CONFIRMED Che Adams

Che Adams will be one of those players that now he's left will be in the he wasn't any good anyway brigade from people on here, even though he will be playing in a better league with better players than our unambitious club. Every fucking season, it gets more laughable as every mediocre season passes by.

You'll have to exempt me and Chris Wilder, Wiz. Ricky and a few others too. We've nailed our colours before he left.

My own view is the opposite. I would question those who have decided he improved out of all recognition this Summer without playing a single game....

Anyway. He's gone and that's that. And like any other player, as far as I'm concerned once they're off the books they become meaningless.

I don't give a shit if they succeed or fail. The club is what matters, and only the club.

Well me and Gary Rowett, a manager in a higher league, no disrespect to you, CW or Ricky, will have to disagree with yours and many other peoples assertions, Pinchmeister.

Amen to this, TD.

Again every one saying good IF we buy others, why are folk so certain we will?

We never have done in the pAst.

Do we have new ownership I missed, what evidence is there we will reinvest?

Because CW wouldn't have sold him otherwise. It's the main reason HE, (not the board, however much the disingenuous amongst us might like to think otherwise), decided to cash in. As for the fee, we did well. Astonishingly, no other club wanted this future Pele.

I'm one of these revolutionary types who thinks you should keep your best young players AND add other good players to the squad. Obviously this crazy idea will never catch on, I mean if we did this we might get promoted or something daft like that.
Great post!

Or never got relegated in the first place.

I hope you are right in the sense of the reinvestment.

How do you know the fee isn't enough as it's undisclosed?
And I don't think Adams is anywhere near good enough yet to be classed as a big loss like the other players were.

I think it speaks volumes that he's moved to Birmingham....yes they are a championship club, but they are also poor relations to the majority of the other teams in that division. It's not like he's signed for Bournemouth or Spurs who allegedly had shown interest.

Given numerous reports on what the fee is supposed to be I think anyone could predict it without being more than 200k off. The rumoured fee is almost always close to the mark.

It does speak volumes that he's gone to Birmingham. A much better team than us in a division higher sees something in him. By all means talk it up like its a positive but it's not. It won't take us long to regret this one.

I think all will be revealed reasonably soon, mate...

CB, LW and CM on the agenda I believe. Yes, No Shit Sherlock. I appreciate that...but it's what we need and Tufty is on the case.

From what we've already seen and heard of Wilder (and I'm a convert who was dead against him at the start) are people really saying he'd have:

(a) done this deal against his will;

(b) kept his mouth shut about (a);

(c) not made sure he's getting enough of the dosh to do what he wants to do?

We will only regret it if we don't use the money to strengthen key areas

On the one hand we've got more than he's currently worth and he was never a stand out "best" player like Murphy, Maguire, Blackman, McDonald etc. were, but on the other hand I can see him having a very good season with them and it'll look like a piss poor deal on our part. If that were to happen, I just hope Wilder can pull these 4 crucial signings out the bag to soften the blow.

Well he`ll be the first of many who didn`t/couldn`t wouldn`t if you`re right.

Even if he does have a good season, do we think that if he did that for us it would lead to promotion or using the money elsewhere would?

Good point. Probably using the money elsewhere, if it's done right. Even if Che were to have had a good season with us, I don't think it'd have been as good as possibly could have been purely because of how Wilder would want to start Sharp and Clarke over him.

I posted this on 1st July. Still think it. Hopefully Wilder really will get these funds and continue to strengthen.

Agreed. If we did sell Adams I'd be disappointed but it won't be quite in the same league as it was with McDonald, Maguire or Murphy.

Adams would be more like halfway between Jordan Slew and Nick Blackman and all depends on the transfer fee.

Have we ever issued a press release about a player which says "he's not for sale", or made a public comment to that effect?

The Pigs do this from time to time, as do other clubs. Sometimes they mean it, sometimes it's all part of the negotiation, but have we ever done it?
Yes many times, I remember we were on a pre season tour in Scotland and our manager at the time Kevin Blackwell, whilst been interviewed on sky made a point stating, out of the blue that "Kyle Naughton is not for sale" and I thought straight away that's a sales pitch - And so it proved not only did they take Naughton they also took Walker, fast forward relegation and the rest is history (six seasons in the wilderness)

It is only (c) that I worry about. I think it is a good decision for the club and the player. He may do well with Brum, playing with better players and with more time and space. Then again if he was that special I would have expected a little more than we got last season. Who knows? Tony Field looked brilliant once, as did I.

It's done, he's gone and we move on and trust CW to bring in the required players. Whether Adams would or could have improved here is immaterial now, move on. If CW gets it right, we will have forgotten all this by the seasons end, let's hope the sacrifice of one player benefits the squad and gets us out of this god forsaken league finally !!!

If it's rumoured around the 2 million mark then I think it's good business. We absolutely MUST reinvest it though. That sort of money could sign us 3 or 4 really solid players for this division. Anything less than 2 good permanent transfers and a couple of long term loans from that pot and I'll be disappointed.

Maybe, but I was speaking about Tufty (as I call him) as an individual not some generic stooge.

Whether he`s your Tufty or Larry,Curly and Moe,the sad reality is this will be a first if,as I fervently hope,it comes off.
