Pretty sure this will be as soon as the players are back from the vegas trip, Wilder and Knill will know already and will allow the released players as much time to find a new club as possible

Anyone know when we will be deciding who stays and goes?
Is it down to us? If so, here's my out list:

Long
Hussey
Reed
Scougall
Done
EEL
Wilson
McNulty
Hanson

Sounds like EEL has gone back already. Sounds like Chapman is going back as well, which is a shame!

Only doubt in the above list for me is Wilson. We don't have much cover in terms of a big centre back and he is one. Whether Wilder thinks he's good enough I don't know and we've not seen much of him to know either.

Surprise addition to that list perhaps is Hanson. Think he's served his purpose and won't be good enough at Championship level.

No place for sentiment and pretty much agree with that list - you aren't wrong about WIlson either.

Released lists are for players out of contract but almost all the players you've listed are under contract. EEL's not even ours!

Our released list will comprise Scougall, Done and McNulty. There will be a parallel announcement about the club having exercised options in Basham, Coutts, Freeman and Sharp's contracts. If there's an announcement about transfer listing then Hussey will be on it; Long, Reed and Whiteman will be available for loan.

Hanson and Wilson are under contract and will be useful squad members next season.

Long, Hussey, Reed, Wilson and Hanson are all under contract for next season (Hanson for two more seasons). The players who are out of contract and therefore the ones Wilder/AK need to make a decision on are:-

Freeman
Basham
Scougall
Coutts
McNulty
Done
Sharp

On some of those, the club can trigger a one year extension if they want to. Sharp and Done definitely have those clauses in their contracts, possibly others too.

There is also O'Shea who presumably we have an agreement with that we can trigger if we want. Plus EEL and Chapman on loan.

Brooks going on a season loan to Chessy as part of the Ched deal by all accounts.

Rumours of Samir to Charlton?

Then there's the likes of Done, McNulty, Scougall, Hussey, Wilson, Long, Reed etc. who might be moved on if there are takers. I can see us keeping Clarke and Hanson for the start of the new season but wouldn't be surprised if Hanson moved on in January. Possibly to Bolton to reunite with mardy Parky.

Tuff decisions,Wilders words in an interview.
Will be tough for Wilder. He knows how delighted everyone at the club is after promotion and he knows he's got to give some the bullet and bring in better quality. Bit of a kick in the bollocks for some but this is football and cruel decisions have to be made.

I think thats about the size of it. He'll have loved every minute of being at his club, but now he'll have to make some shitty decisions, but they do have to be made. I'm certain he's got the Cajones to do it though, he won't fuck about with sentiment.

Window closes end of August. Until then, owt could happen, we could part exchange Fleck for Neymar, sell Billy to the pigs for £10m, owt.

While we haven't seen too much of Wilson, I don't remember him doing too much wrong when he has played, and I was impressed with him and O'Connell on the first day or the season at Bolton.

I don't think it will be as many as people are thinking.

I think Scougall and McNulty are certainties and probably the only two. I have a suspicion he will give Done another year.

He played well at MK,slotted in really smoothly looked ok.

I predict:

Released: Scougall, Done, McNulty

Transfer listed: Hussey, K Wallace (if he still exists)

Open to offers: Long, Brayford, Wilson, Hanson

Available for loan: Reed, Brooks, Whiteman

Special permission to leave because girlfriend can't survive up north and we'd quite like Ricky Holmes anyway: Carruthers...... possibly

I can't wait for the "Who will we get in the fixture list and when?" thread personally. The height of boredom when that one crops up.

Just to get it started early....PLEASE not the pigs on 23rd/24th September. My best mate is getting married in Newcastle that weekend and I'm best man. I'll be fucking devastated if I have to miss us battering the pigs*

*disclaimer - they're not gonna win the playoffs in a million years so this is a valid shout.

Which position is Done suited to Playing?
Not good enough as a wing back, defensively dire.
Not good as a forward as has no idea how to take up,positions and link play.
Cannot fault his work rate etc. But I do not see where he fits in and adds anything to,a championship, team when he could not get in last seasons team.

None in the Championship

Has incredible work rate, but that`s about all he brings to the party IMO.
Would be amazed if Wilder retains him for next year.

Given Billy's various renditions of anti-pig songs at the Town Hall, I would respectfully suggest that the former is more likely than the latter.

Maybe, to while away the long summer months, we could start a 'how much would Fleck be worth part ex against Neymar/Messi/Ronaldo' type thread?

Or not......

Cant see Hanson getting shown the door - only just signed him. EEL goes back to Wolves - doubt we will pay for him anyway with new contract. The others I can see being moved on.

When Wilder is talking about tough decisions, I think that's a nice way of saying to Done that he won't be retained. It is hardly code for a list that just contains those that have barely been involved like Scougall and McNulty.

Done played a vital role up till Christmas, but a peripheral role since. He is too poor a defender and too poor a passer to be a viable back-up to the left-sided positions we might go with, and is going to be well down the pecking order up front. Time to thank him for his significant contribution this season, and wish him well at his next club.
