Is there any truth in the reports of United fans singing about Chansari’s wife, or is it made up by the piggies to deflect away from their own vile behaviour.

Have to say I’ve never heard any chant, but that’s not to say there isn’t one. I’ve not seen the wording or tune anywhere, not even from the accusers (pigs)

My feeling is it’s bollox, a desperate attempt to paint us in a bad light as well now they themselves have received some bad publicity.

Chanting about Chansari’s wife seems an obscure target. I’ve not seen her or heard of her. But then again you’d say the same about our managers young daughter.

There’s a story in today’s Star about how both sets of fans are guilty of this chanting. Is it a case of the Star just taking the word of some pigs that it happened?

I was on the kop friday night and didn't hear anything like that. Would have thought it would be easier to say something about the ched chants than make something up to be honest

This was definitely chanted at Hillsborough but I haven't heard it sung anywhere else since.

Possibly being a little bit ignorant here, and I'm not saying that chanting is right, but how is saying that a woman has a penis considered sexist?

It'd be classed as transphobic and racist.

I've not heard the Chansiri chant and was at Hillsborough, although that's not to say it wasn't.

Their current issue is a whole different magnitude & severity, and certain people need to stop it because it represents human behaviour at its basest.

It could be argued that "full of tits, fanny and United" is somewhat sexist

In this confusing post modern world, could it not been seen as a liberating strong feminist rallying call, where girls can declare that their home city proudly supoports their maternal and sexual organs?

Perhaps less of a feminist anthem when sung by spotty 14 year old boys though.....

What would be nice is if instead of slavering and slavishly reporting on the latest "who said what" outrages (and opening comments to continue the "debate", the Stir actually came out with a Leader piece condemning this race to the bottom all of the Cities' bellends are seemingly hell bent upon. Something the clubs could get involved with too. The City was rightly proud of the campaign to take the Semi Final to Wembley all those years ago and one horrible incident aside, the Media contrasted the atmosphere of the Sheffield game against the toxicity of the North London one. Taking place today, I'd suggest it'd be the opposite. How has this happened and why isn't it being pulled up?

Sit on the Kop and I’ve never heard it.
Didn’t even know there was a song.

It does raise a point about what is classed as witty banter and what is offensive bile.
Who makes the decision? We’ve been singing the “tits fanny and United” song since the 80’s.
Although you don’t tend to hear it much these days.

Not heard it in the ground. Bankers Draft in September and at away games. It exists.

Didn't hear it other night but we have definitely sang "Dejpon Chansiri, your wife's got a cock!" before. Defo heard that at Hillsborough.

We also sing about shagging ones women and drinking ones beer. Is that not sexist?

Oh Sheffield, is wonderful...

Football chants are not meant to be taken so seriously,I myself have never walked with a widdle or talked with a squark or kicked a deceased Wednesday fan in the head and scrotum

Even 'Bladesmen' and 'Shoreham Boys'. It's not really very inclusive, when you think about it. I wonder if they will die off eventually.

I sit on the Kop and on Friday there was one brief murmuring start of chant something to do with Chansiris wife, but all of 20 secs and very muted.

Is claiming we'll shag their women sexist? We don't claim we'll be taking them by force or against their will. It might be worded in a boisterous way but maybe we dont mention we are planning to wine and dine them first because it doesn't fit into the song.
The song is a bit dated but it is probably 30years old, it's from a different time (which we know doesn't always make that acceptable) but I don't know of too many women that it's upset and I personally love it.

 Are we doing our best to collectively embarrass ourselves on here?

That's the magical thing about football isn't it? The laws of the land don't apply to it's followers. They're protected by a magical bubble. Anyhows, at the end of the day it's either 'banter' or 'handbags' and that's ok isn't it?

Isn`t the term `handbags` sexist

The way we are going in snowflake city all fans will be told they will be ejected if caught singing and be issued with compulsory ear plugs in case they hear something and sue or write to the stir. The PA will play Louis Armstrong's "What a Wonderful World" and no one will be allowed to speak.

If the guy next to me starts chanting something vile I just don't join in and when others don't or tell em to pack it in it just dies out and usually doesn't come back. I've never heard any of the alleged chanting so suspect its fairly rare and just a storm in a tea cup for a newspaper just wanting to stir up hatred. Reporting stuff like this which will probably just die out anyway serves no positive purpose other than it fills a journalist void instead of them being bothered to report stuff of real interest..

It happens at grounds all over the country, football WAS traditionally a 'working class mans game' so historic chants wont change overnight, however songs about someones wife having a dick, someones 16yr old daughter and rather been a 'p*ki than a Blade' are totally unacceptable, though lets not get into the category of everyone being offended, is boasting about 'shagging women and drinking beer' or your city being full of 'tits & fanny' offensive, that's a genuine question to any of the fairer sex on here.

Should we therefore sing "treat your women and sip your beer"?:)

Maybe the phrase "your women" hints at some sort of ownership so that may be sexist.........

Should I be outraged?;)

It's probably just me, but I don't see women as possessions, I don't see women making their own sexual decisions as slags, I don't see people of south asian descent as figures of ridicule, I don't see any race/sex/sexuality as inferior or as the punchline to a joke, neither do I see being the victim of rape as a joke. I just take the rather simplistic view that if a phrase or word is at worst illegal or at best socially unacceptable then I don't use it, whether I be at the match, the pub or work. The excuse that it was legal or socially acceptable 30 yrs ago and that's why it's still being sung at a match doesn't cut much ice with me. It's less about being outraged, more about culturally/socially evolving as a human being from the point of birth to the point of death.
