A toughie. They demolished Derby yesterday but we're finally getting some goals.

Here's the place for all your Reading match chatter.

At least there's a chance of over a few seconds on the championship, given that they love to show Reading!

Reading are our bogey side id take a draw being honest

But we have been pretty tight at the back and should be a good game

Simple............these are the sort of 'pressure games' the Blades must win to gain promotion, especially at BDTBL.

Me, i think there's a lot more to come from the Blades this season.

Agreed, i think this game has a lot to do with where we will finish this season

Fully agree with that

But to be honest these are the sort of games United as a team and fans thrive on. Big crowd and the atmosphere should be excellent. We make the difference on games like this.

They might be our bogey side but I think we will win to be honest as we do well against big teams. Looking forward to it.

Definatly a game we need to get something from.

Reading have always been a thorn in our backside. No matter how well we play we just cant seem to beat them. I would love us to win this one infront of a big crowd at the lane and put an end to Readings good form.

I just hope we can manage to keep the score at 0-0 for more than 17 seconds unlike the last time they paid a visit to us.

If they do that again, I'll see you all in the pub for ten past three :D

As a Reading fan this is one of my key fixtures in the season

a) as your fans and stadium are good
b) we always seem to do well up there

You seem to have got it together and have a decent outfit so to be honest i'd settle for a point - but Wolves who I think are not that great are building a bit of a gap so the 3 points would be handy.

Welcome to the forum :hello:

One of the reasons we hate you is because you always seem to come and nick point off us! We need to get something against you to keep the momentum going though as we've got a difficult run up to Christmas... we've got Charlton and Ipswich away coming up with Wolves both home and away before the year is out.

We've got Killa back in the team thanks to the exploits last Saturday and I should imagine Howard will be back in the side at the expense of Spring. It'll shape up to be quite an open game if we stick to the 4-3-3 but no one other than Beattie seems to be able to score for us :D

How many fans are you expecting to bring up? You've only been given 1000 tickets?

If you need any guidance of where to go for pubs etc, check out out guide to Bramall Lane HERE.

Do us both a favour and beat Wolves twice!

I can see you winning at Charlton - Ipswich away is always a tough one

Yeah we only have 1,000 tickets not sure why so little - I would be surprised if they all didn't go - are away support is usually pretty good

Howard is a great signing I definitely rate him - not too worried about Beattie but saying that he'll probably score now

Our defence is organised and we are scoring for fun but seem to get the shits away from home - although we did beat Wolves 3-nil and Bristol City 4-1 the other day

Thanks for the link - i'm driving up Saturday so I think i'll park near one of the "away" pubs unless you think this is ill advised?

Hopefully we can actually beat Reading at home for the first time in 11 years!

I hope S. Hunt gets stretchered off after about 2 minutes, not wishing injury upon him, he could just get servere cramp;)

I also hope that this time round we don't just hoof the ball straight onto your centre backs foreheads, nor gift you a goal from OUR kick off.

A good game, where the Blades will come into their own!

To be honest, the parking is all a little tight.

If you're pretty early (before midday), there is plenty of on-street parking round the ground but with them being terraced roads, it does tend to get very busy.

Keep an eye on any restrictions too... the parking Hitlers do the rounds on matchdays with their little ticket books.

The landlord at the Devonshire Arms used to offer parking and still does as far as I'm aware, but his pub is probably the furthest away from the Lane. The other away pubs don't offer parking.

Do people not park up at Meadowhall and then jump on the free train to Sheffield (its not free, just the inspectors don't usually check tickets between the two stations)

You have to be careful with Meadowhall, as if they see you simply catching the train they'll clamp you - HOWEVER, use of the Park & Ride there is free, but they won't allow you that excuse unless you're in the specified P&R area

T'old Stretch has been asked about Morgan in his whole "returning to Bramall Lane interview" and he said:

"Morgs is not like that - he's fully committed and goes in for challenges, unfortunately bad things happen now and then, but I'm sure he didn't mean it."

