It never ceases to amaze me how many times people ask whether managers will fuck off if there’s no money. In just the football league, there are 92 clubs and you’d have to say at least 62 have no money really. How many times have you seen managers jump ship for that reason?
Managers move because they get sacked, get an offer from a better team or they want to manage their boyhood club or one they’ve had a connection with.
He can’t get sacked because he’s done a brilliant job. He can’t leave for his boyhood club because we’re it. We’re on the top 30 teams in the country. All of those above us in this league don’t want a new manager and he doesn’t have the experience for a top 5 Prem side. That rules in relegation candidates from the Prem (which he’d surely avoid because we have a chance of going up) or a mid-table team that for some reason wants someone new.
Ruling out the newly promoted sides going alright, I’d narrow it down to Watford, West Ham, Southampton and Stoke. Do you really see him going to watford or stoke?
So unless he wants to abandon his dream job because in a transfer window no one planned for because we expected to be doing worse, he’s not openly saying he’s got a blank cheque, AND Southampton or West Ham suddenly decide to poach a manager from a lower division, I think I can rest easy that he’ll be here a while.
