Magic "Strappy" Michael suggesting on twatter that we're 99.9% sure of signing Tafazolli.

Have to say I think he would be a great signing, on its own I'm not convinced by Kilgallon (who SunJi mentioned) but think those two together would be a very impressive CB partnership.

I cant quite believe that we'd act so fast in bringing in 2 out of those 4 let alone 3 or 4 though. Be very pleased if we did.

Same here, would be well chuffed with Tafazolli.

Got to say, I thought it'd take much longer for us to start bringing players in.

Really liking what Wilder's doing so far, both in words and in deed.

So Burton got rid of him and were promoted.

And Flitcroft declares him the best in the division, whilst signing him on a long contract.

You can almost see him and Hussey's agent high-fiving it all tonight, can't you?

That comment could not be more negatively based.

Duffy was voted in the team of the year by his fellow pro's so I think that's a pretty good indicator of his abilities. And 9 goals from left-back is damn impressive, dangerous players across the field, cant complain, can we?

Burton didn't get rid of him, he chose to leave for a team that also got promoted:-

"Hussey’s final few games at Burton triggered an automatic contract extension, but he waived that to pen a two-year deal with the Shakers.
His first full season at the club brought instant success when Bury secured promotion to League One"

Hussey is a real surprise and a very good signing. I know a little about him and he's always stood out. He is a very, very good crosser of the ball as others have said and he's not poor defensively either. Top signing.

What do you think? If it is cash, it will be £20.

Another Barry Oddnob. One day, we will al go 'Fucking hell! Quality signing!' instead of 'who?'

And before all you lot start with your 'any excuse to moan', I give you Hammond, Coutts, Sammon, Higdon (I could go on ... )

That post could not be more negative:(

Got to admit I was concerned about a lack of left backs in the market. Certainly one I overlooked but hopefully one of many

Well, we're kinda in the same spot a few months ago when you were yelling from the treetops that PosNige would bring in the players and the board were backing him and the signings would happen and we'd be promoted and ... and ...

Duffy does look capable. The other bloke ... we'll see, shall we. I recall Freeman being something of the same attack minded full back ... and Bob Harris. Oh, and the Beard. And Davies.

I still fancy us to sign Dave Buchanan. An ever present for Northampton and a player Chris clearly trusts.

2 types of left back then, one more defensive minded to compliment Hussey's attacking mindset. Hussey can play left wing if they're both on form too. A lot happier with this than I wouldve been keeping what we had at left back.

Like Duffy another encouraging signing. Also encouragingly, is a defender that's 6ft and as we've seen offers a threat going forward.

And, remarkably, business done early. Pre-contracts? It's a new concept!

We won't sign two left backs of that calibre when we need so many other signings. Graham Kelly will be back up, and maybe we'll sign a centre half who can play there. There's also Done as a last resort. Even K Wallace if he stays and gets fit.

What's promising for me is that Wilder's chose Hussey ahead of Buchanan, who surely wouldn't have cost much more. If he's at least as good as Buchanan then we're sorted at left back.

Is Hussey a set piece taker btw? That would be a real boost if he is. Duffy can take them. Be great to get two set piece takers signed on the same day.

OS now reporting we've got him for a 'undisclosed nominal fee' or in other words fuck all. So not only are we getting the best players of teams in our division (who'd have thought it eh?) were also ripping them off in the process. Great. :)

Bury with a positive slant reporting it just as an "undisclosed fee". I'm guessing they weren't expecting us to include the word "nominal" – doesn't look good for them if their fans were expecting a significant fee.

Wouldn't surprise me, when Preston went up they had Laird and Buchanan fighting it out. We could do with a similar scenario.

And I believe so, can't really remember. Supposed to have a very good left foot though.

Just seen this...

I'd say that's pretty resounding!

Let's hold fire on this, a lot of the Bury fans saying he's good but a fair few saying he can't defend!

If we do sign another left back I'd imagine we've signed Hussey as a left winger/left back

The best left-back I think we've had in League 1 these past years was LJF, and I always remember him for being better going forward while prone to a dodgy moment at the back. I'd take that again in a flash.

I agree actually, was a class player on his day. Not saying it's a bad thing, I just know what our fans can be like when our full backs can't defend. Freeman gets a hell of a lot of stick for it yet was our best player in the first half of the season.

Two players I'll admit to knowing little about.

As long as we start focusing on younger players from now.

Without sounding big headed we are Sheffield United in League one and it's time we started acting like it.

We should be attacking teams from the get go, making other teams realise we aren't here to try and Nick a win.

We should have attacking full backs, in the championship be different story.

The best teams in there divisions go and attack people. Look at the best full backs at the best teams not many are known for there defending.

The likes of Taylor, Brandy, Westlake, Higdon, Alcock, J. Wallace are the first half dozen that spring to mind. Surely some others too.

Taylor came from Scotland.
Brandy is a fair comparison, but don't forget he was playing in an awful David Weir team and was one of the few brighter sparks.
Westlake wasn't one of Walsall's "stars", and was very much an indication of the budget being slashed that year.
Higdon was signed from Holland.
Alcock was backup at Peterborough.
J Wallace appeared to have the quality desired, but his horrendous injury record let him down (neither of the new signings appear to be injury prone)

I understand that we can't say for sure whether these players are the real deal, but surely it has to be preferable to signing Championship has-beens who would probably be on double the wages.

IMO anyway, each to their own
