He's perfect for us and Wilder so if there's any chance he's available I'd expect us to be interested.

This would surely mean we're not signing Lenihan, they're similarly solid and versatile even if their primary positions aren't the same.

Can't see it happening at all though, he's in Wolves' first team and they'd want daft money for him because they're loaded.

And then there's the wages. I'd imagine we'd have to pay him 18k+ p/w.
Don't disagree at all but Kev does like his 'bums on seats' signings and I think Coady could be one. You only have to read the responses on here to see that. He seems a solid pro and a Wilder type of character. Clough played him out of position for a while, and I think that was as much to see how he'd react as a footballing necessity. He didn't moan or complain, he just went out and gave his all. And he knows what we're about.
As you say, the only sticking point would be the cost. Maybe there's a deal to be done?

Again we seem to be signing players in areas where we are strong.

Find it strange after the Lundstram signing that we'd be in for another midfielder as I can't see Fleck and Coutts being dislodged and Coady isn't going to turn up and sit on the bench!

It doesn't matter if we are strong in midfield, if he's available and within budget then get him signed!

He's better than what we currently have, so I don't see why we wouldn't sign him if we could.

Would be a quality signing, however can not see it happening. For one we can't afford him and two, why would wolves want to sell him

If it's true they're after Rhodes, whoever is in charge of transfer policy at Wolves is an eye swivelling lunatic, so they might sell him ;)

Wolves captain and first team regular. 80 games for them in two seasons. In a team after promotion with multi-millions of pounds to throw around. Cost £2.5 million and no doubt on large wages.

So, we would need to:

pay over £2.5 million. Probably 5.
break our wage structure
persuade Wolves to part with the guy they like so much he's their current captain

More chance of Poborsky.

If we have bid, no doubt £500k and a Mars Bar, then I'm very worried. It would smack of what we've done before when we show ambition by trying to sign ridiculous targets. To cover up for the fact we had no money.

But, I don't believe for one second that there's any truth in it.

I always get suspicious when you read things like.........

"....Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder is a big admirer of Coady and sees him as being a key addition to his plans going forward at Bramall Lane....."

Maybe CW had a quick pint with the lad from the web site at The Ranmoor Inn?

[Journo] "Hey Chris, what are your thoughts on Connor Coady?"

[CW] "Funny you should ask that mate, I am a big admirer of his and I see him as being a key addition to my plans going forward at Bramall Lane"

[Journo] "Would you mind if I use that as a quote on my web site, where I tell everyone all about the top targets of leading football club managers?"

[CW] "Be my guest mate"

[Journo] "Nice one!, can I get you another pint Chris?"

[CW] "Yes please mate, why not"

[Journo] "Crisps?"

[CW] "Go on then, roast chicken please, have I ever mentioned Ryan Leonard to you before?........."

Phil Jagielka x 2. Can't believe people think would genuinely sign these players. Captain of a club significantly richer than us, move along.
