Forgot that! Yes against Udinese!what about the anglo italian game?
Forgot that! Yes against Udinese!
Yes, Bassett was sent off and one of their players too.Wasn't it three players AND the manager?
Didn't Harry get sent off for going on the pitch and making the "wanker" symbol at the latest Udinese player to get challenged and go down like there was a sniper in the stands?Yes, Bassett was sent off and one of their players too.
That was a strange game.Pompey had 3 players sent off (Billy Gilbert, Mick Tait and Kevin Dillon) and Peter Beagrie for us too, all in the first half of our 1-0 win in Nov 1986
The first and last sending off was harsh (Gilbert and Dillon). The linesman saw the clash between Beagrie and Tait, called the ref over and told him what he saw, before the clashing pair got the red card. In the Star on the following Monday Beagrie claimed that Tait had headbutted him but a friend told me that he saw Beagrie spit at TaitThat was a strange game.
If my memory serves me right we won with a Paul Mariner own goal
I remember thinking that at least one of their sending offs was very harsh and the ref was a proper plonker who had obviously never played the game
I'm framing this post!Forgot that! Yes against Udinese!
I remember that game fondly. Very bizarre and unfriendly.Yes, Bassett was sent off and one of their players too.
I was there that day and have always believed that it was the ref that he was gesturing at. Funniest thing I've ever seen at a game - and he wasn't encroaching onto the pitch either, he was in the centre circle!Didn't Harry get sent off for going on the pitch and making the "wanker" symbol at the latest Udinese player to get challenged and go down like there was a sniper in the stands?

Remember Neil Collins equalising at Scunny not so long ago when we had nine men. Obviously not three sent off but made me think of it.
Yes in Sept 1991. Hartfield and Beesley got the red card in the 1st half. Deane (who didnt play for the next 10 weeks due to glandular fever) pulled a goal back just after half timeI remember being 2-0 down away at Oldham (1991?) and we went down to nine men at half-time. We won the second half 1-0, but didn't quite manage to get an equaliser despite some pressure.
That was a strange game.
