There is money

Nah…they need sales. Been the same for years now, every transfer, every target, takes weeks to complete. Suggests more about trying/struggling raising funds than anything else.
Meanwhile, games tick by, fans get disgruntled, confidence falls and the slide continues.

It's a loan to buy and not a very expensive one.
So buttons is the value.
Not waiting for buttons to be pressed?

Does my head in that bloke, he talks in riddles but I really hope we get this lad so I'm willing to persevere a bit

Chocolate buttons but we don't have any at the lane. We ran out.

Nixon just excited that panto season is around the corner.

We all know deep down this signing will never happen.
All that crap about signing foreign players and Wilder’s stubbornness meaning we missed out on Soucek…blah blah blah…it’s becoming patently clear to me Wilder wasn’t the problem.

They’re all hot air and wind….and crucially don’t have the money to put up to get things done. They’re playing a hard line with players we all know will be sold eventually, all to try and win over fans. But they will go…and for no more than what’s already been offered. In the meantime we will be 20 games in before we see anything like a decent side now that we’ve decided to ditch a system the current squad can play regardless off who’s in the squad.

This seasons looking like being a disaster to me.
Oh dear.Perhaps you should find something else to do when we are playing !

He looks like he has outstanding quality. Would love to see a player like him here. I can't remember the last real crowd entertainer we had? David Brooks for a short while. Maybe have to go as far back as Peter Ndlovu?
The one and only Alex Sabella. When he was on song, he was worth the entrance fee just to witness his magic. Love some of the South American style of play where they just seem to glide through the field with the ball sticking to their boots. If we're serious in getting this Celi, if he's half as good as Alex, the younger generation of Blades fans will remember him for years.

I do t know why folk are seriously hopeful on this.
He won’t be playing for United this season.

Firstly, If he was so special he would be getting snapped up by Portuguese/Spanish/French clubs

Secondly, there are clearly issues with work permits.

And finally, we can’t get transfers over the line in under two months when dealing with English clubs, it’ll be a 12 month job from South America!

Move on

I am most certainly not ITK, but are you?
Re him getting snapped up by European clubs, just who, Real? PSG? or maybe a Dutch 2nd division club, or a club in the Portuguese 2nd tier?
None of us has any idea on the number of players that are touted to clubs on a daily basis by their agents, they may well have looked at or been offered Celi, decided he is no better than what they have, doesn't suit their style, or be put off after their last 'import' failed.
As for work permits and transfers, again none of us, including you know if there is a real interest and intent by the club to sign him, what your trying to push is that in your opinion the club and those responsible for transfers are inept, don't know about work permits and have wasted months trying to buy a player that's not eligible. On top of that you can't resist another moan regards the time it's took getting Davies and Viera over the line, again none of us know, what other offers they had, who else was trying to negotiate a deal, their parent clubs processes, why do you always think the delay on getting deals done is at our end?

Couldn't the delay be (a) work permit and (b) Peru being on the covid red list?

Are you looking forward to CW getting another job so you an start supporting a team and going to games again GB?

You mean like how we wasted a huge amount of time exploring if we could hire a coach who didn’t qualify?

I’m not ITK, but able to see what’s plain as day. For one, a player outside Europe rarely comes straight to the uk. It’s usually via a European club first. Especially one that’s playing for a small nation and hardly played an international game.

And yes, it seems our club are pretty hopeless getting targets in. Ignoring the fact it took nigh on 4 months to get a new manager and therefore direction on transfers, once identified we appear to take weeks to get somewhere. This has gone on for the last 3 transfer windows. It’s a clusterfuck that won’t be sorted until after the next window, and where will we be by then?

Tis a sad day. Nixon has blocked me after my comment of him being as reliable as a pissed sunday league goalkeeper
Join the club.

The child blocked me for pointing out he was wrong in front of his arse licking fans. He asked me to provide evidence that he was wrong and said I'll be waiting. Then the cunt blocked me.

Boring…I see we can’t possibly consider that our glorious leaders aren’t getting the job done? They managed to get a good manager…eventually… but are presently making his job harder than need be with all the speculation about whether a player will be sold…who’s going to come in…and that’s becoming clearer from Slavs most recent interviews. His frustrations are clear.

It’s very simple…the manager wants to know what players he’s got to work with. He doesn’t want this uncertainty and speculation. So get the fuck on with it so we can start building a team capable of going back up, rather than going the way of Huddersfield/Hull etc

You like everyone else get your info from what the press report, none of us have any idea regards the time spent or if there was real and genuine interest in the guy working in Belgium
You don't know who was on the shortlist, the criteria they were judged on, or the timeline involved in sorting out interviews, second interviews, finalising a short list and then final interviews, you have no idea what's involved in recruitment process, how it was complicated and effected by Covid, distance and time zones.
Slav insisted on completing his contract, that was his decision, that shows the character of the man, did it delay his start date with us? Yes, could we get round it? No, again Slavs decision, I don't blame him, you however choose to blame the club.
The last 3 transfer windows? Is it the clubs fault Liverpool screwed around re Brewster and couldn't decide if he was for sale or not, is it tge clubs fault that Lingard chose West Ham? Is it the clubs fault Lundstrom refused to sign a deal, Berge was injured, Freeman and RND were not recalled from their loan deals? No but nothing will change your opinion, you seem so convinced the club is inept.

If only it was that easy GB - it's not a game of Football Manager you know. You can of course say you feel the Board/Exec are not performing if you so wish. However, how can they sell players if offers are not at the required level, or are you advocating accepting low offers?

In the case of this particular player, are you sure the club are trying to sign him given your obvious frustration at them not getting the deal completed or are you getting angry at them not signing a player you want them to sign. I can't profess to know anything about him so would bow to your superior knowledge on his abilities, how he'd fit into the team, not to mention how he'd cope with moving 6,000 miles to live in a new country and cope with a totally different style of football, all while age 19.

Damn you with your spouting of considered measured rational logic

We all know deep down this signing will never happen.

I remember the same being said before signing McBurnie, Berger and Brewster,

Apparently we didn’t have the ambition to buy these top players.
Many said “stop pissing about, pay the players whatever they want“

Several said Berger is one of the hottest prospects in Europe and Brewster was the new Michael Owen.
The irony for United is whenever we show ambition it’s tended not to turn out well.

I used to sometimes turn up to the match early just to watch Sabella do his pre match routines.
He was an extraordinary ball juggler with quick feet, the ball would go from shoulder to shoulder, then balanced on the back of his head etc, all the tricks and flicks.
I was quite young and at the time never seen anything like it, skill wise on a totally different planet to our other players.
However he was slow and lightweight and didn’t like playing his football in the wind, rain and muddy conditions, which was common in a UK Winter.
