Young Blades (Louie Marsh) - Does Louie Marsh deserve a chance to be featured in the first team?

  • Yes

  • No

  • I don’t think he doesn’t deserve a chance, but the numbers we have are fine at the moment.

A few sources say 6'1.
Could be right he has had a growth spurt which means we have to be careful we dont over burden him too quickly naturally gifted player who stepped back into the squad so easily after injuries .
Really look forward to him progressing into the first team possibly next season.

He was only involved in six league matches and only two of those did he play a significant number of minutes. I wouldn't hold not scoring against him. Time will tell...
Yes. He didn't break into the side at league two Donny... This shows the difference in levels

He was only signed beginning of September? Had the bad break a month later and so loan cut short. He made 6 appearances in that 4 weeks.
Faie enough
It may have been a shortish spell cut short but I still think he's pretty far off. As it stands he might get a chance but I suspect signings push him down the order and can't see anything other than a lg2 or 1 loan!

Agreed. Marsh is not Championship standard yet. I think Marsh could manage a loan in League One as he's a cut above the rest of the development team. One would probably do well too, but in League Two.

Marsh has potential but he lacks the physicality at present and he would struggle with this side of the Championship. He also lacks the pace, which could bypass the need for physical tussles.

I do think the other option for some of these players is to earn there place on the bench in training and then be brought on in games where potentially we are already winning. I think with some, this might be a better way forward and especially with the forwards, so much of it seems to be confidence based. getting some game time against good championship opposition and winning games surely brings more?

Marsh, like Arblaster is a naturally gifted footballer. So much of his play is instinctive. He does need a good quality loan spell, similar to Arblaster.
From this, Marsh will develop just fine. Way ahead of Osula already.

We have some very promising youngsters. Don’t rush them too quickly, in desperation.

Agree in principle ! Marshy is a rare talent doesn't need loans to bring him through
he has football intelligence to add to his talent! so ready now. He is lightweight but will cope in my opinion as long as we use him properly.

100% agree, he's naturally gifted and has that ability to see a pass well before any other player and creates opportunities that sometimes in tight games are hard to come by and not mention he can't half finish!. Physically yeah probably needs to bulk up a little but I'm sure the training staff are trying to sort that out, if he doesn't go out on loan next season then hopefully that means he's taken his first team opportunity?

I'm not voting because I don't want to seem negative, because he's my favourite and most exciting player that's coming through, but he needs a lower league loan next season.
He's an exceptionally gifted prospect but he needs minutes in the men's game first.

Spot on ,a loan spell at a GOOD club could be just what he needs . Say some where like Rotherham where he can still live at home could be ideal for the lad .

The most important thing with sending players out on loan, is finding teams who will play to that players strengths. Marsh is a natural number 10, often scoring his goals from deep. If he joined a club who play over the top balls to beat the offside trap to go one on one with the keeper, then he'd struggle to make an impact and his loan spell would be a failure. This is one of the hardest parts and why so many loans often end up with an underwhelming result.

Good management comes into this. Don't make a player adapt to your system, adapt your system to allow the player to thrive doing what they do best. It's what we did so well with Duffy, Didsy and Ndiaye.

Look at Coulibaly who has struggled in his latest loan. He's a a central midfielder but was asked to play left wing. He struggled and that's down to poor management. In fairness, by his own admission, he's knuckled down and accepted this and improved as a result. But why sign a central midfielder to play them out wide? It reminds me of when Blackwell would stick Sharp out wide and wouldn't let him in the 18 yard box, then sold him because he wasn't scoring. Did Blackwell ever watch Sharp at Scunthorpe?

As much as you want to see youngsters toughen and bulk up I'd like to see him in a position based team that will give him chances.
McAtee got overrun this season and should have gone to Leicester instead, but in the Championship we were a really good fit for him, something similar (at a lower level) would be fantastic.

Do you mean a inferior lower rated club like Owls ;)

Have a look for his assist for Hampsons goal, absolutely exquisite. Took about 4 Harrogate players out.

He looks a real prospect! Hopefully he makes an impact against Rotherham and I’d look to keep him around.

A bit of Teddy Sheringham about him, if he bulks out a bit.

Peck will rightly get the headlines but I was really pleased to see Louie Marsh get his first senior goal for us in a competitive game. His post match interview showed how much it meant to him and the enthusiasm he has to make his mark.

I love seeing the academy kids come through, particularly when they’re fans and you can tell they’re living out their dreams. Some will make it with us, others won’t but I really hope Louie does well and has good season after the bad luck with his injury. Good luck son 👍

Agreed but needs to fill out/develop strength. When I’ve seen him play u/23’s he almost falls into the Osula category of too good for that level but obviously the step up is massive.

He's got bags of potential, but we now need to learn from Jebbo and Osula and get him a decent loan and regular league gametime, if our own depth and recruitment allows. He's far more technically gifted than both, naturally, but is less of a raw athlete.

Hopefully he gets some good first team experience with us, then gets an ideal loan in January (when we sign a couple of world class forwards to seal promotion and mount a Champions League challenge).

Sorry, was boring myself, so livened that up a bit.

Anyone got a link to a clip of the goal? Can't find highlights anywhere
