New view of Lane re-development

I like the 'Beautiful Down Town Bramall Lane' writing on the south stand.

Would love this to go ahead. Would make The Lane one of the best grounds in the UK.

Where has this beautiful image come from by the way? I'd love them to do it. I get that we don't need it right now, but speculate to accumulate and all that. Besides, McCabe would be funding it just like he did the two corners without it affecting the clubs player budgets.

I was thinking the other day about how we would go-about any major redevelopment, if we ever made it back to the premier league. (Big if!)

I wonder about McCabe's plans for the olympic legacy stadium and if McCabe had ever considered that we could move there temporally in the event of a major redevelopment? Not heard anything on attendance size other than it will cater for rugby and womens football. Anybody else heard anything regarding its capacity?

Thoughts?

Don't mean to sound like Mr. Meldrew, but what a load of old shit.

Looks beautiful, but is it necessary? By all means crack on with making the Kop look like that, but that extension plus another tier on the South Stand? We'd never fill it.

Pig!

Original poster saying this is a new view. With the numbers of new developments like the boundary edge thing its clearly from somewhere else? So where?

Personally, I don't like it. Too lop sided for me. It looks about as daft as St James's park. I like my grounds with a bit of symmetry about them.
We don't need a vastly bigger ground, just a better one.
Better rake, no pillars and no restricted views etc.
Do you like prawn sandwiches ?

See that shop and flats on the corner of cherry street is on that? We just got planning permission for that but not sure when works starting.

Would love to see the whole development take place. Those who say we wouldn't fill it or short sighted.

A few years ago 17000 attendance at the Lane would have been considered good. Now we think that would be a poor attendance in League One.

Our fan base as grown. Probably somewhere in the region of 8000 who actually go to matches on a regular basis just in the last 10-15 years.

We all know 32000 wasn't big enough in 2007. We should be looking at 36000 capacity as a bare minimum if we have ambitions of being a top tier mainstay.

That won't be big enough on some occasions to begin with but we don't want to be like some other clubs with grounds far too big for them such as those at S6.

Once established in the top flight go ahead with the South Stand extension. But the kop extension is the priority. You can argue all you like about return on investment and the kop not generating enough revenue.

But the bigger picture says you need to build your core fan base, and you start by developing the cheaper stands to build the numbers who then move onto more expensive seats in the more expensive stands as they get older and more affluent.

It'll only be small. I seem to recall less than 6k. No incentive to expand either, hence the reason DVS went in the first place...too big.

We don't need a better rake now we've got a Desso.

I was lucky enough to go to the States last summer and they completely embarrass the UK in regards to re-investing revenue into the stadium infrastructure. Some of the stadiums (and not just the big'uns) were so swish and it was a genuine pleasure being in the concourses having a drink before a game. It's crazy that Everton can get £100m plus for Lukaku and yet still play football in a shed that is in desperate need of a lick of paint. We should 100% take the initiative to build a beautiful home which will inspire the next generations of fans and encourage more people to make a day of saturday fixture and spend more money on drinks and food etc. I'm sure longer term the renovations will pay themselves back and for young people growing up in the area it will sway them to chose supporting us over our local rivals. Can't see it ever happening but if you reading this McCabe wouldn't you want to leave some kind of legacy before you leave?!

Its ambitious - very ambitious and for us to build something similar to that we would have to be touching Champions League status - so I cannot see this happening to be honest.

The Kop needs doing IF and When we go up to the Prem - no need otherwise. Our current capacity is plenty for now but in the future.... who knows?

Yeah but have you seen how they kill towns by blackmailing them into having the soccer franchise?

Needs more parking spaces

Maybe number 3 is a multi storey car park?

In the PL our ground wasn't big enough, we virtually sold out half of our games.
Expanding the Kop upping the capacity to 36.5K should be fine for most situations.
The concourse area on the Kop is so 1980's and urgently need bringing up to date.
Also remove the pillars and many people gain a better view
