Winning an away Play off semi final game

I'm far from a clapper, but a 1 goal defecit going into a 'cup final' is a long way from out of the tie.

Everton playing well early doors yesterday, and leading, then bam... A red card. These things happen, a slight misjudgement in timing or a piece of brilliance from MGW out foxing a forest player, and suddenly an error punished by a red.

It can happen. Will it, fuck knows, but to be so pessimistic at this stage astounds me. 30 mins in.. Tomorrow night, and might be sounding the same bell, or I might not.

but that's the point. just have to score 2 and stop Forest from scoring

it's pretty much what's required

Apologies. I thought the point was that we “looked a different team” against Everton, as compared to when we were poor against Southampton in the previous game?

our first season in the prem we lost at home to southapton and looked laboured but next game won 2-0 at Everton and looked a different team

Hasn't Cooper managed more games and also had to play Liverpool at home?! Some context behind stats is sometimes useful.

The context being that our home record is now irrelevant given that we are playing away at Forest and our away record has been pants all season

Well that's fine . you sit at home and wait fir the worst

football always been about failure
imagine those idiots that have hope and belief what mugs eh
just throwing your ands up and saying it's not worth turning up really have this covered

in fact Ill take up knitting as you say we only ever get let down
I'VE been watching us since doc pacd and kettleborough so have never seen us. just turn up and win an away game
58 years and not one decent away game display. shit aren't we .

I'll look in on Wednesday and get definitive
advice on who's at fauilt most this time

There could be another record in the offing here.

If we win by one goal but then lose on penalties we'd be the first ever team in the history of the second tier to lose the home leg first and win the away leg but still not reach the final.

Never say never and a one goal deficit is certainly not insurmountable but.....

Styles do make matches and our possession based high line on Saturday could not have been more susceptible to Forests counter attack if we had tried. I don't really see with the personnel at his disposal what could really have been done different by Hecky Saturday and unfortunately I don't see what changes drastically for tomorrow night.

Having said that though as others have pointed out games can spin on small margins, if we were to score early and they got a sending off then it is a different story.

I will be watching from behind the settee Tuesday evening and should we manage to beat the odds and do it I will be posting on here that I never doubted it for a second.

We've played 8 away Play off semi final games and not won one. Got to be a first time so why not Tuesday. #clutchingatstraws

Bristol City lost
Ipswich draw
Sunderland lost
Forest draw
Preston draw
Stevenage draw
Yeovil lost
Swindon draw

Surely we can't play as bad on Tuesday
So the reason we will win is because we’ve never won away before. We probably said the same vs Stevenage, Yeovil & Swindon (all very bad memories) 😂

Well I if you think k that negatively no o e would ever. even try

been a litany of failure so far . but that doesn't mean it can't change

we hadn't won at Old Trafford for 40 years but somehow won 2-1 with a goal from Burke
how likely was that

Well we played them 3 times and were as bad in all 3 !! Definition of insanity - doing what you have always done and expecting a different result !

Only team to have beaten Forest at home in 2022? Liverpool! 🤣

Until Saturday we had only lost one home game in over 6 months.

Bottom line remains that Forest were miles better than us on Saturday in terms of creating chances either through their own positive play or through our errors. We are fortunate to still be in the tie but we are only 1 goal down and that far from insurmountable. The team and management need to find a way to nullify the Forest counters (Baldock and RND in at wingback maybe, for a bit of aggression and pace respectively) and overcome their low block; do that and we have as good a chance as could have been hoped for at 4.45pm on Saturday.

Look, all we need is a miracle, that's all, just one little bloody miracle,!!! but all I've seen on here so far is a bunch of moaners.
I can see Hecky now shouting down the bus, "OK lads, we've lost this one so lets not bother going out there tonight" and the players all saying " Your right there, Hecky lets all go to a night club instead" .
And them all trailing off down the road, looking for some where to have a piss up...

I mean really, If we don't believe in the lads, who the hell will ? ........

They rested 4 or 5 before Saturday, which might have given them an advantage in the first leg. recovery times will be more even this time, maybe. Odds still against us but you never know..

Might be worth giving Yates a huge nudge in the shoulder early on. He's been having trouble of late and they have very few centre mid options when you look to their bench.

Having seen their fan comments in and around the game I don't even feel bad suggesting this!

Is it straight to pennos if we win 1-0? Or are there any away goals or extra time to be aware of?

In typical United fashion, we win away but we still lose. Glorious defeat as usual
