A certain inevitability

It's still way too early to think like that. Weren't scunny dancing at the top of league 1 last year only to fall apart and barely scrape the play offs. I fully understand we are a different team but getting ahead of ourselves is a delusional trait reserved for S6 not S2! Let's enjoy this ride were playing well and we can keep it going! Let's get excited in march if we're still joint second (or better lol) until then Bash is right 50 points then we push on!

Disagree.
Scunthorpe weren’t playing last season well whilst riding high, they had this knack of scraping results.
Although they do sometimes say that it’s the sign of a good team when you play poorly but still grind out wins.

However I tend to go with “performances over a period are an indicator of success’.
Because invariably results tend to catch up with performances sooner or later.

The good news is that we are incredibly consistent and always seem to perform well, even when we lose. We’ve been the better team in our last 9 matches on the spin, must admit the signs look good.

Agree with the other poster, there are several really talented teams in this division that on their day can blow away teams but it is looking like we are the most consistent team in this league and over a long season it’s the consistent teams that do the best.

I agree with some of what you say. But I did stress we are a different team to Scunthorpe last year. I don't want expectations and pressure to catch up with us. Most managers say don't get too excited when you win and depressed when you lose. At 25% of the way through a season not a single outcome has been determined. I'm not saying don't be over the moon with the wins style of play and the ability to laugh at the S6 massive. Just acknowledge reality

I think Wolves are nailed on for one of the spots, but the others are on offer as far as I'm concerned.

They’re all on offer. Football doesn’t allow ‘nailed on’, certainly not in this league. No Titans. No Fear.

The root of this thread is the ability to dream. Isn't that what keeps us going? Isn't it the thought that we can not only compete with established Championship clubs, but that we can beat them well, especially those whose supposed superiority was meant to put us back in our box? It's this that feeds our dreams, and after so long when we've had to accept the mediocre, the ordinary, and the downright dreadful, why shouldn't we embrace what Chris and Alan have created for the supporters?

I get that remaining grounded can allow for what might be around the corner, be it negative or positive, but we owe it to ourselves to enjoy moments like this, after all, we're not here by accident. We're a good side with good players. With a full compliment of fit players we'd give most any team a game, that's how far we've come since Wilder and Knill arrived. Most importantly we have a manager who, together with his assistant manager, is tactically adept and can respond to the way a game is changing. Please don't tell me that I should not respond to this without a smile and the thought that we can go far with this chemistry driving us forward.

One other encouraging thing to mention is that we've had this bit of form while having some injury troubles. I've been worried how we'd cope if we lost players like Billy, or Coutts, for a game or more, but we've already shown that we can mix up the side and still produce. We still aren't firing on all cylinders ourselves.

I'm still not convinced the entire season can go this well. There are teams out there that are starting to find their feet and, while I don't buy into the "momentum" idea, I do put a part of the continuation of our form down to our having not made wholesale changes to the side. We haven't had to gel the side or experiment with the system much because we already had a solid method in place.

On the other hand, even putting results aside for a second, the standard of our play is exceeding expectations again. We aren't fluking wins, we've deserved them. We're working hard and we're playing quality football. Cardiff and 'Boro showed us up a bit at times, and the gap between League One and the Championship is more than evident, but we haven't yet looked out of place in a game. There's been a number of individuals we've faced that I'd love to see in our side and yet not a team that has looked a class above.

I am glad to say that we are still under the radar to some extent with the bookies. Wolves are 5/4 to win the league, while the Blades only two points behind, and having beaten Wolves, can be had at 16/1.

Only inevitibility is that Brooks will be sold in January. Though I'd love to see him stay for a promotion challenge.
He ain't going anywhere as Wilder has stated.Mcabe might get trigger happy but he will really piss Wilder off and if
Wilder thinks he's being undermined he will walk.

Firstly, we are averaging 2 pts per game. Keep that up and we go up

Secondly, we are letting in less goals per game than we did last season, pro-rata

Thirdly, BDTBL is getting it's Mojo back, we won't drop many points at home this season

Fourth, the spine of our club is pure SUFC, no other club in this league can call upon the kind of motivation this carries

The stars are aligning, if we can't believe now then what's the fucking point of it all.

Can't see Wilder walking if Brooks is sold. Saying that, both Brooks and Wilders stock is high atm

The bookies set the odds to follow where the market goes. Wolves spend loads of cash so the betting goes with them.

We have 'pub players' that no-one has heard of so very few outside of S2 will have bet anything on us.

It is what's known as 'value'.

Of course. Should have said " bookies` clients".

I've still got the feeling.
8/1 to win the league now.

If not this season, then next season. For sure.

We're experiencing a truly unique set of circumstances which I never thought possible.

Still got the feeling. Just can't shake it !

Well, the feeling might not be quite as strong, but It's still there for sure. I can see our new signings transforming our fortunes before long.
Play-offs here we come and hang on to your hats.:)

We have lost our key player , but with 4 new good signings , plus Brooks and Evans coming back we look stronger now for a promotion push . So yes it feels right .

Speaking from a Wendy perspective, you booked the play-off final hotel yet Mark? :)

Me, I'm not so sure we'll make the play-offs. We've strengthened, but then so have other clubs

Long way to go

Fingers crossed

Play off final a very big possibility IMO.

Just a shame we're not still in 2nd. I'm sure we would have been if Sordell didn't intervene.

Hotel booked. Waiting for advance cheap rail fares. Will still go if we miss out.

It would be nice to win at Norwich as I don't recall us getting many wins there over the years and also because of the way they behaved at the Lane. I hope they are all fucked after playing Chelsea in midweek.
