Ched Evans About to Return?

I initially thought he was guilty.
When the evidence came out, I thought he was not guilty.
I didn't want us to sign him again at the end of last season.
When he came on against Walsall, it was an amazing feeling.
I want this to work out for him more than anybody else in the team.
I hope nothing else happens to make me change my mind.

Oh wow Ched might be back at some point. WE'RE ALL SAVED.

A fit Ched back to something 11/12 season form would be a massive bonus in the second half of the season. Conjuring a goal out of nothing could certainly help to breakdown the lesser teams that are turning up at Lane setting up for a point with a blanket defence.

I just want him to get fit and sharp and stay that way throughout pre season.

Anything else is a bonus. But at the same time, he's not got time on his side now unfortunately.

To be honest I think we’d be best off forgetting about ched for a while - luckily the strikers we have for are doing a good job thus far and finding the net.

Did you write that line in November?

We've scored 10 goals in the last ten games and got 7 points from a possible 30 in our last 10 league games. We are crying out for some more strikers to increase competition, Ched Evans would be a welcome addition. GLTTL ;)

We’re the joint 4th highest scorers in the division and we need saving by someone who’s scored 5 goals since 2012.

Didn’t need him in the summer, need him even less now. We have far better options in our squad and they have been proving it.

*tin hat on
** ready to face accusations of not being a Blade for daring to say someone who’s barely played in 5 years probably isn’t going to fire us to promotion

Chris Wilder disagrees with you, that's all that matters to me,

Ched could be a great asset during the run in or even play offs should we make them. No need to rush him though, we have 3 proven strikers along with Wilson, Lavery and Brooks which is plenty of options in the meantime.

My personal dream was for him to smash the winner against Wednesday. The abuse he got off them, guised under a moral highground (when actually it was pure giddyness about their promotion chances) made me really want him to get one over on them.

A reasonable argument but already countered with

I thought I'd used it for the last time but I'd say GLTTL too.

Good news if Ched is close to being available, his desire was there before but he was clearly not fit because of the injury. Since signing Donaldson and the emergence of Brooks we've not had a major issue up front.

Adding Wilson, Ched and Brooks coming back leaves us in a very healthy place as we head towards the run in!

It might mean that Lavery is sent out on loan though

What does GLTTL mean?

The point is it’s naive to think he’s the answer. I would also argue that it’s not the strikers’ fault we’ve struggled. It’s not as if we’ve missed a glut of chances, certainly not in the games I’ve watched.

We are struggling because we haven’t adequately replaced our best player and he’s a central midfielder. It’s upset the whole way the team plays and the dip in form coincides with Coutts getting injured.

To point to a lack of goals is to oversimplify the matter at best. To rely on a man who has scored 5 goals in 5 years is little short of crazy. He has next to nothing to add.

In my opinion :)

Please inform me of the time limits when replying to your anti Ched posts.

Please tell me you’re like, 14 years old. It would explain a lot and it’ll make your posts much easier to accept. I suspect you’re not though and the petulance gets a little tiring, probably for everyone else who reads or duels as well.

A return to where ? Chesterfield ?
He wont be getting anywhere near our first team squad for at least a couple of months
Did Chris Wilder tell you that or is it another negative misinformed opinion written as fact?
You really have no more idea than the vast majority of us I think it could be argued;)
Let's just give the bloke a chance, in much the same way you might want to be when you have made poor choices.
We're supporters, let's get better at doing that and I reckon the boys on the pitch will respond, whichever squad think Chris and Alan think best for the job ahead.:)

It's very grown up of you to want a serious injury to happen to a player of Sheffield United isn't it?

This response much less well argued, I don't think anybody is suggesting Evans C. is the answer just that he is another option, if Thomas was getting games I'd say he covers part of what Evans brings to the squad but for some reason Wilder doesn't see enough in him to select him for the big games.
To suggest that Coutts being injured is the reason we are struggling, is to use your own term naive. We also missed a specialist RWB, had some pretty bad luck and who would have guessed it? Once teams realised we weren't whipping boys and it was us holding the whip, they have decided to defend in numbers. You've brought out the 5 goals in 5 years stat again when 4 of those years he wasn't even playing football! To use obviously biased facts such as this only harms your argument.

Scored for the u23s the other day didn't he?...

In my opinion Ched may well have plenty to offer. For his age he has had relatively little wear and tear on his body for obvious reasons. He has shown before that he possesses all the attributes of a top class striker. He now is getting the CW/AK input. He is motivated. Once truly match fit he may surprise the doubters and the anti-Ched brigade.

It's clearly more than a coincidence that since Coutts injury we've been in relegation form.
It was a massive blow to the team and though Wilder found a way to shore things up and got good results at Villa and Derby in the process we're still a good way from being the team we were.
Remains to be seen whether the new players make a difference.

Two minutes to chime in there. A record! :)

Does he? That remains in doubt until he’s fit as we’ll then see how much game time he gets.

Yes he does disagree with you mate

''Good news about Ched got 30 mins for U23 and scored, so he is knocking on my door every half hour, which I love. I love that, I love that attitude ''
