was bored so was thinking who could we get next season to ensure we stay in the championship or knowing chris wilder push for the prem (i've got a feeling this is what he will do), here's my list of who I would like to see:
Lee Camp (GK) Long is going to either be sold or leave on loan in the summer, free agent in the summer, need some backup/competition for Moore, I know he's old but he's experienced which is good.
Jack Price (CM) always been impressed with him and he is young (only 24), could be worth a punt.
Marley Watkins (RW/ST) out of contract in summer I believe, scores goals for Barnsley whenever he gets in the team.
David Cotterill (RM) good championship player, out of contract, though we might have to tempt him away from Bristol city if he's enjoying his time there.
Byron Webster (CB) went in for him in summer, reckon wilder will still be looking at him.
Kyle Mcfadzean (CB) another summer target, Wilder may be keeping an eye on him (his scouts at Burton are watching Brayford constantly), he is doing well at Burton this season, surely he wouldn't turn down the chance given he wanted to come to us in the summer.
This is just my opinion and i fully back Wilder and Co to do a good job in the summer, who knows we may sign some of these players we may sign none of them, who knows what will happen onwards and upwards UTB

Nay, nay, and thrice nay. Cotteril is not the answer, unless the question is "Who is a nesh bugger afraid of his own shadow?"

Neil Etheridge Walsall keeper, will need quality back up/competition for Moore.

Think we will look at the cream of League One as well as higher, maybe a second attempt for Ricky Holmes, who joined Charlton ahead of us, scored a hat trick at Shrewsbury last night.

We will also go back for Byron Webster, although he is attracting interest from higher, after helping Millwall to the Fa Quarters, and TEN consecutive clean sheets

Much depends on the style of play. Do we continue with the high pressing 3-5-2 system or change to a more traditional 4-4-2 which Wilder initially said he favoured? Budgets and the summer market could come into it, but I think we need half a dozen at least providing all the loans go back.

I think we'll probably be back in for Webster (what an incredible defensive run Millwall are on). Otherwise players like Alex Pearce and Jack Hobbs could be looked at. Jordan Willis from Coventry could be a decent squad player, he's quick and ideal for RCB.

We could possibly go in for Omar Bogle if Wigan are relegated, he's likely to have a relegation release clause. Lee Gregory will no doubt be considered, especially if Millwall don't go up.

We'll need more out wide, and we'll need athleticism. Tendayi Darikwa, Elliott Bennett, Amari'i Bell (Fleetwood LWB), Kazenga LuaLua, Nick Blackman, Callum Harriott and Craig Noone are all players I'd look at. Some good black pace there.

We'll be lacking defensively in midfield in the Championship but we'll have to stick with the formula that's worked so well this season because it's been our main strength. Maybe we'll sign O'Shea permanently, but I'd like Cameron McGeehan to offer competition. He's out of contract too, and has a great attitude.
Maybe Toumani Diagouraga will be a good one to pick up on a free, big, strong, decent athlete and can play a bit too. Sam Morsy would be worth going back in for too if Wigan go down. Conor Coady or George Saville from Wolves would be very good signings, they may be available if they're going to have substantial investment.

Not too sure who to go for and I don't think any of us can be sure until we know for certain what league we're gonna be in next season and what budget we'll be playing with.

The only thing I can be certain of is that Wilder will once again make some shrewd as fuck signings for roughly the cost of half a packet of Quavers that we'll probably all berate him for only to then be proven completely wrong the very minute we see them play.

We'll already have a long list of targets, and no doubt Wilder will pick up some good value.

It's going to be exciting to see him carry out an upscaled version of what he's done in the transfer market this season. We could end up with some very good players indeed.

In terms of numbers it's important to strike the right balance between strengthening and continuity. We can't tear things up completely like Wigan have done. I'd say 6 would be the right number with 4 for the first team.

was talking to me dad about this at the weekend
IF and it is still a IF ! we go up you would have to think he will stay with the same formation atleast at the start of next season as it has been a great success this season and it works well with all the players we have and with the midfield 3 being so good this year ( and O'shea and Carruthers pushing ) all these i would say are strongest in a the middle and not on the wing
.. maybe the one who may struggle slightly above would be Duffy but certainly has earned another chance at champ level

also the back 3 ( with Wright have been great ) but can they do it in the league above

i would think , back up GK, 1 Full /.wing back who ideally can play both flanks !, one winger , new CB , and new CF , get all them and CW continues his impressive recruitment and i think we could have another good season next season

even with only 1 or 2 additions with they way we play and CW in charge i just cant see us massively struggling , as many have said regardless of what the Tuna funded trotters may say , they championship is not that much of a massive jump

Some names I've been impressed with in L1:

Baldock, left wing back at MK Dons.
Josh Vela and Jay Spearing at Bolton. Spearing is out of contract I think, but would probably require a big pay cut
Bristol Rovers: Billy Bodin attacking midfielder and the lad with the huge beard who plays deeper in midfield
Fleetwood: Amari Bell and Conor Mclaughlin.
Scunny: Murray Wallace is worth another look.
Walsall: Oztumer, the midget number ten
Swindon: goalkeeper Lawrence Vigouroux.
There's a couple at Southend out wide but unsure of the names.
Bradford: Left back Meredith always impresses me. Josh Cullen who they have on loan is a big favourite there. Worth keeping an eye on Wyke who they've just signed from Carlisle - he seems to keep scoring.

