he'll turn round and do a runner when he gets there and see's what a shithole it is, won't he Barry Blunt ?

Yes, of you're narrow minded enough to think the area around the ground is representative of the whole town. Plenty of millionaire pads around town.

Could be worse, we could try and tart up 1960 council flats like Park Hill, instead of demolishing them.

It is only (c) that I worry about. I think it is a good decision for the club and the player. He may do well with Brum, playing with better players and with more time and space. Then again if he was that special I would have expected a little more than we got last season. Who knows? Tony Field looked brilliant once, as did I.

I remember the 'once' and you have to say it was a pretty special 'once'. 3-1 against Ipswich I think?

Anyway, I'm pretty sure if (c) doesn't happen, Tufty (as I call him) may well revisit (a) and (b)!...

The brilliant Tony Field goal was in fact in the 3-1 win , not 7-0 or 7-3 some think.

The final pieces in the jigsaw puzzle can now be completed by Wilder without a power point presentation.

Good day of business at BDTBL.

He got another that day as well. Silent will helpfully fill in the third, I'm sure...

It will certainly be seen as a good day of business if Tufty (as I call him) is able to bringemin; bringemallin; bringemallinnow...

could be right mate about Park Hill, I can't honestly make my mind up since they were tarted up. Used to have a mate from Bloxwich but lost touch a number of years ago. Just a bit of banter mate, you can't come on here calling yerself Barry Blunt and not be up for some banter ;)

Not a disaster, good young prospect who wasn't and isn't close to being our best player. If we re-invest this money this can easily be the making of our season of course that's a big if.

Our 3rd goal that day was courtesy of a Mick Mills OG.
Sorry to impinge on silent territory.

We will only regret it if we don't use the money to strengthen key areas

Agreed and how often have we succeeded in doing that or arguably even tried to at all? I realise I'm being rather pessimistic but our history in these areas doesn't incline me to believe anything will change.

If for a moment I imagine the money will be reinvested in players then at best we are looking at 60% of whatever the fee is (believed to be £1.7m up front by some) so about £1m. At a push with that sort of money you can get two players of the quality we need to improve the team and that's if you're lucky and get the right ones. I still think we needed 3 players (4 now that Che has gone).

That was the first goal before Field scored twice. Woody dribbled past defenders on the right side of the box before hitting a shot that crashed against the post and Mick Mills couldnt get out of the way when the rebound hit his legs. Mick Lambert scored for Ipswich

So, Ché has gone just when I'd figured out how to get the accent over the é.

All I can say is........

I know, let's all go to the Sam Morsy thread.

Wilder has just today stated, as quoted by James Shield, that he is ready to jump immediately in to the transfer market again. New signings are imminent, which I believe means this week?

Wilder has obviously done his homework (probably weeks ago) and knows exactly which players he wants and needs. Players will already have been lined-up for the specific positions, that he knows are needing to be filled. The sale of Che Adams will allow him to strengthen the obvious weaknesses that Wilder knows exist.

Wilder is not stupid, and is no mug. Let the bloke do his job, and I'm pretty sure that we will do very well this season.

I applaud your enthusiasm and your optimism !! ;)

If it all transpires as you suggest and we do bring in the 4/5 decent players we need immediately, then I shall celebrate like a good 'un ..........

However, knowing the workings of our Board ....... I shall be keeping the party poppers in the bag and the champagne corked until I see the new players wearing the red & white stripes and then I shall believe it o_O

The golden rule of being a United supporter is to believe it when you see it as our board are great at talking a good game .......

I imagine that Wilder would do a Spackman if the board don't keep to their word. I'm pissed off at Adams for leaving but i'm confident Wilder will spend wisely.

You could have the answer there you know ;)

And I believe that Tufty may have the balls to do it ........

If the board do their usual trick and offer him about £200k to spend ...... it would be great if Tufty went toe-to-toe with them and said; "either I get all the transfer proceeds or I resign, and I will tell the supporters the truth why ".

That would put the cat among the pigeons, so to speak and would make a refreshing change from that bloody bottle-less scouser Adams with the bullshit all last season .......... o_O

Anyone see the back of today's Star? ''The Reason Che Went'': essentially saying it was because he refused to commit his future to UTD. Which is fair enough, that's his right, and if he has the belief that he can make it at the Championship, good on him.

I suppose that left us with a two way choice: keep him for the rest of his contract knowing that if we didn't go up he chuffs off for bugger all (and we get to play him for that year, although if we weren't looking certs he didn't strike me as the sort of player to knuckle down). Or we cash in now and try to strengthen the squad.

Last thing this club needs is a fall out between manager and board.
We do not want another change of management under any circumstances.
Wilder will get the job done, but he knows he needs to work with the board not against them. Whatever has gone on in the past, needs to be left there. Let's start afresh, keep fingers crossed and above all support our club.

I'm not ITK, but has anyone thought that the negotiated fee may be in addition to Birmingham paying the Ilkeston sell on fee, that could be what all the declined offers were about?

One thing is for certain ....... our "brilliant negotiating team" would never have thought of that in a million years !! o_O

For me I will not criticise him, players come and go, wonder what Alfreton fans thought a couple of years ago, as long as he didnt mouth off or didnt try then good luck to him, I really hope he makes it, in a couple of years when he moves to a top six premier team I reckon we will all love him, 15% is it?

I think he went because of his general attitude, he certainly doesn't appear to epitomise Chris Wilders 'die for the cause' philosophy. Wilder will be secretly delighted to get him off the books, as we all should be, another season at Bramall Lane and his value would have been one tenth of what Birmingham paid. My heart hopes he's a success and really knuckles down, but my head says this move will fuel his ego more than his enthusiasm, I expect to see him on the front pages more often than the back.

I have a suspicion his partner in crime, McNulty, won't be far behind him either :(

"either I get all the transfer proceeds or I resign, and I will tell the supporters the truth why ".

By this way of thinking Steve Bruce would be a Blades hero. When in fact he jumped ship to further his career with an cushier job.

Managers are just employees and managers are often required to sell players. I doubt Wilder was forced to sell in this instance but if that was the instruction and money needed raising so be it. It doesn't have to be an underhand conspiracy by the board.
