Mystery solved ! This is what Chris was interested to know about !

Not sure how we all missed this yesterday but a Google Translate is below.

OK, what does this mean for SUFC going forwards ?

DCA and Prince Abdullah will jointly build a sporting and financially strong KFCO Beerschot Wilrijk

DCA and Prince Abdullah Bin Mossaad, co-owner of Sheffield United have reached an agreement this evening to continue investing together in KFCO Beerschot Wilrijk. In the coming weeks, further work will be done to officialize this cooperation.

Prince Abdullah has more than twenty years of experience in football, including one of the owners of Sheffield United FC. That English tradition club promoted last season with 100 points in the League One and is currently competing for a ticket for the playoffs in The Championship. But Prince Abdullah also supports Saudi sports, in various functions.

"I am very proud of this agreement with DCA and owner Francis Vrancken to become a shareholder of KFCO Beerschot Wilrijk," said Prince Abdullah in a first reaction. "Our goal is to turn KFCO Beerschot Wilrijk into a strong Pro League club, with a core that is supported by 35% of the players trained by Beerschot Wilrijk's youth academy, and I was greatly impressed by the social responsibility of the club, with its seven hundred youth players, but also by the number of top players trained by the club in the past Players such as Jan Vertonghen, Toby Alderweireld, Thomas Vermaelen, Moussa Dembele and Radja Nainggolan prove that Beerschot Wilrijk has the potential to become a club to be based on our own trained talents. "

The rest of the translation of that web page.

"The current board and the many volunteers have done a fantastic job over the past four and a half years, and have shown that they have the right team to lead the association to new successes." In the coming months, together with the club and DCA, working hard to further professionalize KFCO Beerschot Wilrijk as a club. "

"Finally, I would like to thank the supporters of KFCO Beerschot Wilrijk for their unconditional support during the past years, without which the club would never have caught my attention.DCA and I are both convinced that the magic and culture of a club lies in the involvement of its supporters, so we look forward to contributing our share so that the supporters remain proud of our club ", says Prince Abdullah.

KFCO Beerschot Wilrijk also announces the appointment of Jan Van Winckel as board member. He will head the technical committee at the Kiel.

Jan Van Winckel: "Returning to the Kiel evokes many beautiful memories for me." "I experienced a great time at Beerschot, and that is why I have followed the club in the past few years. I also noticed that KFCO Beerschot Wilrijk did not build on loose sand. Thanks to a clear, transparent structure, the club was able to promote to 1B in a responsible and careful manner last season, so that the current board has drawn a clear line under the past, so that the Club can look forward healthy again. "

"I am happy to be able to participate in this new project and in the coming weeks we will make an analysis together with the board and the technical staff to see how we can further professionalize and I hope to contribute to this with my experience and my I think that the clear synergy between the investors with a local anchoring and the international network with a lot of know-how is an important asset to make KFCO Beerschot Wilrijk a stable Pro League club. take. "

"At the moment we have to keep the technical staff and the players working quietly and try to support them as well as possible."

Clarifies a bit what our new Board director Jan van Winckel will be doing.

I think it's a positive start to international recruitment.

Yeah I'll take a Dembele thanks.

Hope this works out better than Chengdu Blades and Ferencvaros though.

Interesting that Jan with a Van is heavily involved.

Also their logo reminds me of Cresta pop from my youth. I miss the strawberry flavour.

Another piece in the jigsaw. Think the Prince will take his pound back and leave now. Ok, so he's probably contributed much more, as detailed on other posts, but let's face it, he's been disappointing. All the "Liverpool type investment " never materialised. Who ever is filling his shoes doesn't need that big feet really.

Dam right we'd take Dembele.

One of the many sticks with which to beat the club we claim to support and in particular, a chairman who has paid more into our club than all the rest of us put together. It’s as easy as ‘going all in’ with someone else’s money.

Alright, but seriously. I don't know what it is. Spending fuck loads on Southampton players?

What is Liverpool investment?

Nor quite a "I am Spartacus" moment, but Steve's request is both apt and necessary. I know the original comment has since been swept aside, but it still has pertinence as we push forward in the hope that just around the corner there are blue skies.....to paraphrase a certain scouser, "All we are asking, is give Chris a wad".

So, would this be like a feeder club or what? I can't put my finger on why but HRH is starting to fuck me off.

And as you should know, I'm in total agreement Pinchers. I suppose what I hope we'll have one day is that elusive thing called transparency.....just took my pulse, it reminded me to stop being silly and give up asking daft questions.

Liverpool type investment was never said.

Without knowing the true facts and whys and wherefores, you can look at it both ways.

A foot in both camps with possible access to promising Belgian players, or people not fully committed to our club?

It will become clear in time, or knowing this club maybe it won't

Prob just means another hotel to stick on the side of a stadium for Kev

Yes, as per the interview he gave James Shield at the end of October.

"We need to introduce international scouting for players. It is a must in the Premier League and a good thing in the Championship. English players are expensive. You can choose from a bigger pool."

He is right, we do need an international scouting network. Obviously, we need to get this right but we could have a very useful route to EU and non EU players now.

They already have players from all over the world. Belgium is the cheapest place in Europe to "collect" players and get them qualified to move to the UK.

It's not just Belgian born players.

As far as commitment is concerned, we can have a good look at them as they develop. This would meet Chris's criterion of knowing their characters before they join.

If he’s investing there, surely that means he’s investing less here..

From my point of view that’ll be two football clubs he never goes anywhere near..

Well, it does show that Princey has more money to invest in a football club than he's currently putting into Dem Blades...

I would take a team of
--------------------Moore------------------------
--Alderweireld Vermaelen Vertonghen--
Baldock-----------------------------Stevens-
--------Naingollan Fleck Dembele--------
----------------Brooks-----Clarke------------

Everyone loves a Belgian :)

Liverpool type investment was never said.
Pretty sure it was one of the Radio Sheffield guys that said it - whoever it would have been at the time was asked about figures involved etc and basically said he didn't think it would all out splash the cash like Manchester City but more targeted recruitment with some money to spend 'think more like Liverpool'

Not necessarily, but if the 'McCabe won't match Princey re: wage/transfer budget' rumours are true then maybe it's money he wanted to invest here?

I suppose only time will tell whether the prince investing in this Belgian club is good news for us blades?. To be perfectly honest I have my doubts?. Surely we need an investor who has the blades as their priority?. Hopefully I'll be proved wrong in the long term!. Utb

Their fans are rats.

That's not an insult. It's what they call themselves ('ratten').

Check 'em out ...

"HRH Prince Abdullah Bin Mosa’ad and DCA have reached an agreement in principle to invest in KFCO Beerschot Wilrijk"

Sounds like a similar sort of arrangement...

Jim Giddings?

It was Jim who made the analogy which certain sections of the supporters have taken literally and use it at every opportunity.
