Swiss, I respect your opinion on here, but I have to ask...if that is the case, why have we signed a player that can't play/shouldn't be playing more than a third of a match? In my opinion he's looked fucking awful every time he's come on the pitch for us.
Because when he signed the old injury (if thats indeed what it was) won't have been apparent. I said during the summer that i didn't expect him to be fully fit until october. We have a very good medical team at United and they work very closely with the fitness and sports scientists. Wilder, Knill, the medical and fitness side staff will all have looked at each signing in detail and worked out what is needed to get them right. I don't think ched was ever going to be ready until october, this is a set back.

But for me, we saw today the glimpses of the old ched, there was a lot more sharpness from him so his actual match fitness is getting there. I would guess though that he will struggle to be anywhere near fit next week unless he rests up all week

He should be the one on the end of them though and nearly every quality ball we put on he was nowhere near

He was pretty much upfront on his own and nobody was putting them sort of balls what he was in the box for him to get on the end of.

He looks a shadow of the player we had in the championship previously which obviously doesn't bode well
The player we had in the Championship last time was a very poor player in a very poor side. it was only when he started playing facing goal that we saw anything from him and that player got 35 goals in the league below.

I saw the game on iFollow today so maybe had a different view, but he looked a lot better and sharper than in previous games.

Fair comment. I just think we could have done better with the wages that we're paying him...surely we could have got a player that is ready to play 90 mins?

I may be wrong, but to me it feels like we signed him for sentimental, not football reasons.

There were plenty of balls in the box for him to try to attack rather than let them clear

Wish I could share the same view I really do

I think for the money (i would guess) that we paid, we would not have done better with the wages. However when we signed him we got in very early

No, not true. We signed a player on the last day, doesn't mean thats how long we waited

It was evident we needed more than Donaldson, though.

Lavery isn't quite good enough for Championship, yet. Clarke and Sharp are too similar.. Ched unfit, so why only sign one? Why not try to loan a young prem striker until Jan to cover Cheds unfitness then re-assess?

It was the right decision to play Evans rather than the youngsters with no experience. Doesn't take a "brainbox" to work that out...
When you have 5 strikers out playing a young lad isn't a bad shout.

Can't fault Evans, on three occasions he put good balls into the box with absolutely nobody on the end of them.

Shame we didn't have Billy Sharp to do that job, even though "he doesn't do anything" according to the wise forum sages.

It's his job to be in the box

You could say the same about the midfield, we signed a number of players and its well documented that we also tried to sign Sinclair and Cole. I don't question Wilders judgement on strikers on a day when we have had Sharp, Clarke, Hanson, Lavery, Donaldson all injured. Its quite unique.

I am not too disappointed with the strike force from today, I think we also learnt alot. Yeah there are negatives and we had a lot of chances, just perhaps not clean cut. First half we tried to walk it in, Second half there seemed to be a resignation that it wasn't our day, but i won't question the team spirit in this side.

Brooks and Ched need time, they were not on each others wave length and in fairness Brooks is probably not an orthodox central striker, but look at the way he's developing as a player and person. Norwich defender tried to go through him and the ball near the end, no shirking from Brooks. As the Norwich player lay against the boards, Brooks stood over him. He's not going to be bullied.

Many of you on here can sit here all night after a defeat like that and pick the errors out, but the fact is, like i've said before, judge the squad, players and club after 10, 20, 30 or 46 games. Looking after 8 games we're 6th.

Unfit or not he was by a distance the worst player on the pitch looked like a none league player.

Pray to any God you support thar Donaldson makes it next week.
I thought Freeman, Stevens and Duffy were far worse than Evans today

I take it you can read?.....I said January......don't let your Ched tinted spectacles get in the way next time.....we should NEVER have signed him.

Fair enough, but regardless of when you pay him off, you're still paying for him for a full season without having the option of using him.

I think was just knee-jerk reaction from our first loss of the season, in his first start.

And no, I don't have any "ched tinted spectacles", I'm just not moronic enough to think paying him all his contract and releasing him is a good idea.

are we expecting Ched to be half fit for exactly?

Genuine question.
It's almost like signing a player who played 20 games last year after 4 years out was not the best idea.

Surely we must have known about his injury when he signed!

Positives: he was free.

Negatives: he's shit.

No pussyfooting around it. He's simply not very good.