Maybe it's just me but i don't want the best of what L1 has to offer next season..... In my opinion we have already got the majority of them.

What i want is some Championship experience. Not over the hill players but players who are used to that level of football week in week out.

I will not name names as our current management team seem to have done very well with the signings so far.

If we let Scougall, McNulty, Hussey, Long, Chapman, Riley, O'Shea, Clarke all leave, then we can bring in the experience we will need to enhance the quality we already have.

Yes it will take investment but make no mistake all players will have a tidy pay increase installed in their contracts that will reflect their new Championship status.
I would hope that that will reflect on what we can offer potential new signings to get them to come to us.

I would like 1 x GK 2 X CB 1 X LWB 1 X RWB 2 X CF

Good point, the wage increases/bonuses will have to be factored in financially.

Btw, as far as I'm aware this is the first time since we've been in L1 that we've really incentivised contracts. And we look like getting promotion. What a coincidence.

Other clubs will also receive promotion payments for some recently acquired players.

I think Chapman would be worth keeping for next season (if Boro allow - they might be in Championship themselves).

He's a player that I can see progressing in accordance to the level he plays at, in a similar ilk to the players Barnsley got promoted with.

If Boro go down, which i think there is a real possibility i don't think he would come back to us..... I am not too sure i would have him back to be honest.
I really have not been convinced at all.

Do you think we have better youngsters in our U23 who could make the step up?

Know you watch lot of the development squads.

I think Whiteman is one who should be in and around things. Brooks is a very good player but i can't help feeling he needs to go on loan to L2 next season and play regular mens football.
Semple is highly thought of but again he needs to go out on loan and get games under his belt. Although he is now out until January next year. After that, i don't think any are ready.

We must remember that at this time last year the club cleared out all 19/20 year olds who were not pushing for first team football. This also gave Brooks, Semple, Slater, Hallam etc a clear path to progress. As these lads were only 16/17 years old it will be a year or two for these ones to be ready.

I genuinely think a bunch of home grown talent will come through from season 2018/19 as apposed to this summer.

Whiteman and Brooks could be like 2 new signings with a full pre season with the first team behind them.
I agree Ricky, i would like to see Brooks sign his contract to be honest, wide open at the moment for him to leave.

I'll go for one of them, Webster.

Like you say it might be worth (and it would be interesting to follow) for Brooks to tread down a similar path to Whiteman and head out on loan for week-in, week-out, 'proper' football.

1. Brad Potts. Always seems to do well for Blackpool. Was impressed when they came to the lane last season and could be the long term replacement for Duffy assuming we don’t sign O Shea and we move Scougall on.

2. John Akinde or Omar Bogle (if Wigan go down)- A different type of striker to what we have. Big, powerful guys who are also quick and both score goals.

3. Danny Graham or Lee Gregory (depending on whether Blackburn and/ or Millwall are in League 1 next season)- Clever, all round forward players who would be a marked improvement on the likes of Done/McNulty/Clarke.

4. Murray Wallace- CB who since signing for Scunthrpe has been very good for them. I was impressed with him at the lane the other week. He’s still pretty young too so if they don’t go up, I think he’d be a good signing.

5. Harry Chapman- If ‘Boro stay up, he might be allowed to stay on at least on loan again if not permanent.

6. Neil Ethereidge to challenge Moore.

7. Byron Webster or Kyle McFadzean on the assumption we don’t sign EEL permanently.

Assuming that Long, K. Wallace, Scougall, McNulty, Done, Clarke all move on and the loans (O’Shea, EEL, Chapman, Riley) aren’t immediately renewed.

That’s 10 going out (including loans going back) and 7 coming in. I’d then look at trying to get Brooks and possibly Reed out on loan maybe keeping Whiteman as cover for the likes of Fleck and Coutts.

Larkymasher.

You don't mention 'lil Louis? Worth persevering with or call it a day. There comes apoint where a decision needs to be made.

Of the league 1 players I've been impressed with id look at, Webster, Oztumer, Maddison, Spearing, Vela and maybe Lee Gregory
