Trouble at swill

I vowed to stay off the General Chat section to avoid the dogmatic rants from Corbyn's stormtroopers. However, seeing as it's spilled over into this section, let me just say that your post explains perfectly why you can't discuss anything with these guys.

I'm happy to discuss the notion of class, which I happen to believe exists. There's much about being born into a financially deprived family that I'll talk about with anyone. What puzzles me, even mystifies me, is why something so fundamental as this, the rape of another human being, should somehow become a 'don't cross line' that subscribes to the most rigid definitions of class, rather than become what I believe most people would hope for, a case where fellow human beings help and assist those who are clearly desperate for kindness?

You can't really 'discuss' politics with most people who have polar opposite views, whichever side of the fence you're on. No one has ever listened to the view of an individual or read a post on the net that makes them abandon lifelong beliefs.
Particularly extremists. If someone said to me 'I used to be a fascist but now I'm a communist' I'd think 'no, you've never been either you contrarian simpleton'.

Arguing politics is like arguing religion. You're rarely, if ever, going to convert someone from one faith to another but you'll certainly piss a lot of people off by trying.

My problem though is you can't even discuss politics with them even though you're on the same side of the fence. I'm a lifelong labour man but seen as a right wing tory scumbag by these guys because I can't stand Corbyn.

After all the discussion about these tarts I followed Crabby's advice and sought out the stall in the Moor Market this morning. Snaffled* a couple together with a Waterall's pork pie and a bag of scratchings. Heavenly. Life's a bitch isn't it.

*Meant scoffed
Wateralls pork pies mmmmmm :rolleyes::rolleyes:

I have no interest in other peoples opinions on life, politics or religion, the only opinions that matters to me are my own.

A question for you on that point [not jumping on you here, genuinely interested]
Is it Corbyn or his policies that you dislike?

I ask because I don't particularly like Corbyn as a person but his policies are about as Labour as we could hope for. Re-nationalising and investing in public services, fairer taxation and at least trying to promote social justice, count me in for that lot. I don't agree with him on everything but I do on more than the other parties.

I tend to vote on policy not personality as I usually distrust most politicians by default. Few have given me reason to change

I was going to say 'to think Carlos will underestimate us and treat it as another game is underestimating them' will never happen... they'll know what's coming.

Then can't remember what else I was going to say as I'm do fucking hungry now.

'Go Outdoors' actually....Sorry, my pedantry got the better of me ;)

Yes, I dislike Corbyn but then again I dislike all politicians similarly so I wouldn't hold that against him personally.

The problem I have is that the triumvirate of him, McDonnell and Abbott couldn't run one of the burger vans outside the Lane let alone this country. I had the misfortune to live through the 70's when his ilk bought this country to its knees. The likes of Jack Jones, Scanlon, Scargill and Red Robbo set about fucking this country all in the name of Marxism. The backlash to this resulted in nearly 20 years of Thatcherism which put us on the road to ruination where we stand now. Politics will forever swing from one extreme to the other when this lot are involved to the benefit of no-one.

Stretch, I answered your post out of courtesy as you are a good poster. It won't be long before the usual suspects wade in so please leave it at that.

Fair dos mate. Agree on many of those points by the way.

I suspect that Crab Industries total lack of ethics, conscience and quality will see them overcome any johnny-come -lately competition

Portuguese cuisine. Mangy Sardines, scrawny "chicken" Piri Piri sauce hiding everything and anything, crap wine.

Looks like competition Boss.,

Nothing we can't handle.

On a serious note, I love the proper Chicken Piri Piri. The authentic sauce isn't the thick and gloopy one, its one that is applied sparingly to the chicken. I can see why some people would call it scrawny, but I like it. It tastes better and I don't mind eating it off the bone.

I like the wine too, but thats just me. I'm a bit of a phillistine and an expert in nothing, I just enjoy it thats all. One thing that does hamstring me though, I don't eat a lot of seafood which pretty much buggers me for about half the menu over there.

a large dollop of Grated carrot with the approximation of "full english" is one thing that struck me about Portuguese cuisine :O
