..to Barnsley for £1.5M or Donny for 600K?

I'd tell the dingles to take a running jump.

this will go down as a real embarrassment to us. After developing a player through the academy, we can't spot his talent and we give him away. We then pay £2M for what we could have had for free, yet our "style" of play ensures he can't hit a bull's ass with a banjo. We send him out on loan and he can't stop scoring.....

The final sorry tale will surely be a crap transfer fee. Is it beyond possibility that we could play in a way that suits him. After all, how much longer are we going to waste accommodating Evans?

That's what worries me. How many other gifted players are being held back by our management team. Who is to blame? Is it Blackie or Ellis?

Both are to blame.

I really don't think there can be any argument that we're handling a 20 goal a season striker wrong at this level.

And as for 1.5 million 600k. I'd want 3 million at least to be perfectly honest as goalscorers at this level are tough to come by.

Perhaps as long as we tried to accommodate Billy Sharp... Who knows.

but Evans doesn't have to carry ayone's bags. Evans has no excuse, just basic lack of ability. Sharp did all the running for Beattie, but he's clearly a box player.

.

We have a 20 goal striker on loan, and Ched Evans wearing his shirt, FFS .

It's difficult for Blackwell, as if we recalled Sharp and he failed to score, it would look really poor on him. It's a big decision.

I'd swap him for Brian Stock. Otherwise bring him back and start again with a clean slate on both sides.

It's a conundrum.
How long is left on his contract? Does the fact he's under 24 make any difference?
If Blackwell's safe in his job and Sharp won't get a look in, we probably have to sell.
Pat Nevin reckoned he was worth a punt from clubs higher up the food chain when he was mentioned on Radio 5 today and we should certainly look for good money for him.

Sharp looked every bit as bad as Evans when he was here. To be perfectly honest, I think Evans looks better than Billy did. Don't you remember the 113 offsides every match?

We can't recall Sharp so there's no point in even speculating on it.

You think so really? I'm amazed. Sharp put in loads of work for the team and for Beattie, but failed in his main role. We wondered if he could make the step up, but that's now been answered.

Evans, so far, is one of the poorest players I've seen in a Blades shirt for some years. He has not one strong attribute to his game, and hasn't had a single spell where he's looked impressive - correct me if I'm wrong but please with some detail. Even Ryan France has had one good match.

As I say, Billy never looked impressive (one hatrick match aside). He ran around a lot, got caught offside a lot and hardly ever got into a good position. But this was because Blackwell asked him to run into channels in order to feed Beattie or Hendo. That just isn't his game.

Ched is an entirely different kettle of fish to Billy in that he doesn't work hard, but then a striker shouldn't have to. His shooting looks better than Billy's and he has a much defter touch too. Some people will decide now he's poor, but then so did many about Billy; I admit I grew impatient with him for instance and wrote him off. Evans amongst Norwich's supporters has a bigger reputation than Sharp does amongst Donny's. He is also rated highly by the Welsh (both coaching staff and supporters). The type of reputation he has garnered does not come with a poor player.

I don't want us to sell billy at all, but i would hate for him to go to the whinging dingles :(

Donny are the ones who are nurturing him and puting his career back on track, but i supose IF he has to go we should get the best amount for him. But the dingles

Billy on Rad Sheff......wishes he was back doing the biz at....erm.........BRAMALL LANE!!!!!!! (Get a grip Blackewell!!!)

No i would sell for more. & to someone not in this league if at all possible.

I agree with you again Bladegirl ;) We should not let Billy go. When he went to Donny Blackwell said he was loaning him out to help him get his confidence back. Lets hope this is the case eh'

Indeed, clearly wants to do what he's doing at Donny at Utd. Plus, a couple of digs at Blackwell; "I [now] have a manager who believes in me" and "I'm allowed to play [now] in and around the box"

But the "get a grip" bit doesn't matter! He can't come back. And he can't play well for Blackwell.

Come on then Houso, why shouldn't a striker have to work hard?

I meant "get a grip" on his man management and this would never have happened!

Fair enough. Don't think it's man management; more Blackwell's preferred style of play.

Come on then Houso, why shouldn't a striker have to work hard?

I thought it might be you who'd pick me up on that one.

What I meant was; he shouldn't have to work hard to create his own chances. He should be in position to score goals after a pass or cross from his team mates.

I'll readily admit that he doesn't work a hard as he perhaps should to press opposition defences. That said, I genuinely believe this is semi-excusable due to the way he's managed and made to feed off of scraps.

Morale and motivation are intrinsically linked. If you're low on morale due to not getting the support you require to reach a target, then you're going to be less motivated to work hard to do so.

good points, but you fail to identify any incidence of good play by Evans. Anything more than a 5 minute spell. It's really worrying for a player who's had more than half a season to show just nything.

His reputation elsewhere can't be denied, but neither can the fact that he's been a total let down for us, and is taking up a key position.

UTB

I don't think he has had a great spell, though had a couple of games where he played well at the start of the season, including his bow at the lane. It IS worrying and I may end up losing patience, but I refuse to write him off while Blackwell is in charge. Thierry Henry would struggle in the same role as Ched.

It makes a mockery of all the people saying he wasnt good enough to make the step up.

How much did blackwell say he would have paid for him when he first came? 5 million was it? He then nearly wrecked his chance in this league!!

Its a bloody embaressment tbh!

If he is too leave then id bring him back in jan & see if we can get 10 goals out of him to get us in the play offs.

We CAN'T bring him back!!!!!!! No recall clause. We can sell, but not recall. STUPID STUPID oversight by Blackwell......unless he really hates Billy.

I doubt blackwell will have got involved with the deal, he will of agreed to let him go but i expect thats it.

Does it? Does it really?

At Doncaster he's a big fish in a relatively small pond. They're happy for him to walk into their side as they have no other strikers. He's only ever played in rubbish, lower league sides, until his second chance at the Lane, where he wasn't the main attraction.

Looking at Doncaster's results, his goals have come against rammell like Bristol City, Wendy, Palace, Scunthorpe and Peterborough. Has he actually scored against anyone good, any sort of side that you could argue belong at Championship or better a level?

Would I sell Billy?

That would depend am I the chairman or the manager?

Of course it has. His record since he has gone to Donny has proven he can score in this league. And who gives a damn who it is against as long as they count. you can only score against the teams in front of you & he has done that every week since he has moved. You cant argue against the stats. unless your a blackwell fanboy. And as if BC & SWFC are small teams lmao.
