General transfers/rumours

I would have thought the fact that I am a Blade and am posting on what is a public forum gives me the right to use the term “we” without being judged. Oh, and I won’t be directing my comments at Wilder, as I am sure he has much more on his plate than be concerned about what anyone on this forum is posting.

Yes I was referring to Leonard and Holmes, although it must also be said that all of our completed deals to date are bargain basement. Going back to Leonard and Holmes, I just find it a little strange that given the fact that we obviously want these players, (yes I said we) I do find it a little concerning we haven’t put a little more financial clout into the offerings, let’s face it we are talking peanuts here. I also find myself wondering, is just pure luck that no one else as offered more cash and if they did would that be the end of it. What happened to think Liverpool, because at the moment we are thinking more like Accrington Stanley.

Could you elaborate on how other clubs not meeting the bargain basement asking price for players is 'pure luck' rather than judgement?

It's an intriguing proposition in the world of professional football with every club having managers, assistants and scouts and all players having greedy agents.

Maybe Leonard and Holmes are concealed behind a Klingon Cloaking Device?

Wilder has said he hasn't got extra funds from the Maguire sale, a bit disappointed if this is the case as surely that was a bonus as it came completely out of the blue.

Under the new financial fair play rules as a championship club they can lose £39 million on a rolling three year basis (from March this year). I think they are going for it in year one based on those figures. It works out at £13 million per season on average (made up of £8 million of equity injected by owners and £5 million operating losses). Given those figures show £25 million, they are allowed to lose £14 million for the season just gone. IF they did lose £14 million then the losses for the forthcoming season must be no more than £11 million.this coming season.

I suspect the lack of transfer activity across the city may have something to do with FFP as well.
Was talking with a Wendy at the weekend, asked about lack of anything happening, he said he was concerned because he doesn't expect much activity, when I asked why he said FFP, not something I had considered, went away with a grin on my face though.

If you are referring to Fridays interview, he didn't exactly say he hasn't got it. He said he knows his budget and that hasn't changed since the Maguire deal yet - that could still change.

What Wilder has shown, and proved, is that with a keen eye you can buy players who have the qualities to succeed from just about anywhere. Surely the key is just how good the player is, not where he's currently playing?

The obvious player to point to in this discussion is Jamie Vardy. Admittedly, not many of his quality about, but there are enough to warrant continuing to look. I understand why looking at a higher level might bring in a higher quality of player immediately, but as we know, paying a king's ransom doesn't guarantee success. For fairly obvious reasons, we have to trust in Wilder and Knill's judgement. The pair of 'em have managed, within a few months, to change the Blades from a bunch of ordinary looking players into a team/squad whose desire and willingness to play attractive football, compete for one another, and give us something to be proud of, is something that took all of us by surprise. We're now back where we belong, so whoever Chris brings in they'll get the support they deserve. We may suffer more defeats, we may be on a very steep learning curve, and to be honest, I'm not that concerned. What matters to me is what I see on the pitch, and given what we all know about Wilder, woe betide anyone who doesn't give their all as they emerge for each game,

I never mentioned an asking price, to my knowledge there hasn’t been any. I am just saying that if we really want these players we should show a little more intent, it’s not as if we are intending breaking the bank. Maybe it’s just luck on our part that no other club has come in with a better offer and secured a deal. Or is it that we aren’t that bothered about signing these players? The impression I get is that we do want these players but are playing a dangerous game.

Why would Wilder go public saying his budget (fees or wages) has increased by £1.3 million ? When Walker is sold do we tell the world we have another £4million (or whatever it is ) to spend ? In the interview he didn't comment either way whether he had that money to spend.

Hes obviously not a close pal of the manager if hes posting utter bollocks on twitter that I imagine one of his best buddies told him, probably in confidence.....

One of his best mates for 30 years.

It's not luck is it? I think you've probably realised that because, sensibly, you haven't elaborated on your original proposition but merely repeated it.

The obvious conclusion is that the present valuations of Southend and Charlton respectively are not bargain basement at all. It's axiomatic if given a moment's logical thought. In fact, no club is prepared to pay the price you think we should offer.

Your better point, and the reality, would be that neither club wants to sell arguably its best player and you think we should force the issue by making an 'offer that they can't refuse'; one self-evidently higher than their market value which, at the moment, is defined by our existing offers.

Tufty doesn't agree with you. He'll be proved right I suspect, in the next couple of weeks...

No.

They are keeping their powder dry for Ronaldo. He's a mate of Semedo's so it is pretty much a done deal and the Massive are probably the only other club in Europe on a par with Real Madrid.

Remember when Samedo said Ronaldo was gonna visit Hillsbro and watch a game.everyone had a circle jerk and it made the Star too then he didn't visit and Samedo got released and it all looked a bit embarrassing g

He's on Wilder's side. He posted loads of tweets before about him needing a new deal.

I'm not saying he isn't but i'm sure loads of people have posted tweets about him needing a new deal. There's been plenty of comments on here about him needing a new deal.

Can you see Wilder being happy with his mate posting his business all over Twitter?

Sounds like a great idea - let's tell every club in the country we have a huge transfer budget, that way when we come sniffing for a player they can increase the value because they know we can afford it!

Disgraceful if true - and no signs so far that it isn't true.

How is this disgraceful? By rights as 1 of 3 newly promoted teams we should have a bottom 3 budget as we haven't had Championship TV money or prize money for that reason. If the budget rumours are to be true we didn't even have the biggest budget in the league one last season. I'm perfect confident in Wilders ability to make a
Success of any Budget and I wouldn't be surprised if the Figure quoted in the budget was part his doing he seems determined to make the club financially sound unlike. It's in this league.

I would take John Flecks and a stable future every day over the week over over inflated PL rejects demanding £30k pw who are approaching 30 not naming names but points my index finger towards S6.

The future of this club is paramount and if any bubble bursts then at least we will still have a club to support. Fucking love an underdog me UTB

Huddersfield aren't just 'little Huddersfield'. They're extremely well backed. You can't offer £100 season tickets without the costs being covered elsewhere.

Your man Mooy from Citeh won't have been a cheap loan, even if they only covered half his wages. Wagner won't have been working for peanuts, either.

Agreed. Hoyle et al have serious bunce.

Apparently they still want Leonard, but they won't need him as much now. This can only help us.

Revel. Tafazolli. When will people learn that when CW says he will only pay what he thinks someone is worth, he means it.

We're never short of an agenda while you're around are we?

Natural justice requires the accuser to prove his case; not the accused to disprove it.

In any event, no doubt you'll be throwing a few quid in to redress the deficit created by our disgraceful chairman? I won't. I only spend other people's money.

I'd forgotten last year's Revell meltdown. It was rumoured he got an extra £500 per week at Northampton.

I certainly wouldn't be surprised if we had a bottom 5 budget. Probably only burton, Barnsley, millwall, and maybe Bolton at a push who have less than us

Wilder has signed the new deal, confirmed by McCabe!
More signings to come.
More money available in Jan.
Prince in discussions with fella Arabs over more investment!
