2 loans both from top four clubs , they will not have come cheap , lets hope for a similar impact that EEL made , i am already working on a CCV song for Christmas , oh CCV oh CCV did not want to play at Wemberlee so he came to the Blades...................................................................................................................working on it .

I think this is a great signing, spurs have some fantastic young players, just look at the players that have been blooded last few years by pochiettino from the academy walker-peters, winks, rose & kane (technically alli & walker even though they came from MK & us) & also it helps as we all knew we needed defensive reinforcements

Pochietino didnt blood Kyle Walker he was already first choice RB when the manager arrived at Spurs

To be fair, I think if I was having to deputise for a steadfast player in, possibly, Europe's best defensive back line, I'd probably be a bit nervous, big boots to fill!!
On the other hand, he's got something to prove here, and he is deemed good enough to deputise in the role for a top 6 premier league club.
I say give him a chance, could do really well and maybe the war chest next year can keep him here?

Pah! I wouldn't be nervous in that situation. I'd lap it up mate. I'd run out there onto the pitch and the crowd would suddenly go silent whilst they pondered who the fuck I was. Then, within minutes, they'd start chanting for me...like..."Who ate all the pies?" and "You fat bastard". I can still do a "Currie shuffle" btw - even now, after all these years of being out of the game. Problem is I don't usually take the ball with me, but it's still great entertainment for the crowd as they try and work out whether I run like that because of ricketts, polio or incontinence.

I don't know about this lad, never seen him play but I wonder if a certain Mr Brooks might soon be on his way to Tottenham. Then loaned back to us, just like Walker. I'm not in the know, it's just a feeling.

No, he's already going to Chelsea, it was part of the Blackman deal.

I think it is the perfect signing just to add some cover at centre back for the season.

If he does well then Spurs will take him back, If he is poor then we don't commit to keeping him longer than a season. I think we should all judge the lad on what we see rather than a couple of games for Spurs when at such a young age a kid can make a mistake. Even experienced players make mistakes. Great move for Vickers and us.

What i think you will see is a few loan signings coming in to add to the current squad to add to the numbers and add much needed cover while still leaving a pathway for our own young players to have a chance to progress over the next 1 or 2 seasons. As long as our young players are good enough.

If we get Leonard and Coady then doors are shut for midfielders I'm afraid.

The queue already has Lundstram, Carruthers/Duffy, Thomas, Lafferty, Baldock, Brooks. Add Leonard and Coady and then add the current front of the queuers Coutts, Fleck, Freeman to the mix and it gets a bit strange when compared to the shortages up front and the back.

The reason for the sudden influx of double barreled surnames is actually down to kids growing up in single parent households usually without a father, not because they're middle class.
Can you explain how you think this works? Outside the minds of the Daily Express and Conservative politicians?

Such prejudice. My wife like many women kept her own surname. Our son has both our surnames. It is the 21st century after all.

It's just selfish, really. Think of all the extra time others have to spend writing, saying and reading these double barrel names.

What happens when these kids with double barrel surnames grow up and marry others with double barrel surnames? Do their kids get quadruple barrel surnames? When would it end?

Geremallaht!

Loan signings have to be right for us this year.

Quality loan signings definitely right for us.

Blackman and Carter-Vickers are high flyers in their age range. Well done Wilder. Well done Mitchell.

The law of averages say that young quality loanee players develop affinities with their adopted clubs and regularly sign for them full time. we are in the Championship now and can attract quality players.

Exactly the right thing to do.

Underwhelmed but he could be good or could be bad. Hopefully the former.

Prejudice? How did you reach that ill informed conclusion?
Are you saying that the majority of young people these days who have double barreled surnames are the result of 21st century type thinking (whatever that is) parents and not divorce?
Also, how do you know that Bert isn't married to someone who has a double barreled surname completely different to his?

Nonsense. Do you really thing youth loans from Premier League clubs cost us a lot of money? We're not loaning top draw youth players.

He is Spurs number 38 , i am sure Spurs will have notified all clubs , that he was available to loan at a price , its not like when Warnock loaned the Millers Quinn for free to help them out , nowadays you know .

No, but it's not like loaning the likes of Snodgrass, Jenkinson or Gallagher. We'll be paying a few k. That's it. We'll not be paying a large amount. We're doing them a favour as much as they're doing us one.

you're joking right.? Yes they will have cost us a lot of money, are you from a different time period or something?

They really are the most amateurish set of no news journo's out there.

Their commentary really grinds my gears, they spend more time rambling on about various non-events during the game, ranging from 'the programme seller on John Street is getting soaked' to 'Accrington are 3-0 up against Forest Green Rovers'. I wish they would just stick to describing what is happening on the field. Countless times we have had the ball on the edge of the box only for the commentary to sidetrack onto how Keith Edwards got lost in the arse-end of nowhere on the way to Millwall on a Tuesday 3 years ago, then next thing we're defending a corner!

Commentary at one away game went as follows:

"The attendance has just flashed up on the scoreboard, it says one-thousand, five-hundred and twenty-six in attendance this afternoon, which must be wrong as there's at least ten times as many in this stadium!!!"

> "No Keith. That's a clock. It's twenty six minutes past three".

Another double-barrelled kid. My working-class sensibilities are offended.

and did your parents have the imagination to give you a middle name? Or was that too non-working class for them too? I ask in seriousness, because most kids of my generation didn't have middle names. It was thought of as "posh" and unnecessary in the society I grew up in.

Somewhere around the early 70's though, things began to change and we had all these American names coming into fashion - probably because folks had heard them on American TV shows which were becoming very popular around the same time. Names like "Wayne" and "Cody" and "Brett" and shite like that. (I nearly added "Kyle" and "Courtney" to that list, but I won't).

It's interesting the trend with names. And it can say a lot about your social class - the one you came from at least. I particularly dislike the "Surname Clan" trend. You know, the one where folks give their kids a Christian name, that isn't really a Christian name at all, but a surname. Like calling someone "Harrison" for their first name. Let's hope the poor kid's surname isn't Harrison as well or someone is going to think he's got an impediment when they ask him his name.

As regards to double barrelled names - my wife had the idea that she would keep hers and adopt mine as well when we got married. Until I pointed out that it made for a rather unfortunate combination which would get us noticed for the wrong reasons. She eventually gave up on that idea and just adopted mine. Then, I bred the bitch and got two sons - so my name lives on while hers crumbles in the dust. :D (Not that I'm sensitive about it).

Just using football manager as an example, some loan players command a fee and some not.

So basically we don't know. However, if there is a fee it won't be much, and as Wilder has already stated, loan players have to fight for a shirt. Which is a good policy.

My wife wanted to keep hers only, which is fine, but she changed her tune when I said the kids would just have mine then. You want a double barrelled kid? Then you can too.

I won. Sort of.

Wilder said yesterday "We are delighted Spurs trust us with his development" - as did Chelsea with Blackman.

Good feeling for the manager.

Hope the clubs don't mind the lads having a few beers on the way home if we lose an away match!!:D:eek: And then about 10 big sessions when we are crowned champions!!

At this exact time I agree but for our young midfielders I can't see Lundstrum, Duffy, Thomas or Lafferty being with us in a couple of years.

Apparently there's a good relationship between us and Spurs. So if this loan works out well it could put us in a great position to get more players on loan from them in the future.
