With respect, it's a bit big time of us to expect to be able to just predate other teams' best players.
Matt Taylor works hard and finds space. That sounds good, but so does Matty Done, and we don't have to pay a fee for him. Before he came here he scored loads of goals for Rochdale once they had switched him into the attack. In his first game for us he scored a belting goal and had another disallowed, and was our most dangerous player for the rest of the season, including when he scored 2 against champions-elect Bristol City. He then got injured and last year Adkins wasted him by playing him as a left wing back.
Matty creates chances for others and gets in position to score goals. He has gone through a non-scoring spell but bagged 2 opportunist goals among the 4 that didn't count against Port Vale. In other words, we already have a man who ticks the boxes and he's just waiting to be restored to the first team.
