Worst performance of the season

The players will be fighting for their future now. He said in the Radio Sheffield interview that he's now looking to the Summer on where we can improve. He said it's up to players to show him from now until the end of the season whether they are going to be here pushing on with the club next season .

But will they really? Wilder has just told them they aren’t good enough for promotion. I suppose some might react in a positive way to that but there’s just as much chance of some reacting in a negative way.

I agree that they needed telling that tonight wasn’t good enough, I just feel that his choice words weren’t right. Telling a player this is as far as he will go isn’t a good thing.

He's not individually picked out players and said they will only go this far. He said this group has gone has far as it can. It's up to the individuals now to show him they deserve to be here next season.

Some people think it's just spin from Wilder tonight but it's those sort of games that tell you a lot about your team and a lot of players tonight have indicated they don't have enough desire to truly push for the very top. They've been swatted aside by a terrible Hull side as if it's acceptable because they have won the last two. I think that's what Wilder was getting at. The attitude seemed to be "we've done our bit now , nobody expects anything of us".

Two interesting things that happened tonight. Hull actively switched the ball cross field from one flank to the other to get into the space behind the WB, and getting at the wide CB. It's the first time i can remember it being done so often, as it's an obvious weakness on our part. Second thing was the free kick trying to catch JB out of position. Another obvious weakness that i've not seen attempted to be exploited. He has a habit of 'cheating' on his position at set pieces and i'm surprised he's not been done.

Alright he’s not picked individuals out but he’s said that this team isn’t good enough for promotion and for me that’s disappointing. I don’t mind him digging the players out as I feel the same way, I just don’t think it’s a good idea to send out the message that this season is done, especially with us just 2 points off promotion.

I know he wouldn’t say but I’d be interested to hear which players he doesn’t think are good enough. Out of the 10 outfield players he signed 3 in the summer and 2 in January. He praised the strikers tonight so unless he’s saying his recent signings aren’t good enough that only leaves O’Connell, Fleck and Basham.

Losing is one thing. Part of the reason we love Wilder is that if we lose, we know it won’t be because we didn’t leave every ounce of effort on the pitch.

Sadly, that wasn’t the case tonight. Genuinely horrendous performance and he’s right to be furious.

So Wilder has said the same as me. He also said the play offs have gone. I said that after the Villa game. Maybe out of anger i dont know. My reason was that even the shitter teams in the division all seem to have one or two stand out players that can turn a game on its head. The longer a game goes on level, the less chance we have of winning it in my opinion. We rely on early goals
