So if Harry gets sold for £15m say, the profit is £15-2.5 = £12.5m And if it's a 15% sell-on clause that's £1.875m.

As soon as Keown and Danny Murphy dedicated 5 minutes of MOTD to Harry's 'best performance I have ever seen by a CB' (actual quote from Keown) I said he would sign for one of the big boys. He has put in a few more show stopping performances since.

Of the PL top 6 I think Spurs and Chelsea are pretty sound defensively. Manure are flattered defensively by Boreinho's tactics and don't have great defenders. Arsenal, Man City and Liverpool are verging on shambolic at times so possibly 1 of those 3?

I noticed Porktalk has a thread that mentioned signing him. One poster turned their nose up because of his connection to us before several more 'corrected' him by being absolutely sure that he supports them. Sorry lads you couldn't be more wrong. He did, but some of your scummier element made him see the light when he joined our academy. Blade ever since.

Even when all sense would dictate that the lad is a Blade now after being in our academy and then first team and the fact he turns up to watch Utd from time to time when he has the opportunity, they still try and cling to a 'he likes us best' claim as he is a decent player. Wednesday fans used to abuse Harry and call him a clogger and leadboots etc. They were clowns then, they're clowns now. I predicted Harry would play for England during his first full season at United.A lot of our fans called him "leadboots" and focused on his lack of pace - even in his last season at United. Harry's a bit strange, as he has the build of a kick it and head it centre back, but the technical ability of a top class ball playing centre half. He does lack pace, but this can be covered up if he plays at the centre of a back three. Even in a back two, if he has a quick partner this can be masked. In a defensive team, ala Mourinho, he wouldn't even require the fast partner. His reading of the game is also excellent, but maybe has been stifled somewhat by Bruce not playing him? I believe that if your weakness is pace, your rise will be slower, as you need to compensate by learning the game. If you have lightning pace, you can compensate for a lot of inadequacies and rise faster.
Should add: I've seen him on John Street watching a number of midweek games since he left. He was in the Chessie end on the last game of the season, watching his brother. There's also a video of him doing the rounds singing United songs with some of our current team.

If he's able to get a little more athletic then he'll do well where ever he goes as he does seem to read the game well.

Problem in England is that we've been led to believe by the media and match of the day, that the likes of Terry and Ferdinand are international quality, which they never were. Ferdinand had pace and could play the ball, he couldn't defend, whereas Terry was a leader, but his reading of the game was terrible. What made Terry a 'good defender' on MOTD and sky was his passion and bravery. Still remember when Jags played for England and they conceded, Jags got blamed for the goal. So that was what they analysed. However they missed the fact that Jags was covering Terry's man as Terry was off being passionate and brave diving in and letting his man go, leaving his centre half partner with two men.

Maguire was always comfortable on the ball for us, very good in the air and despite being seemingly slow to react at times, he had pace over a few yards to recover. Positionally he looked sound. So i think most of the attributes of a top European Centre half (like Canavaro) were there.

Also Maguire played alongside Collins, so its perhaps not fair to judge him as it probably felt like we were playing with 10 men

Campbell and Ferdinand were the best England partnership for a long time imo. Harry Maguire has a lot of the strengths and weaknesses of Barca's Pique.

And i think the problem that you have is that people like Rio Ferdinand, Terry Henry, Danny Murphy and Jamie Redknapp end up as the pundits which seem to fit the mould for the likes of Sky and BBC. They're the nice choices.

The likes of Shearer, Hoddle, Carragher and Gary Neville are able to provide, in my opinion, excellent analysis. To be honest i don't really look or listen beyond Gary Neville for punditry.

The English game has stagnated because we've had a poor set up at International level (constantly changing managers, not providing a good U18 and U21 transition for players, picking names rather than the quality) and the Premier League teams have just gone overseas for players.

The Goalkeeper is another example. During the 80's and 90's England, the British Isles and Ireland were producing excellent Keepers, now you see so few top keepers.

Campbell, yes, completely agree, what a player. For me, he needed more time at the top. But Ferdinand, thought he was an overpriced show pony, very surprised that Man U ever signed him. But I guess Fergie thought he could turn him into a proper defender. That said, Fergie needed a centre half to play the ball on the deck.

Man U since Fergie have splashed the cash on players, but they still end up with Phil Jones and Smalling at the back, I honestly don't think those two would make it into many league one sides. They're awful.
