No sentimental wish you well bollocks from me, we all would have loved £5k a week for 3 years for turning up for work 10% of the time,.
Indeed, I am really struggling to think of a more bizarre ridiculously incompetent piece of recruitment for many a long year. His whole career before Clough signed him had already been an injury crash!
A complete waste of around a million quid, an amazing amount of money for a League one budget.
Fuck off Nigel Clough! Fuck off the spineless board cunts who let him trash the club
.
Part of successful management is not only recruitmen;t but kicking out the dead wood is probably just as difficult, whilst keeping everyone else happy..
In this respect Chris Wilder has achieved an astonishing transformation, most of us though the depth of the problems would take several more transfer windows to sort out.
CW you are an utter legend.
Well done for binning more dross.
An excellent job CW.
Not his fault he was injury prone was it, if it it was your son, brother, mate I bet you would have a different view, wish the lad good luck, have a bit of respect.

Insurance cover must have expired

James Wallace..................JAMES WALLACE
Healthcare Professional....NIGEL ADKINS
Jobcentre Manager...........DAVIE BLADE

Sorry JD
Satire reaches a new low.
I don't think Ken Loach told the story of footballer on £5k a week for 3 years not able to ever work again and selling off his wordy possessions and went to food banks.
A fucking disgraceful comment to the folks who're actually in dire poverty who KL portrayed,
half a million children had meals from food banks in this country last year, no time for satire in my world.

FFS he is a professional footballer set up for life

If I had a record of turning up for work for one day in ten and someone gave me £750,000 for it
I would think i was the luckiest cunt on the planet.
Meanwhile back on planet working class earth, please excuse me from the different view bollocks.

Contract cancelled by mutual consent.

Apologies if I'm stating the obvious, but we all know that likely means "paid out in full" don't we? Maybe a slight discount for accelerated receipt of a lump sum, but I'd be surprised if this has saved the club any real money. Given the terms of the contract he got in the first place, I'd imagine James Wallace has a pretty good agent, so you'd think he'd get everything that was coming to him - I don't see this as him as having done United any favours.

UTB, as always.

Maybe this move is to do with FFP and paying him up comes out of a different pot to what we pay players for monthly (pure guess work on my behalf).

maybe a move to allow us to take on the O'Shea contract, who knows :)

Footballers get payed well .doesnt it lead to a lot of barbed comments .there are players on 40 times what Wallace got sat on recaro seats week in week out . Yes us mere mortals would love 5k a week but in terms of footballers its not worthy of some of the bile on here

That's another couple of grand off the wage bill, hopefully we can get in a player that isn't made of glass to fill his spot.

Ah, once again the magic money tree coughs up the lump sum required to pay up the contract. Magically we now have "free' money to spend on a new player.

The best part of a million quid will have gone on someone who played a few minutes. On another thread people will still ask "where has all the money gone ".

I don't wish him ill but have to accept hes cost us a lot of moey for nowt back in return.

Once again, running over that family of black cats has come back to haunt us.

It's not remotely a comment on people in dire poverty but on your self proclaimed lack of sentiment.

Well paid he might have been, but anyone who's been prevented from working for signifant time due to illness and/or injury will know the effect that can have. A person's wellbeing isn't purely a factor of their income.

So do I have sympathy for the bloke's financial position? No. Do I think he deserves a modicum of sympathy and concern for a three year layoff and the slow crushing of a genuine talent? Yes.

Incidentally, what I've said about the film is up there to be read elsewhere on the board.

I think we had a few players that were not going anywhere unless we paid off their contract or let it run out. Higdon released last January and Wallace this January.

We are lucky Freeman and Coutts knuckled down or they would have been two more players we would have struggled to offload.

What's the point of paying him up in full? We might as well have kept him and continued to loan him to Tranmere.

If I was his advisor, I'd just turn that question around - why agree to his contract being cancelled early without it being paid up in full? Otherwise, he could just spend the remaining months in the gym at Tranmere, and collect his X grand a week from United.

But you're right, I'm speculating. Maybe he's just sick of the whole thing, and he'd take a discounted payment to go on holiday for the next six months. Your guess is as good as mine.

I'd suggest that if he took, for example, three quarters of what he's owed he'd get a decent pay out and be free to negotiate a new contract with another club, maybe Tranmere, maybe for a year and a half.

Hi all,

Yes you guessed it, played a few games last season, got injured with a 4 week timeframe, did not appear at preseason and now needs another operation on his knee

Horrible for him but I am afraid it looks game over for him

Goodness me, someone delete this thread. Regurgitating shit.

Probably paid 60-75% of his contract worth, pretty standard if you have a clue about contracts in football.

Confirmed our end, out for another 5 months minimum for another op on his knee

Feel sorry for him but cannot believe we signed him, was always going to happen

First Higdon, then Wallace, any other duds you want to give us ;)

What was Higgo like for you? I've seen cement drying that's quicker than the Higgosaurus.

Feel sorry for him but surely it's getting to the point where he's got to give it up. Players in the past (Lesley King) had to give the game up due to re occouring knee problems as they can have a big impact on your health later on.
