Time to make a decision Mr McCabe

And if he decides to carry on with the current model, will you be ready to put your millions in?

The gulf wasn't there for the first 20 games so it's got to be loss of confidence or dubious tactics, I don't know.

Logic seems a little flawed: if we had played Barcelona, and matched them for 20 mins, befor being subdued, would you blame confidence or "dubious tactics"?

Where they want this club to operate. Do they want to see us challenge for the Premier league, or stagnate in Championship/league 1. We're above out station currently and whilst splashing money is no guarantee of success, we aren't going to get to the Prem with league 1 & 2 players. We rode momentum up until Coutts's injury and were on a high but that bubble has burst

McCabe and the Prince are clearly putting all the money they wish to, to the tune of millions, keeping us alive as a club.

In case you were wondering, their isnt a queue of billionaires at Bramall Lane clamouring to buy the club, to turn us into the next Wolves.

We've come such a long way in a short space of time under the leadership of wilder/knill. I'm loving every moment of it despite our recent slump in form. Clearly McCabe or the prince don't have the required funds to push us to the next level. So is the answer to go out looking for a foreign millionaire to start throwing silly amounts of money at the club?. We've all seen what that plan has done to certain clubs in this league!. Yes it can potentially work in the case of wolves and villa but not for others like Sunderland or the grunters. you have to have the right investment from people who know what the club is about and not some Chinese millionaire who yes will throw cash around in the short term but then when things start to get a bit tough!! The money suddenly runs out and end up like Sunderland!!. It's a tough decision for our owners. Wilder has been working miracles on a tiny budget and I love him for it. Who knows what the future holds?. Utb

They won't get fined if they go up, Bournemouth have a fine hanging over them that will only be paid if they are relegated. The football league has no jurisdiction over premiership teams. Wolves have took the 100 million gamble of going up with no penalty
ffp is designed to stop citeh and psg gatecrashing the nice little club where barca, real and bayern always win

That's exactly the difference.

Even on Tuesday night: the likes of Terry, Grealish and Snodgrass showed what difference £40k a week players can make.

Our issue has been, we've been looking at S6 Mittwoch and assuming all £40k players are like theirs and we don't need such players to challenge.

The truth is they aren't!!
put your money where your mouth is mate and buy the club.. didn’t realise we had so many billionaires in here

Time to make a decision, could you clarify that?

You have a valid point regarding how far we are behind Wolves but lest we forget, we’ve not been that far behind the rest of the teams we’ve played this season even since Coutts’s injury and even in the games we’ve lost like Bristol and Villa. I think we need a bit of realism here, we’ve not just been beaten by arse-end Birmingham City on our own patch. We’ve been beaten by a team with players comparable to a top half Premier League side who a pissing the league. Ask Derby, the team in second place currently how ‘lacking’ we are, Wilfer’s worked miracles.

We are battling way above our financial level (which is bottom 6), and even though I’m not a fan of McCabe’s, the only decision that he can make that would enable us able to really complete with most of the teams above us would be to sell up to a multi billionaire. Tonight wasn’t about anything else but us being outclassed by a team that had cost tens of £millions to put together with one single player probably costing 3 or 4 times more than our whole squad has.

BTW, I find the ‘little league one’ comment a bit strange, especially as it took us 6 years to get out of it and most Blades enjoyed every minute of last season.
post of the century .. superb

....and that's the thing SP, it's now 'billionaires' as opposed to 'multi millionaires' of 10 years ago, who were a step up in wealth from the 'millionaires' of 20 yrs ago, who were loaded compared to the 'local lad done good' of 30 yrs ago. As a comparison of owners & a bit of perspective:

Wolves = Multi Billionaire
Derby = Multi Billionaire
Villa = Multi Billionaire
Cardiff = Billionaire
Fulham = Multi Billionaire
Bristol = Multi Billionaire
Preston = Billionaire

exactly.. and when you get to prem level you’re dealing essentially with state bankrolled clubs

You have to accept that hard work and passion will ultimately only get you so far. When we come up these multi million pound teams and squads we really are a country mile away. We can always compete but have to realise in certain games we will be out classed, today was one of the days. But generally over the season we have put up a good show in the vast majority of games, we are competitive with limited resources. It's also fare to say we could invest 20 million in players and still not get promoted

Count to 10 buddy...

Not sure where pointing out that in the past two games the only difference between us and the opposition has been £40k a week players, suddenly becomes anything other than pointing out fact.

But hey, feel free to get angry and spew anger at fellow Blades. It's ok, it's the norm around here. If it helps you can blame me. It's all my fault.

This ^ x100...

I for one am loving the ride. Tufty may get it wrong but it's his first season at this level.

It's like going out for a drive with a fit 18 year old bird who's learning to drive. It's a bumpy ride as she learns but I just can't stop smiling!!

some of our fans have to wake up to reality
mccabe affords what he can , but in wealth terms compared to some even in the championship we are 10 bob millionaires

Until we can attract a lot more money or get up via the play offs and get tv money to spend we are using pay day loans to get players compared to clubs with pre paid AMEX PLATINUM CARDS

we are like teletext holiday makers trying toget into Puerto Banus yacht club

We might not have played Barcelona but we were beating teams in the first half of the season who are now making us look average or worse. We are on relegation form over the past 12 games or so, simple as that.

