It’s looking increasingly likely that we’ll be a Championship team next season, which will mean selling some of this season’s better players. Likely departures will be:

  • Hamer
  • Sousa
  • Ahmedhodzic
  • Cooper (if there’s a release clause)

Having watched them all season, and although we’re third, this team of players just don’t do it for me. There’s no connection with players and fans and I think this went downhill since Arblaster got injured. I get the impression these players, in general, just don’t care enough.

Hamer - sporadic individual brilliance, but constantly gives the ball away and gets booked for petulant fouling so often he’s teetered on another 3 game suspension for an accumulation of 15 yellow cards, which I don’t ever remember seeing in a season before. Already been unavailable for 3 games due to suspension. His commitment/professionalism is questionable, going to watch Leeds pre-season was a terrible look (don’t care if Bogle is his mate).

Sousa - Could be a colossus at this level, but he hasn’t been. He’s been injured for too many games and doesn’t look assured in possession to me.

Ahmedhodzic - Not strong enough in the air, feel he’s been at fault for a lot of goals this season and seems to get away with any criticism. Not good enough in possession when passing around the back, his second touch is normally a tackle.

Cooper - Been solid, can only remember him being at fault for 1 goal and it didn’t cost us.

Would you be sad to see any of our players leave? For me, Cooper is the only one I wouldn’t want to see go, I wouldn’t be bothered about the others.

Blades and neutrals have spent all season raving about our team spirit, how much everyone wants it and is prepared to put it all out there etc.

We lose three games and suddenly they're all bottleless wankers who don't care 🤣
Never called them “bottleless wankers” as you put it, but I don’t think they care that much. I think Sousa and Hamer have had an eye on the exit door since the start of the season and do question their attitude.

Yeah, you said loads of other piddle instead.

There's "no connection between the players and the fans" he says about players such as Souza, the player who most often goes over to the fans...

Yes, Vini and Cooperman have been superb this season. Hamer is a frustrating player, but possesses the ability to produce something out of the ordinary. Anel was excellent alongside Souttar. I like his calmness and ability to bring the ball out of the back, but don't like him wrestling with attackers at corners.

I'd only be gutted if Peck and Cooper went the rest were part of last season and had to step up attitude wise. I don't think any of them would play regular for a team in the Premier league too inconsistent I think all 3 are top end championship players

I’d be disappointed to see Hamer and Cooper go. Not that fussed about Vini and Anel. I hope the new ownership means we’d only lose a couple of our best players.

I only really care about Cooper, Arblaster and Peck

Don't care about Souza and Hamer. We should simply get as much as we can for them ASAP. On balance they've been underwhelming this season and both will want to leave

I'd rather keep Anel but if he won't sign, let him go. I'm quite indifferent

The rest won't get any serious interest

Cooper would be the biggest loss.
Hamer way too inconsistent.
Vini injuries are a concern.
Anel we should to the profit and look for a new central defence.

Vini - 1st 10 games gets into lower EPL, but not hit those levels, maybe mid table Spanish league but think he could stay

Hamer - wouldn’t get an EPL move, too inconsistent and penchant for silly bookings

Anel - is he better than Souttar or Holding? Who were deemed not good enough for EPL

Cooper - quality and capable in EPL, but would he displace a current EPL no1? No imo. Leaves Burnley & Leeds

These 4 are peak age and not chased by prem teams yet

More worried about young uns - blaster, peck, one, sekiri etc

No doubt some goings but we aren’t prime Barca, as the last 3 results have shown

I think people are a bit delusional if they expect players to be massively arsed about the fans and the club they play for. They’re professionals and jump from club to club based on their personal needs.

We’ve been lucky to have fan/player, fan/manager, fan/chairman over recent years and we’ve had the likes of Bash, Baldock, Egan as non-fans who seemed to buy into it. But I’d much rather see good players who are good at their job playing for us over cheerleaders who aren’t very good but like a beer and get the ‘culture’.

Eventually the players move on, it’s inevitable. For some reason our fans seem obsessed with the “once a Blade, always a Blade” quote and it’s a bit needy.

I should have said, it depends what division we are in and what we are offered for them.

All of them are great players at this level, with the potential to play higher, and would be hard to replace.

I’m old enough to remember the summer we sold our best players and ended up with Benie Traore and Osborn as wide forwards for our first match of the season.

It's big leap to say they "have" to leave if we stay down. Only Anel has a contract issue.

Yeah of course, we’ve got some good lads at different stages of their careers.

We must keep Hamer, Cooper, Anel, Souza, Peck and Arblaster. Robinson released. Loan players will be going back to their clubs. If Souttar recovers okay, it would be good if we could buy him or get him on loan.

I hate them all and want them to leave, but if we win I’ll love them and think they’re the best again.
I was in your neck of the woods yesterday Rodders, driving through Calverley, en-route to Keighley. Thought about popping in to have a glass of lemonade spritzer with you on the patio and listen to the match. :)

It's going to be a fascinating summer if we are in this division again. Parachute payments drop dramatically so you'd guess the wage bill may reduce, but the new owners may cover that (we have no idea of their intentions).

I think Souza and Anel will leave, regardless of the division. Hamer possibly, but he's got zero chance of being a wide player in the PL so possibly overseas or a very ambitious Championship club (relegated team or Brum).

I want to keep Cooper, Campbell and all of the academy graduates. Wouldn’t lose sleep over any of the others going as long as transfer fees and wages are reinvested in the team. I’d be happy enough for most of them to stay as well, I’m just not too fussed either way, I don’t feel any great connection to them. Not bothered about keeping any of the loan players.

Will our wage bill even be that big? With the loans returning there's only really Souza, T Davies and Hamer left that I'd expect to be on top money.
