You should've let it lie.
I didn't respond to your last post as it was so weak it didn't deserve an answer:
Let's just wait and see how Evans does, you don't even want that for the man. He's already proved he's good enough for league 1 by ragging Walsall our perennial stumbling block in the half hour of football he was afforded, he came on and made the difference that Duffy and Brooks couldn't. I don't know why you want Evans to fail (I do really) but you do, may I suggest you review what is available on the internet about the crime he supposedly committed and use some critical thinking about what you see. I know that is beyond you, are you a rosser? A member of the judiciary? Because these are the only wankers who wouldn't admit he was being set up. Come on own up why you think he was guilty.
Ok, I’ll start by saying that when someone asks in 5 posts’ time ‘why aren’t you talking about football’, you’ll have to put your hand up and say “that’s my fault.”
There are 3 reasons I don’t want him to play for us:
He has barely played for 5 years, he occupied a fair amount of our transfer budget and he has had one good season at a lower level. He was also quite clearly injured. Added to all the hassle he brings with him, it made no sense whatsoever from a footballing point of view. He has done NOTHING to counter any of those arguments and as it stands, even his biggest fans can’t logically call it a good signing yet.
He is morally reprehensible and falls below the standards we should expect from one of our players. They are paid a fantastic wage to represent the club. Were this a sport such as Aussie Rules, he’d have been hung out to dry by his fellow professionals and suspended by his own club before anyone else had chance. Somewhere along the line, football lost its own sense of morality because some players happen to be good. Connor Brown was released for Tweeting the girl involved in the Ched case, whereas Ched got his contract paid out and was welcomed back (until it became too toxic) for (at the time) raping someone. It is utter hypocrisy and Ched’s actions that night brought shame on the entire club.
Lastly, yes I do believe he’s guilty. I wasn’t on the jury, but from the facts that I’ve read, there is no doubt he had sex with her and little doubt she couldn’t remember. I don’t believe she was consenting and I don’t believe that re-directing your taxi to a hotel room, conning another key out of reception staff and bursting into a room because your mate said he had a bird qualifies as consent. I don’t think he reasonably believed she was consenting (Sex Offences Act, 2003). I also don’t think that her previous experiences or conduct had any relevance as to how drunk she was or whether she was consenting. I think he was determined to have sex with her anyway and that when he said “she said yes” he was lying. Both he and McDonald both said the other asked her, as they didn’t know who said it because it never happened.
It doesn’t really matter to me whether he raped her or not. He served his time. The point is, he falls well below the moral standards I expect from a Sheffield United footballer and I am unwilling to put that aside based on how good he was. He is a scumbag and he can go play for someone else.
You can say he was set up, but that just makes you sound ridiculous, as if there’s a conspiracy of some sort. The CPS thought a crime had been committed, so they prosecuted it.
As for critical thinking being beyond me, you can get personal if you need to, but it just makes your viewpoint weaker. I’m comfortable with my education and level of intelligence.
I still respect your opinion, I just disagree. And he’s going to fail, just like he has so far.