... and we have that rare thing - a manager who not only appreciates that, but is embracing that challenge!!

WAit...what? Some fucking knobhead paid 6 million for Madine. Fuck me side ways.

We are so far behind in quality compared to Wolves it’s embarrassing. We look slow, unimaginative, lacking in skill, all-round out-classes by them so far. I hope Mr McCabe is watching, this is exactly what I said after the Villa game. Premier league players who cost big money are making us look amateur. We did well with very little in League 1 and carried on the momentum until the Coutts injury.

Time to make a decision Mr McCabe

Decision?

What are his options?

If you are implying HE should match the spending of clubs like Wolves, then give your head a wobble. He hasn’t got that kind of money, Wolves will be at least £60m down from when their new owners came in to the end of the season.
Perhaps then you suggest he should simply leave? But who then covers the losses we are ALREADY making?

I know, maybe Mr McCabe should sell all his other businesses, all his assets, and plough it all into one attempt at promotion to the premier league. That way, all us fans would love him forever as we are all so grateful for his continued efforts. And just so that we are all in this together, all us fans, like him, should gamble everything we own and chuck it in the pot too.

weve got poor results , but outplayed villa stay calm we are due a few breaks
get told they even out over a season we are surely due some then
weve games against poorer tems left dont face wolves on fire every game
we are not in relegation form , wednesday are showing how thats done

it would appear that it’s not fact to some folks mate.. if you read my posts then i’m actually agreeing with you and advicating people calm down
apologies if i misread your post

edit: sorry i quoted the wrong post Rog!
i’m loving it me.. we’re on telly.. people are giving us respect.. one of the best parts of the season so far was the disgruntled Leeds fan on c4 last night saying ‘.. and we’ve got to play Sheff united next week’.. that’s how far we have come

Sorry pal, just leapt to conclusions based on the number of Championship Manager Heroes on here who seem to think getting a new owner who wants to spunk moneh is the (only) answer!

“the championship is a different championship to the one we left a few years ago. To get to the top of the championship, unless you have parachute payments like Burnley you have to invest much more than was the case a few years ago. We’d (himself and the Prince) be ready for that” - Kevin McCabe May 2016.

Now, we did get to the summit this season so I suppose that can be argued, but it didn’t last. It didn’t last either through Coutts’ injury or simply because we don’t have strength in depth.

But has he invested in the way he is suggesting he would do? I don’t think so. Far from it.

Baldock - league 1
Holmes - league 1
Leonard - league 1
Lundstram - league 1
Lee Evans - championship
Wilson on loan from Man United.
Blackman - Chelsea. (Who have I forgot??) Hardly spending like Burnley is it?

A man of his word is Mr McCabe

Quite clearly...

Wolves fan in peace here.

Re the FFP issue I'm just going to leave this here. https://oscillatingwildly.net/somebody-is-wrong-on-the-internet/

We're nowhere near breaking any rules.

I don't think you are actually. Seeing as you will be going up things will even out and you'll be fine. It's the pigs who need looking at, they've spent sums comparable to you and they are going down and the losses will pile up, so it will be interesting to see what is done about them.

but.. we’ve basically hoovered up all the best L1 talent.. some of these lads are quite clearly good enough at this level

That isn’t my point. “We’d be ready for it” can quite easily be manipulated into what you’ve said. And he himself will tell us that. But it’s not enough is it? I know it’s easy for me to sit here on the toilet and tell him how he should spend his money but “think Liverpool” and “we’d be ready for it” aren’t exactly what’s been happening. Liverpool signed van Dijk for £70m. We signed a (good) Baldock from MK Dons for 1% of that. “Think Liverpool”.

Think not.

we can’t live with that level of spending

Some of these teams you refer to are big teams at this level with expensively assembled squads that we’re always going to “get going” at some point.

Coming into this season I said a top ten finish would be a good first season and I stand by that, when you look at the teams above us there is probably only Bristol city who will have a similar budget and they’re two years ahead of us in terms of championship football yet behind us are still plenty of big clubs with bigger budgets. We’re not doing bad at all and I think it’s important that we all see that, maybe we’ve been spoilt over the last 18 months

They won't get fined if they go up, Bournemouth have a fine hanging over them that will only be paid if they are relegated. The football league has no jurisdiction over premiership teams. Wolves have took the 100 million gamble of going up with no penalty
There have been quite a few changes to FFP recently. The Premier League has now agreed it will collect Football League fines. That’s not what is holding up collection from Bournemouth. They’ve been waiting for QPR to “win” their case that the FL FFP guidelines are illegal. QPR have a fine of £40M to pay! They lost that case after 3 years in October 2017. The bad news is they will appeal so it’ll be delayed further.

Also, all clubs now have to submit forecasts for this season by 1 March. This means they can calculate the 3 year losses before the season ends (max £39m losses allowed). Sanctions include transfer embargo, fines and crucially point deductions. Clubs can therefore be denied promotion or play off places. All this will be made public before the season ends.

The vast majority pass, I don’t believe Wolves are in any danger and the parachute clubs should be OK by virtue of those extra payments.

There is one club I think will be sailing very close to the wind. Three years of failed attempts to get to the EPL. Step forward the Pigs.
