Of course he was sacked.

KM is on public record as saying he wishes he’d sacked OBN before the Premiership Season. Quite right too. Just like his alter ego and lookalike Alan Partridge, he never got a second season.

“Me, I like the Championship me.” Of course you do Neil because you, you were out of your fucking depth in the Premier League, you.

You've provided it only because I prompted you.
You said it would prove he was sacked. It doesn't.

You're the only one who thinks he was. Not backed up by any evidence.

It’s a distinction without a difference, Pete. He was going, one way or another, and the choice wasn’t his.

Yup. I had it to hand. I was waiting for your 'prompt'.

Nowhere in there does he say his intent was to resign. Moreover, after the whole 'joint press conference' and KMs actions after, its more telling that Warnock hasn't followed the line of recent managers who have been 'let go' or 'left through mutual agreement'. Clough, for example? Sacked, or resigned? Blackwell? Wilson? Adkins?

So, 'sacked' then?

pommpey

In effect, yes. It was KM’s decision. Call it what you will. I haven’t read, and won’t be reading, his ghost written book and wouldn’t accept anything he said without corroboration, anyway.

I still don't get the hate and bile, even listening to people's reasons for it.

Me neither. Warnock was a complex, frustrating manager at times. He was a gobshite, but you had no doubt where his heart was. Compare with Adkins or Weir.

Warnock gave the club some incredible moments, much the same as Wilder is doing right now. Between Warnock and Wilder there has been a huge descent. We should look back from this hghpoint to that highpoint with some sort of fond reflection. As a comparison, Heath and Robson were the managers either side of Warnock.

Left after his contract had ended.

...conspicuously without any invitation to renew, Bert.

pommpey, I agree in part about Warnock’s achievements but there were counterbalancing low points and his teams were nowhere near as consistently good as we are under Tufty. Let’s not forget OBN has multiple relegations on his CV as well as promotions.

Still not a sacking.

What a fine sunny day it is here in Sheffield. Who cares about Warnock these days anyway?

Left after his contract had ended.

What does Bert think is the best face-saving strategy given the circumstances?

1. If United are relegated
2. No contract has been discussed

Would Bert think Warnock would just walk quietly away from that? Or, by agreement, transmit that he was resigning and it was all amicable (which clearly, it wasn't)?

I'm not comparing with Wilder. This period is another matter (and superb, for the record)

And I'm not really bothered about what he'd done, or has done since with other clubs, which is pretty unimpressive stuff in itself.

One of Warnock's highpoints was getting us into the PL. No one has done that since Bassett, and yet to do it since.

Bert has just taken his seat. He has no time to respond.

Whilst you're waiting here's a view you'll never have.

Oh, that hurts so bad. Truly it does.

Nice of Bert to stay on topic though and not to veer off onto his well, worn, boring, 'you don't go to any games' schtick. Whenever he's a bit stuck, Bert predictably moves it onto that subject with the same outcome:

As said (quite a few times) pommpey will happily have that view if Bert will put his money where his mouth is and pay pommpey's transport and hotel fees to see the match. The offer still stands, but Bert won't respond. As such, pommpey hopes Bert enjoys his BLUT view.

Give the guy some credit. Cardiff are top of the league and Colin is going for a record 8 promotions so i think the press will have asked for the interview not him. All you Warnock haters need to think about the seasons before and after his tenure. As for you Tyler you are an angry little man aren,t you, seek treatment before it eats you away son .
Yep he's a bit of a twat and I don't mean Colin.

Bert had better be careful. Pommpey might get his mate to slap him in the back on the head if he's not careful.

Haters gonna hate - the sad twats! Warnock gave us the greatest days in recent memory. Course Wilder's on course to eclipse those but Sir Neil will always be up there - above Bassett and just below Lord Wilder.

There are far bigger self publicists and odious cunts on here than Warnock, I can tell you.

He's above Bassett if you place no value on getting a team promoted to the top flight in your first full season in the second tier (as opposed to your sixth) and place no value on the ability to keep your team in the top flight once you get there.

He's above Bassett because he never continually referred to us as 'Sheffield' on national TV.

So player's contracts are the same as managers?

pommpey

A contracts a contract. If it runs out it runs out c

I'm amazed he hasn't gone to a tribunal over his "sacking".

I've had a great day, so I'm going to do you a favour and leave this one here.

You said you'd either provide evidence from his book that he was sacked, or you'd hold your hands up and admit you were wrong.

Bearing in mind, I didn't need the book to say he wasn't sacked as all the other evidence supports what I've said (including Warnock's words), you claimed it said something it didn't.

You've not been able to provide said evidence (because it doesn't exist) and you've not had the strength of character to hold your hands up and admit you were wrong either. Bit of a shame.

Anyway, I'm going to continue to enjoy another great Saturday, have a good night.

And I'll overlook your patronising sophistry which similarly fails to provide anything tangible beyond what you believe from newspaper articles and anecdotes put forward very much in the moment, over an official, autobiography. They are Warnock's words, not mine, and more an official account than that agreed by NW and KM post Wigan, where the confusion you seem to suffer from exists. I could have put up that in the book it said 'I didn't resign and was sacked'. You wouldn't have believed it because you want to believe what was in the papers. I don't really care. You asked if I had the book and I have provided the information. Take it or leave it.

You don't owe me any favours, so I'll pass on any offered. The evidence is there. You just choose not to go with it. It's not based on those words; it's based on your propensity to shove your weight around on here and get away with it. So I'm far from holding my hands up to anything you think you have the strength of character to make me do. We disagree. Live with it.

Sigh, ok Pommpey...
It was too much to expect you to be a man of your word if you couldn't provide the proof you claim was in the book (that wasn't).
Shame.

It isn't a shame. I'm not going to go over it again Pete. If you choose not to see what is in the account, I can't help you any more.

I kept my word, re-bought the book and transcribed it. After this, there's nowt more to be said.

Kept your word.
Course you did, fella, keep believing that.
Takes character to admit when you're wrong.
Shame.
