My Linfield supporting friend from school lived in Ballycrochan Road. I stayed over at his parents house in Easter 1983. My friend has been living in London since 1984 and until recently he was a Charlton season ticket holder

No flights to and from NI though. There used to be a Belfast flight to the old airport by the parkway. Only flights to Donny are from Dublin.

Jesus, that was short lived, been to Dublin 4 times from Donnie at £1 fly out £26 back, 3 of those times were during a night out at the local!!!!:D

I just thought that being part of the UK they would fly between!??

Depends. However, I usually stay over and fly back on the Sunday. Makes for an expensive weekend but is the only option sometimes.

That right chum same problem
Would be good if we could get a few of us going over

I usually travel with my wee lad or bring a few non blades supporting mates for the weekend. We were over on Saturday and really enjoyed it. If I had known that boro tickets would have made it to general release I would have booked for this weekend as well. It got too expensive now.

I normally fly Dublin to Manchester , straight out of T3 walk 10 mins max , ( unless Manx Blade picks us up, still owe ya a pint for last time .)
to railway station , £28 day return , normally 5 to every hour , 1 hour 10 minutes later back in Sheffield .
So if I get 6.30 flight in Sheffield by 10.30 latest .
Normally get last flight back 10.30 , back in D10 by 12.30 ,a long but wonderful day , once we win .
Try to avoid , when either Manx team play as Ryanair hike the prices big time .
I don't think I'll be going over before Christmas , holiday next month , new Job this week .
Irish Blades have a Facebook page , think there's close to 60 on it .
Flew into east midland airport a few times , not a bad trip , bus right outside airport , dropped off at Derby railway station , not a hard trip to do .

One hour ten minutes later , meet up with Paul , John , Kev , and a few other mates .
In Globe , Roebuck , or a n other pub ,
Stagger down to lane maybe have a quick un , in cricks .
After game , 4 or 5 more while heading to Midland Station , and Sheffield Tap for 6.20 ish train .
Back into Manchester airport ( take direct train ) , pint or two out at airport ,
For supersonic flight back to Dublin , 10.30 flight ( go on it ) the plane is screaming in pain it's going so fast ,
Back home tired and emotional in Dublin 10 by 12.30 .
Easy peasy lemon squeazy .

Match ticket depends £20 up .€30 ish euro
Ale money £100 . €125 ish euro .

Cheers. Couldn't believe it - a large hire car company (Europcar) who has none of the pre booked cars available on a Saturday morning in August! There was a large number of people waiting on the cars. They all seemed happy enough to "return to the terminal for a coffee until the cars were ready". I sat impatiently at the hire car desk and regularly reminded them how much of a rush I was in. They gave me the first car that became available even though I couldn't have been first in the queue. All in it cost me an extra hour and a half - good job I always try to give myself plenty of time. I have had a number of hire car issues over the years but never encountered a situation where there are no cars at all for the pre booked customers. Luckily it didn't distract from a great weekend watching the blades.

One of my mates runs the Sheffield and District Rangers SC (he's also a Blade), and has sorted a few trips to Belfast over the years for NI and Linfield games, which is obviously the reverse trip to what you do! I'm hoping to get over for the Germany game in October and/or in December for laddo's 50th, there's a few of us going over for that.

Great to see blades across the world. There were a few Belfast bound blades in the airport after the Hull game at Wembley. I was on an Edinburgh flight but was chatting to a few from Northern Ireland. Personally I found it was often easier to fly tiaway games. Fortunately I'm now back in the beautiful steel city. But looking at this season; all London games, Bolton, Preston, Derby, Forest, Bristol, Cardiff and all Birmingham clubs would potentially be quicker and easier. Who doesn't love an away day?!
