I think people need to stop thinking that the bigger the transfer fee the more succss you will have. I have my doubts about Holmes and Leonard but I feel the midfield 3 we have will be tough for them to break into especially as there is also Carruthers.

Exhibit A

Pigs

Lees - Free from Leeds
Lee - Free from Oldham

Signings last season

Almen Abdi Watford £3,000,000
Daniel Pudil Watford £2,000,000
David Jones Burnley £2,600,000
Adam Reach Middlesbrough £5,000,000
Jordan Rhodes Middlesbrough £9,000,000
Sam Winnall Barnsley £1,500,000
Morgan Fox Charlton £1,000,000

He's on Wilder's side. He posted loads of tweets before about him needing a new deal.

This is what you get when you have a manager who is close to the club.

The person in question on Twitter has now got loads of extra followers just on the basis of his relationship with our manager. Consequently people pump him for info.

Likewise I doubt he'll ignore everyone because he'll want to show he knows what's going off.

Wilder's often understated it when he's mentioned numbers in the past.

4 will be the bare minimum - CM, AM, CB, CB.

Then a goalkeeper and another attacking player (RW/CF) are very likely as well.

I know a chap that knows a chap.
Was confirmed on Twatter shortly after.

I enjoyed listening to McCabes interview

Sounded upbeat and full of confidence in CW

Let's hope that confidence transpires onto the pitch with the aid of AK and CW

His whistling was annoying!

"3 or 4 more" sounded very vague. We've already named 3 targets (Holmes, Leonard and EEL). I'd expect a keeper and another centre-back before the end of the window.

I get what you are saying and to some extent I agree with you.
But that list to me says that the pigs signings were nearly all from the Premiership or the Championship( I thought Wallace came from Burnley not Preston could be wrong).
Our signings so far are from the 1st & 2nd Division. For me the slightly worrying thing is it's not so much the cost it's what division's ours are from.

Agree that now would be a good time to spend and really cement our place in the championship.

I do tend to disagree about the quality of the signings we have made so far... They are all gambles but plenty of upside.

Stevens - Pompy player of the year, best left back in league 2. Good pedigree early on in his career - dropped down and is making his way back up.
Thomas - Hartelpool player of the year - performed well in a crap side and is only young.
Ched - Jury is out for me - but has the biggest upside of all if form and fitness combine again.
Bladock - right age and good cover at the least in a position we are short in. Seemed to b fairly rated at MK Dons.

Holmes and Leonard would also be players of the season at their respective clubs.

Not much of a mate then really, more of a Twitter attention whore? I'm sure CW could do without mates like that, I know I could.

Stevens is probably our most positive signing so far IMO.

They all have promise, but he's been in great form for 2 seasons, is rated very highly and is the only one very likely to be a regular.

Agreed.

The signings all make sense and cover areas where we just didn't have any cover (particularly at full back.)

hink people get hung up on what division people have played in. Stevens was at a decent premier league club earlier on in his career and just didn't quite work out for him. New outlook, regular football etc all mean he's closer to fulfil that initial potential.

Confidence and a good system can do wonders.

Clucas at hull was non league before Chesterfield so was Harry Arter (in fact half his team mates have worked their way up the divisions.)

Maybe a little. I'm assuming they're referring to the mate I'm thinking they are. In which case he wouldn't drop CW in it but likewise I doubt he'd do a complete blackout either.

Shackell could be a loan option for us, Blackman too.

Not surprising at all, he's on their doorstep. He'll have a load of other interest too.

This only harms our chances of getting the sell on for Walker.

Man City are after two right backs after releasing both Zabaleta and Sagna. Walker is still on the list of potential targets.

Walker and Alves though, with only one of them playing? I don't see it, but you never know.

Mad world at City these days mate. Pep will be really pushing for silverware in all fronts, plenty of chance for both to play.

My mate City fan says biggest thing that could stop Walker is interest in some Portuguese RB from one of their big clubs. Can't recall the players name. All rumours but he think they're looking at a few options.

Nelson Semedo from Benfica. 23 years old, very quick with bags of stamina.

That sounds about right. I'd be surprised if Walker wasn't somewhere new after not featuring much for Spurs towards the end of the season.

If I was in the public eye I'd not have a problem with my mates making sure people appreciated how difficult my job was.

I see your point, I guess it could be read like that. I just think that at times with some people having a bit of ITK information gives them some sort of feeling of power and massages the ego when they share it.

Why would Wilder go public saying his budget (fees or wages) has increased by £1.3 million ? When Walker is sold do we tell the world we have another £4million (or whatever it is ) to spend ? In the interview he didn't comment either way whether he had that money to spend.

1.3M hardly life changing in the current football markets, when relegation favourite Bristol City want to spend 5m on a striker. I just expected Wilder to say it will help bring in more quality players, i just thought he came across as saying it has made no difference.

How stupid do you think other clubs are? It's been in the papers. CW can say what he wants but every CEO, DoF, manager and agent in the UK and beyond will know how much we've received. FFS, we know.

FFS, we know.

And we are just some random guys on t'internet.

We also know that the moon landings were faked, Kennedy's assassin was on the grassy knoll and 9/11 was a Jewish conspiracy. You can learn loads on the web and also still have time to get a gorgeous Russian girlfriend and buy some stuff to make your sex life out of this world.

Yet what we don't know is if Wilder's budget has been increased which was the point ......ffs

Lot of stuff happening now.

Michael Keane to Everton for £25m, pushing Jags further down the pecking order.

Bristol City have signed the big, hungry, black and probably pacy striker from Angers for £5.3m.

Conor McLaughlin to Millwall on a free transfer.

Jack Marriott to Peterborough for 400k. Luton striker who is apparently a Blades fan, skillful little player and young at 22. Could spending that sort of fee indicate they're about to receive money for Maddison?

Blackburn have signed Ben Gladwin. Why has it taken relegation for them to get their act together and start signing players and spending money? They've also signed Peter Whittingham, Bradley Dack, Richard Smallwood and look like signing Tony McMoron from Bradford.

Middlesbrough interested in Sam Johnstone. Why they seem to be ignoring Connor Ripley like they are is baffling. He's one of their own and has great potential. We could have a go at signing him, possibly.

So?
