreton and Halifax is invaluable. He was prepared to go into the muck and nettles of it and fair play to him.

If he leaves for Sunderland then he leaves for Sunderland. I won't be losing sleep over it although of course I don't want him to go. Sheffield united will continue to exist when Wilder has gone.

Wednesday haven't played in the top flight since the millennium, and the Blades have had one season in the top flight since 1994.

Sunderland have spent much more time in the top flight recently than our two, have a cracking stadium, get big crowds, and are now debt-free.

The last twenty years or so have been a disaster for this city football-wise.

Just been confirmed on Talksport radio.

They’ve spoken to the probable incoming owner of Sunderland.
He spoke to Jim White at Talksport this morning and confirmed

1: The deal to take over Sunderland is almost done.
2: His number 1 manager target will be Chris Wilder, apparently they worked together at Oxford, so know each other well.
3: He’s hoping Sunderland return to the Championship at the 1st attempt, then he said once in the Championship they have ambitious plans with big investment.

The presenters have just said that with the in fighting going off at Sheff Utd it’s not such a daft move to go to Sunderland and as Wilder will know the new Sunderland chairman it’s possible he might step down a division in an attempt to fulfil his ambitions.
