And yet a picture paints a thousand words.

There's a reason why my procedures contain "cartoons" and if you can't see the reason why, then that shows as big a weakness as you perceive to see.

Sorry Pierre I've not noticed your cartoons.

As I say I'd love to see examples.

Here are but a small selection of mine:

Same goes for Paul Coutts. If he can get fully match fit he'll be our best CM.

2 June 2015

It's refreshing to see so many of you take a sensible view of Paul Coutts, who was first pick in central midfield for three good Championship clubs over a number of years.

It's all about the injury. If he can get fully (match) fit we've probably got the best CM in this league on our hands. It's a big if though. I hope he comes through. It will be to the significant advantage of our club if he does.

5 June 2015

The fact is, as I consistently maintained last season amidst the usual knee-jerking, Paul Coutts is a very good footballer.

27 September 2015

Have another look at Paul Coutts though. He's a very good footballer.

21 May 2016 [when Tufty announced the transfer list.].

There are many, many more.

I’m not writing the kid off, just offering an honest assessment of what I’ve seen from him so far. Mobility looks a problem. The long balls can be great if they come off but your percentages have to be good. His haven’t been particularly good so far. But as you say, he’s young and settling in at the club so let’s hope he settles down and improves. I’ve actually been impressed with him when I’ve seen him play for other clubs so hope so see that coming through here.

He was very good against Forest. People didn’t notice because we lost. Scoreboard journalism, I think it’s called. We’ve had it on here for years. We lose; we’re shite.

Farewell and adieu, you fair Spanish ladies.....

They, Sit and Pin, were not very vocal on Coutts until Wilder arrived in actual fact. As it happens I was.

Dear oh dear. Are you honestly trying to say that Sitwell didn't defend Coutts and highlight his good footballing qualities before Wilder became our manager?!

You are very wrong on this one.

Below are just a few pre Wilder Sitwell posts. I really didn't have to try very hard to find them, and there are many more.

Pinchy also fought his corner, but I see you have eaten a bit of humble pie on that one.

"and have you seen his last 2 games where he has been about the best player we have had ? On a day when every player has played like a cunt ,do you not think its slightly unfair to single out Coutts in the first defeat he has been involved in ,when many others have presided over shit displays all season ? To say he is simply shite is a ridiculous statement. "

"Be fair to him though ,he is constantly on the look out demanding the ball ,great link up player. "

#8 sitwell, Oct 20, 2015

"Do you go ,if so the question 'what does he do' is ridiculous. Without him moving the ball we would be and have been a very static slow team. "

"You need a player to keep the ball moving ,to start attacks, to link defence and attack ,someone who can control the ball and keep possession ,this is vital in a team who attack unless you go route one. People who just simply say no goals ,no assists don't understand the game ,you need players to play the way Adkins wants us to play. Baxter slowed us down and played percentage passes ,losing possession regularly and dangerously ( a hugely over rated footballer) If you take Coutts out of the side we lose any fluidity and outlets for the defenders to play the ball to. Have a look who Baptiste and Edgar always look for to either get the ball back to take a player out or move the ball on to the wide man or up front. What we don't get out of him is someone who can tackle and defend but that player would be beyond our reach in the 3rd division."

"You are so wrong ,Baxter never gets his head up , he plays hopeful passes which is why so many go astray ,he never runs with the ball ,he gets caught in possession in other words a liability. He will never play at a decent level because of his ball retention and quite simply he is massively over rated. If you want to resort to stats and facts ,which I think are always misleading btw ,the one that does matter is winning. Compare Coutts win record this season with Baxters ,maybe that will open your eyes. Coutts is a far far better footballer than Baxter. "

"Agree about the full backs but Coutts was the only player actually forcing attacks on Burton ,put him in central midfield with a decent partner (or 2) you will see a good player ,he would have a much bigger effect on a game ,than Basham ,Reed or Baxter."

#106 sitwell, Oct 4, 2015

"He frustrates me when he doesn't go flying into challenges but Montgomery did when he couldn't make a 10 yard pass and Sharp when he doesn't beat 6'6 centre halves in the air
Anyway its better to concentrate on what a player can do and feed their strengths ,its up to the manager to assemble these parts and form a working unit with all the right cogs in the right place. I don't want to get into another Adkins rant so I will leave that. Coutts is good at getting the ball down ,getting his head up ,driving with the ball ,keeping possession and giving good quick balls in tight situations ,he is also a very good dead ball player ,but for some reason doesn't get a look in except for corners. If we get the right balance he could be a massive asset especially linking with Brayford and Sharp which has shown great promise until some genius decided to change the tactics and team around."

Thanks for that, it appears I was wrong. Thank you for taking the time and effort. Apologies to Sitwell and Pinchy - it must have been in the period of my sabbatical:p:p I must say that the support and encouragement of individual players matters, especially in the bad times pre-Wilder. I didnt recall any such voices and it was a bad time for Coutts.

Dunno the back 3 can't be far behind him for touches ........unfortunately.

He was very good against Forest. People didn’t notice because we lost. Scoreboard journalism, I think it’s called. We’ve had it on here for years. We lose; we’re shite.

I was at Forest but admittedly, I was about 2-3 rows from the front which meant my perspective of the pitch was dogshit. Real struggle to make out what was going on at the other end of the pitch. I would however like to think I don’t engage in “scoreboard journalism”. And if I did, wouldn’t I have been swayed by the fact he scored our only goal?

Personally, I didn’t think he was “very good”. I thought he was OK. He got a goal which is nice but in terms of general play, whilst this isn’t really his fault, I thought it was all just a bit congested with him, Fleck and Coutts in there and not enough in the final third. I still didn’t think he looked mobile enough but moved the ball on nicely at times. As I say, I hope we’ll see the best of him if he plays Coutts’ role against Ipswich. My general perception was that he was tidy enough but didn’t influence the game enough. There was a lot of emphasis on our midfield 3 to get on the ball and take the game to the opposition and support Duffy and Donaldson and I just don’t think that happened enough. I hope we get back to Duffy playing behind a front 2 on Saturday as it allows us to set up camp higher up the pitch.
