Christ, why even bother.

We’re more than capable of staying up, not sure why everyone has written us off before a ball is kicked.
There’s some right defeatist miserable twats on this forum. Set up a starter post like that and they come like slugs to a dish of beer. Cheer up to what we have achieved over the last few years , a reyt barrel of laughs some of them . 😞

I’m curious as with the rumours whirling round about budget and ownership uncertainty so on and so on

I don’t recall seeing anyone say anything really positive? Curious if there is anyone out their lurking who think we may actually do better than expected?
ATM not a chance, only way it happens if hecky suddenly gets a 100m cash injection so we can get 6-10 good young players and even then it'll be a struggle

In our last PL season we lost the majority of our games 1-0, we rarely got battered. We also had to play our home games in front of zero fans. We also had to contend with refereeing that awarded free kicks for merely breathing on an opposition player. I'm being cautiously optimistic that with 5/6 new signings that go straight into the starting 11, the return of home crowds, and more lenient refereeing that we saw last season meaning we can get amongst teams, we'll be alright.

We'll be fine

Three teams will be worse than us, and that's all that matters ✌️

All blades should get behind the manager and the team … you can be assured that the team will be prepared for the first game on the 12th August and every player who plays throughout the season will give 100% in each game .. it’s the blades way and who knows where we will finish up at the end of the season . We have to be optimistic that survival can be achieved as there are definitely more disjointed teams that the blades and remember those that are lucky to support the blades at the lane are the 12th man !!! As ever up the red and white wizards !!! From an irish blade in Galway .

Hi Stegosaurus here,

Yes. If we can avoid injuries.

A core of our first team -- Baldock, Ndiaye, Anel, Egan, Berge and possibly Norwood are Premier League level.

If we can get a replacement GK for L1 Wes, a good 10-goal a year striker to partner N'Diaye, a new left-back to replace Enda and a couple of cheap and decent players for other positons. We can do it.

Getting Ryan Manning to replace Enda, Glenn Kamara to give depth to the midfield and James Trafford to replace League One Wes, as well as a striker should be a priority. And with loan options--it's possible we can do that despite the prince being skint.

The big thing is avoiding injuries---if we get hit by them and have to resort to having Enda and Fleck and Robinson starting, then we will be in deep shit.

Would be bloody remarkable if Enda starts!

Not the no fans shit again ffs

Wait till transfer deadline before voting!

This is obviously the most sensible approach.

It's not beyond the realms of possibility that we make really good use of a shoestring budget and give ourselves half a chance.

My only worry is that the bargain basement market we're shopping in doesn't start throwing up options until the final week or two of the window, at which point we might already be a few games into the season and we have so few contracted players.

As things stand, and with the murmurings around transfer budgets, you'd have to say the odds are firmly stacked against us.

But it's by no means a total write off at this stage.

What movements do you think are going to happen before the transfer deadline that are going to make a significant difference? The only things that would significantly change the needle are:

a) Inexplicably selling Ndiaye
b) The transfer budget is far, far in excess of what most people expect
c) The club is sold, feeding back into point b

A we can cover with a simple "well we're fucked if we sell him, if not, then (insert opinion here)". B/C are more interesting but not overly likely. Sure we may well bring in a couple of moderate fee permanents and a couple of loans, but we know those are very likely to happen anyway and what the random players coming in will do. Knowing which specific ones they are really isn't that important in forming a judgment. Frankly, the results from the two meaningful games we have prior to the transfer deadline (if anyone is calling City a meaningful game and not automatically writing a zero in the points column, then ok, I'll have what you're drinking) will have far more of an impact on the equation than actual transfer business done

I have no idea and neither have you!

Too many premature ejaculators in here!
