I remember the photo that accompanied the write-up in The Green Un. The look of sheer horror on Martin Peters' face as Givens missed that pen is etched into my brain.

To be fair, he was an ex England World Cup winner and inherited a difficult situation. What annoys me more is that we keep doing it; how many ex assistants and coaches have we put in charge since and, of those, how many achieved anything?

Definitely Kop. I was stood in John Street old stand directly behind managers dug out. Peters turned his back on play and faced us. Couldn't watch it himself. Funny my recollection is Givens hit it over the bar but I stand corrected by other writers. Probably the worst moment of my watching the Blades.

I was 13 and us young uns used to stand at the front of the kop just to the right. It was, as said on here, at the kop end. I went on the pitch cause everyone did but didn't know what to do other than look around.

That was the day that I learnt supporting Sheffield United was not going to be like supporting plastic teams.

The (relative) success is so much better when you've been on a Journey in Blades wonderland. Would have liked a bit more success, a little bit more luck and a team that can do play offs, but overall wouldn't swop being a proper fan for following anyone else..

Hopefully, northampton will be a day to remember!
