And recent doesn’t necessarily mean ‘last three games’.
So you didn’t mean recent then?
Nice to see you taking an interest in United anyway mate.

So despite being 2 points off the playoffs we shouldn’t bother with the rest of the season?
Dry your eyes son.
What a strange reply. If you didn’t mean ‘recent’ then just say so.
I'm not saying that, and to be honest, we fight to the end. I've been fairly positive about our chances, but Christ tonight is a wake up call. Nothing less than 3 points was needed against a very poor side, that had made 6 changes. Put down a marker, and put the pressure on teams around us.
To my untrained eyes, it looked like the majority of the outfield 11 couldn't be bothered tonight despite being 2 points off the play offs. That wasn't just a poor performance, it was abject. After the Preston FA Cup game I was critical about the performance level (possibly harshly), and was of the opinion that levels have to be maintained no matter what the game. It has to become second nature. It's not hyperbole to say that tonight was unacceptable on every level. We could not pass the ball along the ground between team mates, we didn't appear to be able to deliver set pieces, heading seemed beyond us, the team played like they'd been introduced for the 1st time this morning and we were devoid of any ideas. In his last two appearances CD appears to have lost all ability as a footballer. For over 100 minutes in the last two games, our first choice attack has been nullified by Dawson, Baptiste & Onuoha.
For us to have any chance of getting into one of the last two spaces, we have to be knocking teams like Hull out of the park & picking up points against our play off rivals. We put in a performance tonight, the likes of which I've not seen us do for a long while, one which is totally unacceptable for a team challenging for the play offs. If we play like that against either Fulham and/or Brentford they will put 4 past us. Again i'm not saying that that will happen, but at this stage of the season, we should be either in a groove or hitting form, not yo-yo-ing between games not knowing which United will turn up.
No player to link midfield and attack. Dropping Duffy is one thing, not putting in someone who at least offers some of the same qualities was a poor decision and clearly wasn't working after 20 minutes or so.
The first two subs should have been made at half time as Evans and Leonard couldn't even pass to their own team (not that Duffy or Lundstram ended up being much better). Donaldson for Basham nullified Baldock who was our only remote attacking threat.
Define ‘recent’.
By the way, Wilder seems to agree with me.
and what did these teams fans say at the time?? probably the same as what is being said right now i'd wager.Granted tonight was poor but it’s not like promotion chasing teams (and those who have eventually gained promotion) haven’t had poor results in the past against teams where “nothing less than 3 points were needed”.
My definition of recent is the last 3 games.
Wilder has said that the season is now over?

And my definition goes a bit further back.
Check out his interview from tonight.
still think we'll nick second placeExactly my point.
After the win against QPR people were talking about nicking 2nd place. One poor performance later the season is now over.

not exactly but it would be easy to interpret it as suchSo instead of just saying ‘recent’ it would be better if you explained yourself a little.
You said Wilder agreed with you. You said the season is now over. Did Wilder say that?

I’ve been perfectly clear, we differ on how many games is a ‘recent run’ is all.
Check out his interview, you can get it from the horses mouth rather than me spoon feeding you.
You seem to have confused things. I haven’t heard the interview. I’m asking whether Wilder has indeed said what your claiming. All you’ve done is come back with sarcastic comments telling me to listen to the interview. I’m not sure why you can’t just answer the question? If Wilder has said that then fair enough.
He said the play-offs / top 6 was over.
He straight up said that the playoffs were gone? Must admit that I’m disappointed if he’s said that

He said the play offs are done and these players have peaked. He says he's got the max out of them and he's just going be hoping to pick up a few wins from now until the end of the season.
He also said it wasn't spin. It's how he sees it
Great minds, and all that...
If he thinks that season is over then why should the fans think any differently?
They can think what they like.
The playoffs but isn’t good for the fans to hear and the ‘players have peaked’ but isn’t good for the players to hear. What an excellent way of showing a bit of fighting spirit.
