It was Express dairies on Broadfield Road and Knowles dairy on Hemsworth Road.

Daley and Bond were at Burnley in 1983-84 season. We lost 2-1 at Turf Moor that season

Cheers Silent I’m getting worse. Remember that John Bond walked the length of the pitch, sauntered more correctly, in a long grey herringbone coat ( or was it leather), a poor mans Malcolm Allison.

Brian Flynn was in the Burnley side, can’t remember who was in ours.

And what a cracking good match that was.

We didn't know what hit us at the start of the game, but ended up nearly getting a point.

Burnley had a pretty star studded side from what I can remember. A team full of players that had played at a higher level, like Willie Donachie, Gerry Gow, Kevin Reeves, Billy Hamilton, Tommy Hutchison. Can't remember if all of those played against us. But their wage bill must have been colossal by the standards of the time. I thought they were promotion certainties, however they seemed to fade away, and I think it was probably the cost of that side and it's failure to deliver that caused their much bigger problems a few seasons down the line.

Guy bottom left, looks like the 'gaffer', appears to be wearing a 'phantom of the opera mask', back left is that one of the 'Russell's' from Sparks or a woman? fourth from left back row looks like Peter Sutcliffe, standing next to another woman (or someone from the 19th century LGBTG community) and the guy at the right hand end of the front row, clearly nesh, wearing one of his 'grandma knitted' jumpers, seated next to an extra from Pirates of the Caribbean.

Brings back many happy memories as my blades Dad used to work on the GPO counter at Fitzallan Square.
Parcels on the right hand side
Once went up to the telephone switchboard room with many girls answering calls and redirecting calls by plugging in.
In those far off times one could not phone anywhere without asking for the operator.
No phones at home or extremely limited.
We had our very first phone at home in Grimsby which was a party line with next door, remember these.1969.
Probably would not have had a phone if had not been in the house we bought.
Remember the post office message boys on BSA Bantam motor bikes delivering telegrams.

How far technology has brought us.

And all of them sporting a traditional Sheffield, "Hey up! Tha what? Arr much is it?" look. Quite superb. The essence of being a Sheffielder captured in one click of an old camera.

You're right, both are Crookesmoor (Barber and Commonside)

Walkley starts back up the dip from the Springvale...there's a sign. Both Barber Road and Commonside are S10 too, Walkley is S6 (boo).

I think that was taken sometime in the mid 60s. If you have a look around there are a few pics of the old building, including some of that wonderful spiral staircase.

I still find this one amazing, circa 1920 -30. I wonder how much of this old stuff was bombed by the Luftwaffe and how much was simply demolished. More of the latter probably, certainly the old Electro works and the clearing to make way for Arundel gate or the infamous egg boxes etc etc

Shame, our City Centre could have had loads more character than it does now.
