I get that....but did he get the loan because he was at a premier league side or because he was significantly better than the third choice keeper at a league one side?
I don't know....but after Moore arrived we had Moore...(undoubted first choice), Long, Ramsdale, Eastwood.
Could Ramsdale have done as good a job? Possibly.
My point is....that now we are a league higher teams below will be more inclined to want our players on loan. I see similar with this Ripley. Keepers can only be assessed on performances, and unless they get the chance to play nobody can decide if they are good enough.
By all accounts, Eastwood stepped up and took his chance to show he's pretty good. Are there lots of keepers out there with real ability just waiting for a manager to trust them? Like we did with Long? Ok it was needs must and he didn't really make the grade, but who's to say young Eastwood won't rise to the challenge and thrive.
I see your point, and Eastwood looks promising but we need more cover anyway, at least for now if Moore is going to be out for a while. Ripley sounds a reasonable call for a loan spell to me, depends what else is available that our management team can bring in.
