Can someone explain to me the benefits of making a transfer fee "undisclosed"?
For the selling club - so that clubs they want to buy from afterwards don't push their prices up.

Similar sort of thing for the buying club - they probably don't want other clubs they plan on approaching knowing they've just paid X amount for another player, as the selling club will then say "why have you offered lower, this player is no worse than that player" etc.

But it's mainly for the benefit of the seller.

Well at least we have kept up our record of selling one of our best players every summer.....

...and that we can call Adams one of our best players shows how shite the rest of them were last season.

In all honesty he ain't much cop.

Pity really, he has all the attributes to become a top player, but he needs to decide where he wants to be in a couple of years and start working on it now... Rather than wasting the opportunity as many other have.

I'm disappointed he's gone... But not if we've got a good price and Wilder has made his own mind up on the above - which he says he has.

Che Adams will be one of those players that now he's left will be in the he wasn't any good anyway brigade from people on here, even though he will be playing in a better league with better players than our unambitious club. Every fucking season, it gets more laughable as every mediocre season passes by.

YESSS!

Bye bye Che.

Now we can get on with strengthening our first team.
Given our history, I'd have saved that post for a month, even though I agree with the sentiment.

But will he be playing? And even if he does I suspect he'll be found out pretty quickly.

Sometimes we lose Jagielkas and Walkers, this time I think we've lost a Slew or a Lowton to be honest.

We'll soon find out if he's a Maguire or a Slew. My money's on Slew

Some old United, doing the same shit every summer and expecting the same results.

Yes I am sure this money will be "reinvested" once Ilkeston get their cut.

We had a League 1 attitude before we got relegated, so I guess being here suits us nicely. Not sure why we bothered getting the Prince on board, its been a compete waste of his time and money. Probably explains why we see very little of him and he keeps himself busy doing his other work.

Undisclosed is the way a lot of selling clubs like the transfer fee to be announced. Mainly for two reasons. One, if they then go out and try to buy incoming players the other selling clubs dont know just how much they have to spend from the previous transfer, and 2, the selling club can tell their fans that they have no more money to spend after they reinvest 10 bob and a used jonny and they have spent up. Yes it comes out in the club accounts 8 or 9 months later but by then the pressure from the fans to reinvest funds from the original sale has gone and they can claim it went on running costs. Id prefer all transfers to be open and transparent but i suppose undisclosed fees do serve a purpose.

Good luck to the lad,I was hoping we'd hang on to him,so slightly gutted but I'll get over it...a Central Midfielder and someone to play on the left please Chris.

As you say time will tell but I hold this very young player in high regards and obviously a Championship club does as well.

If the money is used for anything it may go towards a winger, which we may have got anyway, and some of it used to pay Woolford off.

We aren't going to go on a spending splurge.

Mega lolz.

Wait and see Pete.

We'll be stronger after this transfer window than we would've been had we kept Che and signed no one.

Everything suggests this isn't another case of selling for the sake of selling, it's selling an unnecessary player to fund pivotal signings. The manager clearly wanted to sell him, and he knows what he's doing.

This is NOT another Murphy, Maguire or Blackman scenario. Although I do fully understand the cynicism.

Regardless of whether he makes it or not he was one of our best players. There's a reason hes the only one that's interested other clubs.
Its neither good business or bad until we see if/or how Wilder spends the money.
Luckily it's been ongoing a while so hopefully Wider has this all planned out.

Until we see how the club and the board respond to this, I'm far from convinced with the club's ambition.

Up front, I'm less concerned as I now expect Done to join Billy and Clarke. But elsewhere we are weaker. Notably the left flank which would have been Done or Che.

Until the board prove otherwise, this has all the potential to be same owd, same owd. It's Brown replaced by Shaw, Murphy with Woolford, Evans with no one, James Beattie with Craig.

As long as it's used to strengthen then it's a really decent bit of business for someone signed a short time ago and who wasn't a regular.

However, I'm a bit bored of saying this sort of thing.

I even find myself tedious.

Well you have to put in context. Adams very occasionally stood out as decent in the worst Sheffield United side for some 35 years. But flashes of talent don't really cut it when coupled with a questionable attitude and level of application.

Even if you give him the benefit of the doubt and say that he's still developing as a player then the Championship is not a place to still be finding your feet, it's an increasingly hard division and highly competitive, arguably more so than when we were last there. You have to look something like the finished article or at least have more raw potential than Adams posesses. That's how I see it anyway.

I think its one of the few times when everyone benefits with this transfer. Che goes to the championship and probably a big pay rise, Brum get a young player with potential, whilst Utd (imo) have got good money for a lad who i think will spend a large part of his career flattering to deceive and likes the nightlife a little too much. His training levels have not been up to scratch for a while now. Provided Utd now back Wilder to bring in a few much needed players where we are clearly still short in quality, then its a good deal to me. I think its a good deal as i have faith in our manager to do the biz. He needed the money and he thinks its worth the sale of Che. Unlike other previous sales this ones different. It is CWs call this one not the board.

I envisage McCabe blaming bad luck as we unveil our new manager next May...
