Player Suggestion Marcus Maddison

I am sure it wasn't his pony tail. Maybe my memory is playing tricks, thought he scored a screamer of a free kick in the first half to put them ahead. Second half he fired one over and hit the woodwork I think?

He didn't play against us at their place, he was injured. In fact he missed quite a few games through injury so the fact he still scored 13, especially in an underperforming team, is impressive. I thought he looked good against us at BL, a bit similar to Duffy and Mark Marshall (Bradford) in that he'd drift from side to side and find space, and then show quality when he got the ball. He did miss one or two good chances that day though.

I'm wondering what might have happened if we had Holmes this season. Think he would've done brilliantly in our team.

Don't think we should touch Holmes now too old if carruthers wants to leave look for half a mil from Charlton move on .
What Wilders done well with over the last couple of transfer windows is bringing players in the same age early 20s. Players that will grow together get better together and have increased in value he needs to carry that on

Maddison is a great player but I feel that he's not a Wilder type player as he doesn't work hard enough for the team. Holmes would be a much better acquisition.

Must admit, I have absolutely no interest in replaying this season. I mean, how much better could it have been?

Just imagine Maddison playing his heart out for CW.
Holmes wouldn't even come close.

Much prefer Maddison over Holmes.
One appears to have reached his peak whilst the other has time and seemingly more skill on his side. Maddison just needs to apply himself and can think of no better manager than CW to do that

I wanted us to sign Maddison when he started knocking them in effortlessly for Gateshead. It looked pretty obvious then that he could step up a level or two and so it's proved.

As others have said I'm not sure he'd fit straight into Wilder's style of play but he has undoubted quality so personally I'd be happy if we gambled and gave him a go.

These video's can be misleading I know but see what you think after this. Their fans say he's far too good for them. I on't think he's coming for a minute to be honest because he is a southerner as you say and seemed to want to move to London but I can't see a player in our squad as good as Holmes in the hole position - currently occupied by Duffy.

Good free kicks but you have to question the level of coaching in this league. Every free kick in the same place. Do keepers not do any research?!!

As for Holmes, I'm not sure he has the required workrate Wilder would want to see. Obviously, he's had him before so knows the score. I'd rather get someone younger in though. Maddison would be a great signing.

I think I read that Charlton fans said he has a decent work rate? Wilder did sign him before so presumably he is Wilder's sort of player?

So this season's Sam morsy/eion doyle/Dan burn thread is here could stretch to 200 pages before he signs for forest or someone

Holmes has got the exact work rate Wilder desires. He's like a fly round shit.

Maddison been linked with Leeds and Bolton. Apparently Leeds tried to sign him previously

I'm not overly fussed about reading that to be honest and I never really disagreed with your statement. I was just pointing out that when he played against us he didn't really do much, after the first 10 minutes. He seemed to be one of those players who are very good at making themselves look busy whilst not having much impact.

Personally, I'm more bothered that he's turned us down for more money once before. I'd much rather us go for someone younger with more potential.

You might wanna read it, we're after him again apparently and they wax lyrical about him. 'Without him we'd be League 2'.
He didn't turn us down for more money he turned us down for location, soft southerners can't cope up north. But he might fancy a tilt at the championship. I hope we sign him.

That's interesting, if they only wanted £2m in January it will only be less now, whereas I thought that's the minimum he'd cost.

On the other hand if Charlton are interested and there's any chance they could get him that could suggest he doesn't warrant the sort of interest from Championship clubs that we assumed he would have.

If Bolton have a genuine chance of getting him then we certainly do.

I'd like us to sign Holmes and Maddison. And that would be another one over on Robinson. I wonder if it would be a case of one or both though?

Maddison has potential I may be wrong but didn't Maddison come only 2nd to Billy in the stats this season with regards to Goals involved in?

Can you imagine the neck ache he'd get if he went to those agricultural, prehistoric, tax dodging thieving dinosaurs at Bolton! If we want him, we'll get him. Not sure myself. Always looked decent when it was sunny and firm! Hid when the going got tough. And always seemed to go for the outrageous than set someone up in a better position when on the ball. His dead ball expertise is top notch. But is it better than the tried and trusted CW favourite, Holmes?

Heavily linked with Charlton ffs how can they be ahead of us!

I'd have Holmes before him every day of the week, and twice on Sundays. Holmes is the finished article, with a work ethic that Maddison the show pony could only dream of.
