Why sign on somewhere you are so universally, dare I say unanimously disliked??
Because he has just confirmed by doing this that he's a money grabbing greedy on his way down mercenary who doesn't give a fuck about us....... And after the shite we watched from him he would be lucky to sign for anyone for more than ten bob a week. ..... Did we really let Adkins have a free reign on this?

Either that or he knows how unpopular is, and that he's thinking fan pressure will get him paid off. Incredible that the board signed off on this without seeing it coming.
I don't imagine that the board get involved in individual contract details.

They'll employ staff to do that.

I got the impression that McCabe was angry that someone had stuffed him up at the fans forums.

I'm guessing that the person responsible is no longer at the club

More than that TB.

My source says £15,000 per week. Not sure if its 52 weeks though rather than 104.

That would have been the season just gone. I understand Brayford will remain the highest paid player at the club. I would suggest that Hammond's wages for next season would be a reasonable high basic( for L1) with a high emphasis on appearances and win bonuses if in squad. Wilder has negated that by in effect saying he isn't going to play for us. It would surprise me if the owners didn't pay him off if he doesn't go on loan somewhere after 3 months.

It shows what a mercenary he is by signing a contract where the fans, and manager,do not want him

Would it be acceptable to find out Hammonds address, publish it online then picket his house and abuse him and his family every day until he agrees to fuck off?

Going too far?.

Presumably the Hammond deal was inserted in one of his loan deals when we thought Hammond was going to be better than it turned out to be. Hindsight is a wonderful thing and no doubt Adkins was so desperate to sign Hammond that Hammond got whatever he wanted, within reason. Its a disgrace that Hammond has inserted this, but its not unusual to see a certain amount of performances trigger another deal. Personally I want to see players signed on merit, not on a clause being triggered. McDonald screwed us over with his clause for a release, now Hammond's done the same, but this time to stay!

Talk about decisive!

If Chris Wilder never did anything else at this club, he'll have done us proud just by that one vast statement he's just made there. Credit to him, & credit to the owners for swallowing the bitter medicine.

How that cunt Hammond dare show his face in Sheffield now though, I don't know. Same goes to Adkins for landing us with the mercenary bastard.

His PL salary at Leicester was over £30,000 pw.

During his loan we payed half.

Doubt his "contract" was negotiated for much less.

Thinking about it hammonds contract doesn't have to be the same as his loan deal

Hopefully it's more in line with our wage structure now his Leicester contract has finished

What I am now quite sure of is that this cost Adkins his job.

Shambolic.

and probably explains why we announced the appointment of a new Chief Executive three days ago

cracking statement of intent to transfer list everyone he doesn't like the look of!

But the real proof will be in the transfer dealings. If replacements aren't adequate all we've done is piss off a bunch of players that we'll be crawling back to come August.

should be noted that Dean Hammond has decided to activate his option of a permanent Blades contract and George Long has been offered new terms.

Alex Baptiste, David Edgar and Conor Sammon have left the club following their loan deals.

These players have been released:

Mark Howard, Bob Harris, Callum McFadzean, Terry Kennedy, Harrison McGahey, Jay McEveley, Florent Cuvelier, Ryan Flynn, Jose Baxter and Jamal Campbell-Ryce.

Additionally, the following players have been notified that they have been transfer listed:

Kieron Freeman, Kieran Wallace, James Wallace, Dean Hammond, Paul Coutts, Martyn Woolford and Diego De Girolamo.

I've literally logged in just to say that the Dean Hammond situation is 'mega lolz'

Look at it this way............at least we will receive a transfer fee if Hammond should move to another club?

HH
Nobody is going to pay Hammond the same or more than what he's on now.

He's waiting out his contract here unfortunately, despite knowing the manager, the fans and probably the board don't want him here.

A greedy bastard putting himself and his pocket before the club, basically.

He needs to be told to stay as far away from Shirecliffe and the Lane as possible.

The last thing we want is his greedy mindset around the existing squad and the new players Wilder brings in.

You'll soon change your tune if he signs nobody.

'12 of you will do, lads. We're going fucking old school' :D:D:D

Lol, play the kids! Far better than having to endure more from the wasters Chris has had to shovel out of the building!

In a way, I'm more stunned by the transfer listings than the released list. True "new broom" stuff.

Not that that definitely means the end of the road for all of them - witness John Joe O'Toole's resurrection for Northampton last season. But they'll have to earn it - & have any of them seriously got the heart to do so? Don't think so.
