Would you move to the Upper Tier for an upcoming home game?

It's an idea I'd be very receptive to.

On the continent you often get both sides of the ground trying to be louder than the other. PSG and Marseille have that sort of set up, with particular supporters groups on one stand or the other.
The cumulative effect of course is that you get a very vocal degree of support for the team.

Been up there all season Ricky,as i'm a pay on the day merchant, and struggle getting to midweek games...Probably would be cheaper to get a season ticket if i worked it all out.
I'll be up there again Saturday anyway...I thought about moving elsewhere after Norwich ruined my Lane upper winning streak, but sticking with it for now...great view, but quiet and although it doesn't bother me personally, you can't see away fans beneath you on the lower tier...you can hear them though, along with G and H.

I feel I should clarify some things before this goes any further. It's important that everybody responding here is clear about what we want to do, and understands a few things.

  • The reason to move onto the Upper Tier is to contribute to improving the atmosphere/vocal support. You should be happy to go along with everything that goes with this.
  • We'd aim to get tickets and gather from the back row downwards, ideally central.
  • The long term and key goal is establishing a permanent focal point for vocal home support.
  • Cuntish behaviour is an absolute no-no. Inside or outside the ground. SYP need no excuse to impose themselves. If even a small number misbehaved, long term we'd be hopeless.
  • COMMITMENT. Without this from everybody then it won't work.
Give it to away fans then we might get more tickets for our away games and kill the bloody loyalty points thread.

I have booked tickets for the blut for the Hull City game. Hope its as good as everyone says.
It is, but it's also quite steep, not so great for kiddies and wrinklies. Also not certain of this, but food and drink options may be limited.

Question for anyone who's been on the BLUT recently.

Are the back few rows directly behind the goal restricted in any way? Are you free to go there?

Because on the online ticket sales system they're not showing up as available for some reason...

Anyone know why?

As others have already said, the views up there are the best in the ground. God know's why we let away fans have it for so long.

Not noticed that before, I've seen plenty of people stood at the back of the BLUT during games, Buy a ticket elsewhere and after 10 mins of kick off no-one is sat there, move.

I've not noticed any stewards blocking the area off or anything.

Just wonder why they're not on sale?

We could get tickets anywhere and go up there if it's empty but it would be better if we actually got our tickets for those seats, mainly for future organisation purposes.

So it would be helpful if they were on sale there.

Usually available, looks like they are sold...front rows are always netted off.

The BLUT will always be special to me, it's where I sat for my first ever match back in the mid 80s.

It might not be the most atmospheric, but I recall a comment on here once along the lines of there being something about the rake and the height that enables you to see the game pan out in a way that other areas don't, and that rang true for me. Even though you're looking down the pitch from the narrow end of the rectangle, it looms wide.

The height relative to the short distance 'back' conversely gives the optical illusion that the pitch is shorter than it is, meaning a great view of both goals.

And the steep rake not only means no obstruction but also adds just a touch of acrophobia to proceedings, not as to make you nervous but a little edge to the emotion.

Taking both my lads on Sat. It will be the 1st match for my youngest. My old man tagging along as well, in the stand where he took me as a kid when it all started for me. Getting giddy already. I fucking love Bramall Lane.

My dad took me on the BLUT for my first ever match. I'll never forget walking up the stairs to see the entire ground opening out before my eyes. At that moment I may as well have been looking out over the Nou Camp.
There's a little bit of that feeling whenever I enter the ground now. It never leaves you.

I am up there with my better half for the Ipswich game- first time on the BLUT for us

i have a ST on H Block but wouldn't mind having a look up there, pal of mine says the views the cats whiskers

Last time I was at the lane was.................... a very long time ago on the kop while it was still standing only. Yes I am that old ! The talk of the 7 - 0 Ipswich game brought back memories ,I was there with my g/f who supported the other lot, until that game then she saw the light and I married her :) . Anyway, I digress. Am coming over to the UK and will be going to the Reading game with a long time buddy and I believe I will be sampling the BLUT for the first time.

It will be an interesting comparison with the BC Place and the Whitecaps who are top of the western standings in MLS.

I wish we had a SSUT planned instead of a proposed extension to the already antiquated kop stand.

Ricky. I'd be up for giving it a try. I reckon if BLUT could encourage/join in with South stand G&H they could make some noise.

I'm currently on the kop for the atmosphere, not the view.

If its going to happen keep bumping this please as I'm lazy and have a shit memory. :)

Agree about the South Stand. They'd join in with a lot of the chants started in the BLUT. This is why that if anything other than central, we should be positioned more towards the right/South Stand side. It might even be better to be more towards that side. It's something we'll consider if it gets to that point.

I was in BUT for the Wolves game. Had a row almost to myself. Enjoyed it immensely cos I'm a miserable twat and nobody pulled me up for moaning or swearing.

In all seriousness though, if there is a better view in any other ground it must be a gud un.

You had a row with yersen Robby? I know you’re getting old but.,,;)

Good view, but sat listening to the away fans all game. No thanks
You do realise we are playing Ipswich on Saturday, hardly the most vociferous of fans.

As a side point, why is the Ipswich game Cat A and Reading Cat B? I'd personally say they're on a par in terms of attractiveness...maybe even more so for Reading, given they reached the play-offs last year and we have a bit of 'history' competing at the top of the league 10 years ago.

At least 94 so far. I want to see it get towards 150.

A thorough investigation has revealed that the reason for the unavailability of the back 5 rows on the BLUT is television - so more fans are in view of the cameras! It certainly doesn't appear that there's any other reason. There's also no indication there'd be any problem sitting in those seats - they won't be netted off or anything, they're just not being sold.

That means the club could probably easily make them available for sale, which would be most ideal for us.

It also means we could get tickets anywhere in the BLUT and meet in that section.

As of now the best option might be to get tickets in the block just right of centre, row W downwards, seats 104 to 125. This means we'd have our tickets there, and also the empty central block to the left available to move into.
