If, as looks likely, there's no significant investment available, can't see Wilder staying that long.
We're at a crossroads, he's plainly ambitious, he's secured his legendary status here and very few would begrudge him leaving.
Maybe he'll work the ultimate managerial miracle on a shoestring but we're currently treading water.
It would be say to see him go but if he isn't going to get reasonable backing, he doesn't owe us - and particularly the board he's worked wonders for - anything.

Is it the 31st January already?

In all fairness, Wilder appeared quite upbeat in his post Derby interview.

They asked him about signings and he replied that he has his budget and it is his job to maximise it as much as possible. Does this suggest he's getting nothing? Or is it just another typical Wilder move of keeping his cards close to his chest?.

What sense would there be in saying "i've got this much to play with" or "I got the budget that I wanted"??....Suddenly Fleetwood and Southend add a zero on those targets and everyone else hikes up their prices.

It could be that he hasn't got bags to play with, but then again I think we thought this would be the case in the immediate future? But who knows......Nobody outside of the club knows that's for sure.

The fact we've been faffing around for months over a midfielder from Southend and Whiteman is apparently coming back off loan doesn't augur well.
And neither does the strange bank loan taken out and the board playing musical chairs which looks very much like a significant split between the owners.
If the people running the club can't get their act together, your managerial stock is high and ultimately another club comes along and says you'll get well treated and supported by us, why stay here?

He will probably see how far he can take us on a limited budget but once he feels he can go no further then he will leave if his stock is still high.

That is if we don't land further investment.

He'll be off to an ambitious club about our size or smaller who just so happen to have a mega rich chairman who can chuck millions at reaching the Premier League.

Once achieved, said incredibly ambitious club will spend tens of millions every year in order to cement their 14th place finish until they inevitably go down seven years later.

Even if we did have the money, why would Wilder, or any member of the hierarchy ever say "We have £X million to spend on players" or even a "significant amount" of money for investment. It would only drive up the price of any player we're bidding for. I don't think we'll have tons of cash to spend this month, but I wouldn't be surprised if we spent a decent amount should the right player become available.

Just for some context, Wilder has never managed at this high of a level before; we plucked him from a fairly lowly League One team (no disrespect to Northampton); we're his boyhood club; and he's been here a whopping 18 months. I happen to think he's one of the best English managers out there and he deserves the chance to try his hand at the top level--if that's not with us, fair play and good luck to him. But that's in the future, not less than two years in to the job.

Whiff of bacon about this thread anyway.

Thank fook some can see sense.

Maybe too much bolox talked by 'fans' will cause CW to leave leave like our friend from across the city.

Maybe the 'fans' will start sending hate mail and worse to McCabe because they think he has not spent enough of his money, causing him to sell up to any old Dolphin killer - result.
What could possibly go wrong by talking bollox.

How many millions has it cost Chansiri by announcing their imminent promotion to the the PL, and where has it got them ???

He wouldn't leave now but this transfer window may end up being a turning point if he ends up thinking the board are taking the piss.
The guy deserves some proper support and if he doesn't get it why stay here long term?

Even with a small budget I have faith that he'll work his magic. He got Donaldson for the about the same price as a Ford Focus and look how well he's done for us.

Wilder's stock is high, and no doubt he's an excellent manager but he's also sensible, look at how he treats our prospects, it's all gradual, and he's not one to get ahead of himself, so I genuinely can't see him jumping ship unless a lot of people on the board fuck him off. If they start selling players without his sign off he'll leave I imagine but he's really been involved and built us up to where we are now so he'll know what he has to work with, and he'll want to squeeze as much out of it as possible.

Feel free to provide firm proof to back up everything that you are saying and I might start to believe that you are on to something.

Forgive my french but it fucks me off to another level completely, that we going above and beyond the expectations of not only our fans, but fans who and down the country who let's not forget wrote us of before a ball was even kicked....Yet despite this being a pretty euphoric moment in our recent history after some pretty shitty times, it just isn't enough for some.

Now forgive me for living in the world of reality here but I couldn't give a flying toss whether our next signing costs 2 million or 2 hundred thousand as long as he brings something to the table which takes us forwards!. Which part of our recent successes bring grounds for concern? We have the leagues leading goalscorer who we purchased on a pittance... We have one of the leagues finest midfielders with the most assists, again picked up on a pittance.......Now Big Clayts is banging them in, oh did I mention that we picked him up on a pittance?......

This isn't aimed directly at you but at all the winging gits who if I am honest, I feel are ruining some of my most positive days as a Blades supporter. I've followed them through thick and thin for years on end and right now is up there with the best of them!...On a Saturday I leap out of bed and I am shit, showered and shaved before my alarm has gone off. I don't want to stand in the pub or in the stands, close to some numpty slating the ambition of the club or trying to implant negative bullshit into my head. I want to go into the ground and hopefully see another scalp of a club who's fans told us that we would be relegated by Christmas!.....If indeed anything untowards is going on then I am sure I will here about it at some point when actual facts are released, until then I couldn't care less.

20th lowest wage bill in the league is it?....One of the least valuable squads in the league in regards to fees paid?....Not doing to bad really are we all things considered?....We need some improvement yes but I am more than happy to leave it to the bloke who has rarely put a foot wrong so far personally.

One of the best posts ever, couldn't agree more

Pedro, may I call you Pedro, Pedro ?
Sounds far less formal than 'Mr Whinger' don't you think?
Anyway, I digress.
I couldn't help but notice that you appear to be an awfully pessimistic soul even by Bramhall (where DID that additional 'h' come from ?)Lane standards
Whilst clearly you give great thought to your contributions (sic) I wonder if you would afford some assistance to those of us that are a tad less patient / tolerant of your opinions?
Would it be possible for you to prefix your posts with :
'Contains Utterly Nonsensical Twaddle'.*

Such would be clearly of great benefit both for yourself & (more importantly) anyone with better things to do than read your musings - present company excepted of course - I'm just taking a break from unblocking a stench pipe.

*abbreviate if necessary

Thanks awfully
