Prince Buys into Belgian Club: KFCO Beerschot Wilrijk

No mention at all of whether this means a partnership between Beerschot and SUFC. Or is it normal in these kind of situations that a partnership between the clubs always goes unsaid?

Either way, if there is to be some kind of partnership, it's weird that none of the Sheffield rags have picked up on it yet.

They already have players from all over the world. Belgium is the cheapest place in Europe to "collect" players and get them qualified to move to the UK.

It's not just Belgian born players.

As far as commitment is concerned, we can have a good look at them as they develop. This would meet Chris's criterion of knowing their characters before they join.

I'd share your enthusiasm UB if there was more in that statement about working closely with Sheffield United. All this tells us is the Prince does have money to spend but is not currently investing more in the Blades. Coupled with McCabe saying the owner model isn't working you do wonder if there are problems in the relationship. If its for the benefit of SUFC then its a progressive move. I'll wait to see what the Club says about this. I presume they'll have to make some comment bearing in mind it involves our co-owner and Technical Director.

Yes, as per the interview he gave James Shield at the end of October.

"We need to introduce international scouting for players. It is a must in the Premier League and a good thing in the Championship. English players are expensive. You can choose from a bigger pool."

He is right, we do need an international scouting network. Obviously, we need to get this right but we could have a very useful route to EU and non EU players now.

Given we're leaving the EU, that would be a classic United manoeuvre.

Yes, at the end of October it was reported in Belgium he was interested, around the time he gave his interview to James Shield.

Money has now changed hands. It'll be interesting to see what, if any, statement appears on our website.

Is it SUFC related?

I would take a team of
--------------------Moore------------------------
--Alderweireld Vermaelen Vertonghen--
Baldock-----------------------------Stevens-
--------Naingollan Fleck Dembele--------
----------------Brooks-----Clarke------------

Everyone loves a Belgian :)
Cannot leave Duffy out, otherwise not bad, move fleck to the left, put Dembele on the bench and Duffy in the centre, sorted

Also their logo reminds me of Cresta pop from my youth. I miss the strawberry flavour.

Other than its appears to be the Princes baby, you're spot on as usual.

I didn't say it wasn't, merely responding to the notion that a conduit to the EU wouldn't be worth much in future.
I did point out about a month ago that it wasn't McCabe that was the issue this time and indicated there was trouble at boardroom level.
We managed to alight upon a Saudi prince unable to put a great deal of money in and his time here has delivered very little other than raised expectations for, as it turns out, little to no apparent reason.

After Brexit, the UK will set its own rules on skilled immigration and quotas. Visas may be involved but with the EPL about to have the biggest injection of funds ever, there is no way the footballing authorities will restrict its access to footballing markets. Beerschot already have many players from outside the EU. They will be brought nearer to us to review. It isn't just access to European players.

I was marginally in favour of staying in the EU but surprisingly enough the world won't collapse when we leave.

Give it a week or two.

Is it SUFC related?
Yes, if it is a piece of the jigsaw relating to our International Scouting network which the Prince, Kevin and Chris Wilder have all spoken about in the last few months.

We also have a Board director, Jan van Winkel, working there as well.

Don't you think they are linked?

Maybe so. But we wouldn't need to have an interest in another club in Belgium to bring in players when free movement isn't an issue any more.
Just good scouting outside the UK.

So other than to have a dig, no reason to post the comment.

Please don't try and pretend you were at the forefront of "trouble int boardroom" rumours. That was mentioned on here some time ago, not by me, by other posters.

Again, the Princes input. Discussed at length. You aren't saying anything that's not been said before, so no need to pretend you were some Alan Biggs type itk'r. Your "I said" should really be "I read"

You make many claims, Wilders not up to the job, Wilders not being backed, Preston are showing us up in the transfer window,Boardroom unrest, McCabe is to blame, Prince is to blame.

Yours is a rather scattergun attempt.

You will make much more money in England than in Belgium so I'm assuming this is a side deal and not his main focus

Personally no. Maybe this is what has irked McCabe. Maybe not. A poster on here PM's me with info which the one person I have received Genuine info off - no more than five or six times over the years - confirmed. Given McCabes time in Belgium and no mention of him, I doubt it's related to United.

Re Rip Van, I can't see him staying long unless HRH buys the KMc out. Too many feathers ruffled already.

The Spar has no mention yet of our new emergency loan goalkeeper, when they eventually do I suspect they will say we have him on loan from some unknown Belgian club..

Their fans are rats.

That's not an insult. It's what they call themselves ('ratten').

Check 'em out ...

More concerned about the ladyboys, bottom right.

The German for Town Hall always makes me laugh, pronounced - Rat House..

I love Duffy but Dembele is God like. IF we were to go up I would look to sign him from spurs. Seems under used and IMO one of the best box to box midfielders in the league. With his age they may let him go for £10m

Interesting. I know it isn't a purchase by Blades Leisure / SUFC, it is solely the Prince but I can't see why he would do that unless it benefits United.

I think it may be what has irked KM as he would probably have preferred any money to go towards the JTW.

The Prince would have to purchase another "considerable" football entity if he parted company with us. There is no point in just having a lower league Belgian club. I suppose they could grow it and maybe get European competition but really why bother.

We managed to alight upon a Saudi prince unable to put a great deal of money in and his time here has delivered very little other than

100 points, winning the 1st division as champions, then climbing to the summit of the Championship.

So sweet FA really, maybe with 50/100 million invested we could match our illustrious neighbours meteoric rise fall.

Or at least become MASSIVE

That is an alternative approach. Leicester City with all their money have gone down the same route of acquiring a Belgian club as I believe there are some financial advantages.

We'll see.