Glad to see Armstrong is enjoying himself, just hope we can make Saturday a slight blip in his Reading career :D

Armstrong has been bloody brilliant for us this season. Not a flair player obviously but he keeps his head down and gets on with the job - which is all you can ask for really. I'm amazed we got him for half a million - in todays stupid money that's a bargain. He is starting to click with Hunty so I can see him improving as the season goes on.

I thought we would really miss the likes of Shorey, Kitson and Sonko but we are a much better side without them.

By the way I'm amazed by the attention Hunty gets - he needs to cut his pikey hair agreed but I don't get the hate thing. The Cech thing was a stupid accident having seen the Morgan elbow a few times I'm not so sure that was. I don't thing he meant to nearly kill the guy but going back to past Reading/Utd games I've never seen a player (Morgan) look so angry on a pitch since Vinny Jones' days.

I believe Colin would call it passion!

As an aside... remember to make your predictions for Saturday's game HERE

Can I get a woop woop top of the league! :easy:

what do you u think of Halford? I think he only started a couple of games for us and was poo b4 we somehow sold him 4 a profit.

He's a steady player and allthough hasn't had many games why he's been brilliant he very rarely puts a foot wrong.

Interesting reading from the Reading Chronicle:

Blades stronger for Warnock's absence

STEVE Coppell believes Sheffield United will benefit from Neil Warnock’s absence this Saturday as Reading attempt to become the first Championship side to win at Bramall Lane this season (3pm ko).

Warnock has been at the centre of some explosive clashes between the clubs in recent years and Royals supporters see the controversial manager as public enemy number one.

But it is Reading who appear to always have the last laugh, winning eight and drawing two of their last 10 matches against their Yorkshire rivals.

Yet this weekend’s mouthwatering fixtures looks wide open as the Blades are one of only three Championships clubs who can boast an unbeaten home record along with the Royals and Swansea City.

Coppell’s men, on the other hand, have already lost four times on the road this season, though their last trip ended in a superb 4-1 victory at Bristol City.

He said: “I haven’t seen much of Sheffield United but they look a very, very good outfit to me. They have some excellent individual players and they’ve got that Yorkshire toughness that makes them mentally very strong.

“I’m told we have done well against them recently but I’ve never known a previous result to guarantee another one. It’s a different season and two different teams.

“We have some battles over the years but in many ways we have mirrored each other in terms of promotion to the Premiership then relegation.

“But In many ways him (Warnock) not being there will help Sheffield United, I really believe that. Sometimes it is very easy to lose concentration on the most important thing, the game itself.”

Warnock’s most infamous bust-up with Reading came in his side’s 3-1 defeat at the Madejski Stadium in January 2007.

Blades’ Keith Gillespie was red carded for punshing Stephen Hunt and Warnock was involved in a touchline scuffle with Royals coach Wally Downes who was found guilty by the Football Association of improper conduct.

Both clubs were fined for failing to control their players, though Warnock escaped any punishment and it appears he as no intention of healing any lingering rifts after putting the boot into Reading’s players, staff and fans in his new autobiography.

Kevin Blackwell has replaced Warnock in the Blades’ hotseat and Coppell stressed: “This is not about individuals or anything that has happened in the past. It can be very easy to lose concentration.

“We put in a very good performance at Bristol City and also against Derby at our place last weekend. We’re capable of doing that.

“But the one big question is whether we can find that consistency? We’ve lost four times in our first 16 matches. That’s a lot to compensate for in a season.”

Meanwhile, Royals left-back Chris Armstrong has jumped to the defence of former Sheffield United team-mate Chris Morgan whose foul on Barnsley’s Iain Hume has dominated this week’s news.

Morgan appeared to elbow Hume in Saturday’s Yorkshire derby leaving the £1 million Leicester signing with a fractured skull and bleeding that required emergency surgery.

Morgan was booked by referee Andy D’Urso and is free to face Royals while Barnsley are considering legal action.

But Armstrong insisted: “Anyone who knows Chris Morgan knows that he is not like that at all.

“He’s full committed and he goes in for challenges. This is football unfortunately, bad things happen now and again. I’m sure he didn’t mean it and hopefully the guy will get better.”

Coppell added: “I don’t really want to comment on the matter. It is between the two clubs involved. All I’m trying to do is win Saturday’s game.”
