Beautiful Downtown London Town
I've only been on this site since 2012, so not exactly during our glory days. I've never seen such enthusiasm for an away day this Saturday. The London Blades will be out in force, people are driving in from East Anglia, coach and trainloads are heading from Sheffield and we've sold over 3,000 tickets for a winter game in League One at the other end of the country.

This is only boosted by a last-minute winner last night and a run that few can believe and barely anyone predicted. In August, I watched us labour to a 2-1 defeat at Millwall. We were dreadful - defensively suspect and created absolutely nothing. We deserved to get thrashed, but managed to keep it to 2-1. We haven't lost since.

I can't wait to get a beer, feel some optimism, wonder how creative we'll be, expect us to score, meet new Blades from all over the country and know that even if we lose (though I quite reasonably think we'll win), there is nothing to be down about at the moment.

What a time to be a Blade and what a Saturday out it should be. COYRAWW!

It's marvellous, all of it, embrace & enjoy it - 6 years of abject misery & gross underachievement & now at long last we have found (an unlikely candidate,I thought at the time) a manager who, well who is fuckin marvellous.

I'm on the 6.30am train on Saturday - hope to see you all!!!

After 2.5 fun-filled hours drive each way in a 14 year old Toyota Yaris (I'm 6 ft 4 and 23 stone) to yesterday's "home" match, then I'm quite looking forward to a true "home(ish)" match. I lived in Elephant and Castle before MK and played in the Kent Rugby League, so a return to the old stomping ground. Great bit of the world really, Charlton/ South-East London, and much prettier than people give it credit.

The 3100 we will take is no shock really, as blades are great travellers and I always seem to remember Charlton Away being full. Can't wait for a proper sing-song (as the Kop was better but still a little quiet last night) and the chance to have a few bevvies. Always liked the pub at the bottom of the hill, by the railway station, think its the Antigallican (big open space, wide screen, sticky floors, plenty of beer/songs).

As I will be on my own on Saturday (Dad is in Cornwall and never lived in Sheffield myself) then wondering if anyone can recommend where the main/majority rendezvous will be. I presume quite a lot will either meet around Kings Cross (although the removal of the Flying Scotsman and other proper drinking haunts reduces this possibility) or Cannon Street (because London Bridge station is not operating Direct Services) or round the ground. Any ideas?

I couldn't agree more, taking my three sons and my dad for a proper day out. It's my youngest's first away day (although technically far nearer to home than Sheffield, which confuses him) and I'm as excited as him. Thank you CW for re-storing pride in this club. UTB.

Just right for their new manager this Satdi as it looks like Karl Robinson might be at the helm

Nowt to be frightened of though. We should fear no one in this division. However, they are improving fast at the moment and I see it being a tough game

New manager getting used to things though, and one who hasn't been doing too well this season. Can see them getting a far less spectacular result than last night.

It's always been The Antigallican whenever I've been in the hour or two before KO.

Before that, the BarrowBoy and Banker at London Bridge is a haunt for all different fans and it can have a very good atmosphere of its full of Blades.

Other than that I would say Greenwich but it's very sedate, family friendly and touristy. Great pubs though.

Had this one planned since Bolton on the first day of the season, looking forward to it. Only thing is I've got to get to Doncaster, from Stocksbridge, for about 8am :(

We're doing the London Bridge/Borough Market area pubs from about midday.
Then back on the tube to cannon st to get the overland train to Charlton station...

Last away game most anticipated by me was the away game against palace at the end of 08/09. We had a slim chance of going up automatically if we won and Birmingham lost.

Palace opened up the entire stand, but even then I couldn't get tickets, so had to sit in the away end watching 10,000 blades fans, many in fancy dress roar the team on. It was a magnificent sight to behold :)

Strange atmosphere at the moment. There's a respectful hush as we pass and probe, then the place goes nuts in the last minute.

Still, that's a big improvement on last season when it was stultified silence interspersed with irate outbursts.

Don't get the tube to cannon Street, simply walk over London Bridge and turn left and you can't miss it.

It's a 5 min walk from the barrowboy and banker pub

Shit match though. I think thats one of two matches I took the wife to.

Indeed, it was obvious from a few minutes in that we weren't going to get anything.

It was amusing listening to the fans shouting for warnock to give us a wave, and then when he didn't asking for Blackwell for a wave as the consolation instead.

Ok thanks for the heads up.
Although it might be more of a wabble over London Bridge

Another tough fixture bit it should be a more open game which will suit us. They will be under real pressure to perform in front of an exasperated home crowd. Maybe we should be the team that tries to frustrate for a change?....
Nah, fuck that. Attack, attack, attack!!
