"Football Gods" is definitely one term that has really fucking grated on me this season. There's no such thing. You succeed or fail on merit.

Unless you're Sheffield United, in which case the football gods allus have summat out of leftfield up their sleeve.

Got to try and enjoy it because it will probably be a long time before we have anything like this again.

You aren't a believer in the game changing money appearing and leading to back to back promotions then?

We're finally getting out of this god foresaken league boys...

F*ck your superstitions, F*ck your football gods.

Chris Wilders' Red & White Army

That post reminded me of cooperblade 's similarly confident post on BU the year we won promotion to the Premier League. Let's hope you're spot on as well! :-)

Said pretty much the same on the Bolton Demise thread yesterday. In the past we have failed because we were shit or we bottled it. This time it's different. Instead of celebrating some of our fans would rather crawl into a fucking hole.

Been saying for a couple of months now that if we finish February on top I can't see who's out there that can stop us. Get a result vs. Bristol and we'll leave Scunthorpe and Bolton needing to beat us and a draw or win for us from either (hopefully both) would be huge.

Still a long way to go after that so I'm not saying more than that. I'm not superstitious or anything, I'm just a coward.

No. We've had six years of misery. No excitement, exhilaration or enthusiasm permittted at the Lane Library. No criticism of the Trappist fans either. They're too traumatised to make any noise you know....

I'll concede that it definitely feels like a promotion season but it's still tight. Bolton and Scunny both have games in hand on us and there could potentially be just 3 points separating the top three - and we have games against both our rivals coming up. Remember, we have blown it from similar positions before, notably when we were 2nd with a healthy gap to third place in 2013, and when we had pulled well-clear of the relegation places in 2007.

Take nothing for granted - a couple of losses could see us down in 3rd place,

Sheff Utd
31 24 63
Scunthorpe 30 25 58
Bolton 29 18 54

I agree things seem different this year, but please remember we were top in February 2013.
That season closed with that wonderful climactic defeat to those 'Monsters of Football ', the mighty Yeovil. That won't happen this year but equally no one has ever been promoted in February.

One game at a time gentlemen, please.

I'll celebrate each victory as happily as the next fan, but I won't believe we'll be promoted until it's mathematically impossible for anyone to catch us. I would imagine the club players and management will feel the same.
